The world's most lovely robotic cat had its 50th birthday in 2020. To celebrate it, the new film Doraemon: Nobita's New Dinosaur (《哆啦A梦:大雄的新恐龙》) came out in Chinese mainland theatres on 11th December 2020.
Japanese cartoonist Fujiko Fujio first created the Doraemon comics in 1970. The character later became popular outside of Japan and has been made into some cartoons and movies. Over the past 54 years, it has become a part of many people's childhoods, as well as one of Japan's cultural stars, according to The Japanese Times.
"Doraemon must have done something right and that's why it is successful. The cat's cute and special look easily catches people's eye," Sohu News said. Fujio wanted to create the character after seeing a cat knocking over a tumbler(不倒翁). His blue robotic cat with around head, body and fists was born.
Doraemon's creative stories also make him attractive. Jim Davis is Garfield's creator(创造者). Jim was born on 28th July, 1945 in Indiana. He grew up on a farm where his dad raised cows. Jim and his brother Dave helped with the farm work. They had 25 cats. Their mum always made sure there was plenty of food for the cats.
As a boy, Jim was in poor health. When he had to spend time resting, he drew pictures. He added words to his pictures to make them funny.
