一.教材分析
八年级下册Unit 6 An old man tried to move the mountains. Section A 部分的主题是中国民间神话故事。主题图呈现了女娲补天,后羿射日,大闹天宫,愚公移山四个家喻户晓的神话故事。本部分以中国神话故事为主线,要求学生能够听懂用英语叙述的故事,并能根据故事的相关信息发表自己的观点,模仿和运用语言。
第一课时Section A 1a—2d,这是本单元的开篇课,因此以听说为主,为后面的课时做铺垫。本部分的教学重点是让学生学会讲述故事,在讲述过程中恰当使用连词,并能根据故事的相关信息发表自己的观点,模仿和运用语言。本部分的教学难点是将学生熟悉的中国神话故事内容转换为符合英语表达习惯和思维的语言表达。
教学目标
1、语言交流目标:通过本节的学习能够学会讲述故事,在讲述过程中恰当使用连词。并能根据故事的相关信息发表自己的观点,模仿和运用语言。培养学生多种渠道学习的能力,如独自学习、在合作中学习、在课堂中学习等等。
3、思维认知目标:通过本节课的学习,培养学生分析问题、构建新的语言概念的能力,培养学生的批判性思维和创造性思维。
4、社会文化目标:通过本节课的学习培养学生形成正确的价值取向,教育学生不惧困难,养成坚韧不拔,永不放弃的精神。
三、教学过程
Step I:Lead-in
教师抛出两个问题:Do you like reading stories Do you know any Chinese fairy tales
2、学生头脑风暴,畅所欲言所想到的中国神话故事,回答教师的提问。
【设计意图】从学生感兴趣的话题出发,引出本节课的主题---中国神话故事,同时由于一些神话故事的英语名称学生不会说,激发学生的求知欲望。
Step II: Warming up
1、教师出示1a 四个故事的图片,教师呈现四个神话故事的英文名称,同时猜测shoot的意思。
2、让学生将图画和英语名称匹配,完成1a任务。
【设计意图】通过本环节,使学生熟悉四个神话故事的英语名称,同时提示学生书名,故事名,寓言名的大小写规则,培养学生规范书写的习惯。
Step Ⅲ: Listening
学生阅读1b活动要求,浏览所列的三个句子。教师对听力任务提出明确的要求,首先听录音,在听到的事实前打。然后回答问题:Anna 和 Wang Ming 正在谈论哪个故事。
播放听力,让学生独立完成1b并核对答案。
再次播放听力,完成自创的听力填表。(听力填表在下一页)
4.通过图片的形式核对听力填表的答案。适时对学生进行语言知识和文化知识的渗透,如讲故事时往往会以once upon a time 开头,与学生实际生活相联系,我们在解决问题前要设立目标等等。

【设计意图】此环节以听力的形式让学生对《愚公移山》这一传说故事的英文表述有大致的了解。同时由于课本1c的难度太大,因此进行了整合,把其改编为听力填表,降低了难度,使学生对故事的起因,经过有更深入的了解,同时囊括了1c的三个问题,为后面讲故事做铺垫。适时对学生进行语言知识和文化知识的渗透,同时构建结构化知识,使学生对故事的结构有大致了解。
Step Ⅳ:Critical Thinking
1、教师引导:愚公打算通过移山解决他的问题,然后提问:你有其他的好方式来解决愚公的问题吗?。
2、学生畅所欲言,找出其他可行的办法
【设计意图】英语学科的核心素养要求发展学生的批判性思维和创造性思维。通过比较各种移山的方式,对学生进行情感教育:在遇到问题时,要尝试分析问题并找出最好的解决办法。
Step Ⅴ:Listening
出示2a中四幅图片,询问学生 What were they doing in each picture 并引领学生描述四幅图片的内容。播放听力之前,引导学生熟悉人物的动作。
播放听力,让学生给图片编号。
再次播放听力,圈出所听到的单词。
通过图片的形式核对听力填表的答案。在核对答案的过程中抛出一些创造性的问题,比如1.In Yu Gong’s opinion,who can help him move the mountain 2.Who moved the mountains finally 3.Without God’s help ,do you think Yu Gong will succeed 4. What’s Yu Gong Spirit
【设计意图】2a、2b的听力文本巩固和补充了1a-1c的语言输入,增加了as soon as,but,so,finally等连词用于故事的叙述,使交际语言更丰富,更完整。同时英语学科核心素养要求发展学生的思维品质和文化品格,强调情感教育的过程渗透。
StepⅥ :Method instruction(方法指导)
在完成了整个故事的叙述后,通过思维导图总结指导讲述故事的方法,同时强调连词的使用。
【设计意图】对学生进行学习策略指导,构建知识化结构。
StepⅦ:Tell the story.
学生四人一组,每组负责一张图片,对故事进行复述,要求学生根据思维导图和图片以故事接龙的形式讲述故事,并给予适当的评价和鼓励。
【设计意图】此环节是对目标语言的再一次的输出,是本节课教学重点——让学生学会讲述故事,在讲述过程中恰当使用连词的训练。图片和思维导图的使用大大降低了讲故事的难度,同时故事接龙的形式增加了课堂的趣味性和灵活性。
StepⅧ:Role-play
1.教师以简单的语言导入2d对话的语境:Finally,a God was moved by Yu Gong and sent two Gods to move the mountains away. 然后追问:What do you think about the story of YuGong 要求学生用简单的形容词初步发表自己的观点。然后引出我们的朋友Claudia and Wang Ming有不同的观点。
2.让学生默读细读对话2d,要求他们根据所读内容整理个人的观点并完成下面的表格。
