In today’s lesson, you are expected to:
1. learn to use the writing techniques used in the text;
2. to learn some expressions to describe people;
3. to choose and describe a living legend of sports that meet the standards.

Help us choose some “Living Legends of Sports”. They must be athletes who are masters in their sports and also set good examples for others. Here are our first two choices.

Personification (拟人)
The practice of representing(描述) objects, qualities etc. as humans in art and literature (文学作品).

6. What is the figure of speech of “Air Jordan” What’s the function
“Air Jordan” is a metaphor (隐喻). It shows Jordan's impressive skills vividly.
Metaphor (隐喻)
An imaginative way of describing something or somebody by referring to something or somebody else that is the same in a particular way.
e.g. She has a heart of stone.
她是个铁石心肠的人。
The sunlight came flooding in when she pulled open the curtain.
她拉开窗帘后,阳光洪水般倾泻进来。
Simile (明喻)
An expression which describes a person or thing as being similar to someone or something else using the words “like”, “as” or “as if” etc.
e.g. Wit without learning is like a tree without fruit.

He sat lonely at the corner of the room, looking cold as a marble.
