Qin Tian, 26, returned from Britain to her hometown of Xiangyang, Hubei Province, for the Spring Festival. And she stayed to help in the fight against COVID-19.
Since January 24, she has collected and given out aid (救援物资) with many volunteers. Between January and March, the most difficult time for medical workers, Qin wore plastic bags so that she could work for 10 hours.
Every morning, Qin helped distribute aid to hospitals, communities and the people in need. In the afternoon she communicated with people to get the latest information about the need. Sometimes, Qin and her father took turns driving the family car to bring aid from another city. They needed to drive for about eight hours for a round trip. It was often 11 p.m. or 4 a.m. when the aid arrived. After arriving, Qin would then help unload (卸) the aid. She took a rest in the office for four or five hours a day, with scabs (痂) on her shoulders. The scabs were from unloading the aid.
Nowadays, everything returns to normal. She hands out daily necessary things to poor people. Those people thank her a lot.
Qin′s idea for volunteer work came from her mother. When she was in junior high school, her mother took her to many places to offer some help.
“The experience touched me a lot. I used to complain (抱怨) about life, such as the strict rules from my parents, but after learning many people were still living in difficulty, I realized that what I should do is to help those in need. Doing meaningful things makes me feel valued (有价值的) and I would like to give lots of my time to that,” she said.

The Beijing Hearing Dog Association has a plan. They plan to choose some stray dogs (流浪狗) and train them. Then the dogs will be able to help the old and the deaf.
They will choose young dogs, because it's easier to train them. The kind of dog is not important.
Twenty -four volunteers will join the training. They all have some experience of keeping dogs and they all love dogs. They will learn a special language first from the coach (教练) and they teach the dogs. This training will take 180 days. Then the better-performed dogs will enter the next training. They will learn to understand different sounds, such as knocking on a door and water boiling. Then the dogs will live with the deaf or the old for 30 days.
