Many parents think that it's very difficult to get their children to do chores. But I don't think so.
My daughter is ten years old. At night, I write down her chores for the following day. Then I stick (贴) the paper with chores on her door. Usually she gets three to eight chores a day. It depends on how she does chores. If she does all of her chores well, she can get fewer chores the next day. The chores are some easy ones, such as sweeping the floor, folding the clothes and cleaning the table after dinner.
For my other two children, the chores are different because they are very young. They both know how to put their empty dinner plates in the dishwasher. My 19 - month - old son helps me put the dirty clothes in the washing machine when I'm doing the laundry. They can also help me when I'm working in the yard. They help me pick up the sticks (树枝) and throw them away.
1. The writer's daughter can get ______ chores a day.
A. only two B. less than three C. more than eight D. three to eight

In many Western schools, sports day is a big event. Children take part in competitive (竞争性的) sports, trying to break school records and take the first place.
Sports days, or sports meets, are usually held in the warmer seasons, either at the beginning or the end of the school year. They are also called field days.
Primary school sports days are fun. They usually have activities such as the egg and spoon race and the sack race. Other events include the skipping race (跳绳比赛) and the three - legged race. In middle and high schools, sports days include many of the common track and field events (田径项目). They are more serious and competitive than primary school ones.
Students' parents and other relatives also come to the school on sports days. They watch their children play. Many schools in the West have "mothers and fathers" races for parents to take part in!
Although sports days are exciting, they also have some problems. According to some reports in the USA, sports days have become too competitive to be good for students. Some parents put too much pressure (压力) on the children. Some schools don't have "mothers and fathers" races any more as there is much fighting and cheating.
