七、阅读理解(共15小题;共30分)
A
Science fiction writers create imaginary worlds. The way things work in your imaginary worlds will be based on actual science. So it's important for you to be familiar with the scientific principles and inventions that are related to your creation. For example, if you're writing about human living on a planet with zero gravity, then you need to know the effects of zero gravity on the human body.
Then you have to figure out the exact rules of your imaginary worlds. And you have to follow them. If humans are able to breathe underwater in Chapter 1, your character can't drown in a swimming pool in Chapter 3. The issue here is maintaining your readers' trust. That means the reader is willing to pretend along with you. If you start out with an ordinary detective novel and then throw in someone breathing underwater in the 6th chapter, you will pull the readers out of their imagination. The same thing happens if you change the rules halfway.
Part of your preparation work for the novel is to map out its worlds in great detail. You should decide the following issues: the history of the world, the geography, what possibilities it offers, how everything works in this new reality, and how all of these factors affect the way your characters think, feel, and react to things. You don't have to tell your readers all the rules in the first chapter. But you have to let readers know enough to understand what's going on. This also allows you to work out logical problems and contradictions before you start writing.
When you are writing, remember to make it feel real. You are inviting readers to visit a new world. They will want to be able to see, hear, feel, smell, and even taste what it's like. Whether your novel is about a world without disease or an undiscovered planet, help your readers feel like they're actually there.
91. What's the relationship between actual science and science fiction
A. Science fiction promotes the development of actual science.
B. Science fiction often reflects the development of actual science.
C. Actual science limits the imagination described in science fiction.
D. Actual science provides basic principles for science fiction.

B
My house is made out of wood, glass and stone. It is also made out of software.
If you come to visit, you'll probably be surprised when you come in. Someone will give you an electronic PIN (个人身份证号) to wear. This PIN tells the house who and where you are. The house uses this information to give you what you need. When it's dark outside, the PIN turns on the lights nearest you, and then turns them off as you walk away from them. Music moves with you too. If the house knows your favorite music, it plays it. The music seems to be everywhere, but in fact other people in the house hear different music or no music. If you get a telephone call, only the nearest telephone rings.
Of course, you are also able to tell the house if you want something. There is a home control console (控制台), a small machine that turns things on and off around you.
The PIN and the console are new ideas, but they are in fact like many things we have today. If you want to go to a movie, you need a ticket. If I give you my car keys, you can use my car. The car works for you because you have the keys. My house works for you because you wear the PIN or hold the console.
I believe that ten years from now, most new homes will have the systems that I've put in my house. I like to try new ideas. I know that some of my ideas will work better than others. But I hope that one day I will stop thinking of these systems as new, and ask myself instead, "How will I live without them "
96. What does the passage mainly discuss

C. Cars in the future. D. The function of the PIN.

A. An IT expert. B. A famous doctor.
C. A farmer. D. An experienced teacher.

Gene Technology to Benefit People
Among all the fast growing science and technology, the research of human genes, or biological engineering as people call it, is drawing more and more attention now. Sometimes it is a hot topic discussed by people.
The greatest thing that gene technology can do is to cure serious diseases that doctors at present can almost do nothing with, such as cancer and heart disease. Every year, millions of people are murdered by these two killers. And to date, doctors have not found an effective way to cure them. But if the gene technology is applied, not only these two diseases can be cured completely, bringing happiness and more living days to the patients, but also the great amount of money people spend on curing their diseases can be saved, therefore it benefits the economy as well. In addition, human life span(寿命) can be prolonged.
Gene technology can help people to give birth to more healthy and clever children. Some families, with the English imperial(皇室) family being a good example, have hereditary(遗传的) diseases. This means their children will for sure have the family disease, which is a great trouble for these families. In the past, doctors could do nothing about hereditary diseases. But gene technology can solve this problem perfectly. The scientist just need to find the wrong gene and correct it and a healthy child will be born.
Some people are worrying that the gene research can be used to manufacture human beings in large quantities. In the past few years, scientists have succeeded in cloning a sheep; therefore these people predict that human babies would soon be cloned. But I believe cloned babies will not come out in large quantities, for most couples in the world can have babies in very normal way. Of course, the governments must take care to control gene technology.
99. What does "these two killers" in the second paragraph refer to
A. Gene technology and another treatment of the two diseases.
B. The two murderers who killed the cloned baby.
C. The two diseases of cancer and heart disease.
D. Hereditary diseases and cancer.
100. What's the main idea of the third paragraph
A. How gene technology can be applied in the field of treating hereditary diseases.
B. Gene technology can be used to clone human babies.
C. Gene technology can help people to give birth of a baby.
D. Gene technology can help the English imperial family out.
101. In what way gene technology can help to treat hereditary diseases
A. Using gene technology, people with hereditary diseases can have more living days.
B. Using gene technology, scientist finds the wrong gene and corrects it.
C. Using gene technology, human babies can be cloned.
D. Doctors can cure cancer and heart disease with the help of gene technology.
102. What is the main purpose of writing this passage
A. Expressing the writer's idea that gene technology will benefit people.
B. Telling people the advantages of gene technology.
C. Telling the readers that gene technology will not benefit people.
D. Explaining that gene technology will also do harm to the humanity.
D
Cloning is suggested as a means of bringing back a relative, usually a child, killed tragically. Some parents can understand that wish, but it must first be recognized that the copy would be a new baby and not the lost child. Here lies the difficulty, for the sad parents are seeking not a new baby but a return of the dead one. Since the original would be fondly remembered as having particular talents and interests, would not the parent s expect the copy to be the same It is possible, however, that the copy would develop quite differently. Is it fair to the new child to be placed in a family with such unnatural expectations
Copying is also suggested as a means by which parents can have the child of their dreams. Couples might choose to have a copy of a film star, baseball player or scientist, depending on their interest. But because personality is only partly the result of genetic inheritance(遗传), conflicts would be sure to arise if the cloned child failed to develop the same interests as the original. What if the copy of Einstein shows no interest in science Or the baseball player turns to acting Success also depends upon fortune. What if the child does not live up to the hopes and dreams of the parents simply because of bad luck
Every child should be wanted for itself, as an individual. In making a copy of oneself or some famous person, a parent is deliberately(深思熟虑地) specifying(详细说明) the way he or she wishes that child to develop. In recent years, particularly in the U.S., much importance has been placed on the right of individuals to reproduce in ways that they wish. So I suggest there is a greater need to consider the interests of the child and to reject these proposed uses of cloning.
103. What in the author's opinion affect the success of parents' dreams
A. The cloned child's interest in Einstein.
B. The cloned child's natural talent.
C. The cloned child's personality.
D. The efforts of the parents.
104. In the third paragraph, the author implies that .
A. the cloned child is viewed as independent
B. the right of growing in his own way is taken away from the cloned child
C. parents carefully protect the rights of the cloned child
D. parents are eager to wish the cloned child to be somebody
105. In this passage, the author is mainly concerned about .
A. the future of a cloned child
B. the possibility of cloning people
C. the importance of cloning a lost child
D. the problems of cloning life
八、短文7选5(5选5等)(共5小题;共10分)
Nowadays, many foreigners marry Chinese. 106. But there are also massive advantages to having a Chinese spouse(配偶) in China. I married my girlfriend of four years in May 2014 and I definitely feel that my life in China would have been much worse without her. Here I'll tell you why I feel this way.
107. The language barrier is a great obstacle for the majority of foreigners living in China and a bilingual Chinese spouse is a huge help in overcoming that obstacle. Not only can your spouse help with interpretation but they will have access to information that is only in Chinese such as job advertisements, housing advertisements, and Internet shopping sites. 108. My wife was very effective in finding students for me as she could read posts on local Internet forums that I cannot, and sometimes even advertise on my behalf.
Your spouse can also offer a unique insight into the mind-set of Chinese people. They can pick up on subtle hints indicated by body language and verbal cues that a foreigner may never be able to. 109. As a result, I avoid many cultural misunderstandings.
110. The family unit is highly respected in China. Older generations rely on their children for support in their old age, and most Chinese feel that family and marriage provide a solid support network that can always be relied upon. Therefore, a foreigner with a Chinese spouse doesn't find him/herself seen as a temporary worker who is "just passing through". I have personally found that when my wife and I are together I am treated with a bit more respect.
A. Firstly, you can overcome the language barrier.
B. I used to work as a salesman.
C. You can become part of a collective whole.
D. Cross-cultural relationships can be hugely challenging.
E. They act as a key bridge between cultures with vastly different styles of communication.
F. How do I get along with my wife's parents
G. I used to work as a private teacher.

I can't swim so I have a strong fear of water. Look back at my childhood, I think that three reasons might explain fear. Firstly, I am not allowed to go near the water when I was a child, as my mother had an unreasonable fear of it. Therefore, I was taught to see to the water as something danger. Secondly, my eyes became bad when I was five. If I took off my glass in the water, I couldn't see something, and this increased my fear. What's worse, for a child I once saw a neighbor drowned. Since then I have been more frightening.
