一、阅读理解
When you feel a sneeze (喷嚏)or cough coming on, covering your mouth prevents the spread of germs (细菌). You probably knew that.
But how to cover your mouth is very important. You might use tissues (纸巾), and put your used tissues into the bin. "If you don't have tissues, you should sneeze into your elbow, not your hand, even if you are used to doing that," the doctors advised.
"If somebody sneezes into his hands, those germs will be passed on to other people, or other objects that people touch," said Dr. Hill.
Germs are most commonly spread by sneezing and coughing. When they land on your hands, they are passed from hands to things like bills, door knobs (把手), elevator buttons (电梯按钮)and other surfaces. At the same time, the people around you can touch them.
This isn't nagging (唠叨). The Centers for Disease Control also suggest that sneezing and coughing into your elbow is necessary. Even the New York City subway officers ask the passengers to" cough or sneeze into elbows or use a tissue".
"The suggestion was taken seriously about 10years ago. However, most people didn't pay much attention to it. That means the adults may have missed the advice. But children are often taught in school the right way to cough or sneeze, "Dr. Benjamin said.
To be clear, people can't keep away from ail the risks in this way, but it's the best choice. At the same time, we'd better wear masks (口罩) and often wash our hands. "Hand washing is one of the most important things people can do to keep healthy, "Dr. Hill said.

There is an old saying in English, "Laughter is the best medicine". Until recently, few people took the saying very seriously. Now however, doctors have begun to study laughter and the effects(作用) it has on the human body. They have found evidence that laughter really can improve people's health.
Tests were carried out to study the effects of laughter on the body. People watched funny films while doctors checked their heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and muscles. It was found that laughter has similar effects to physical exercise. It increases blood pressure, the heart rate and the rate of breathing. It also works several groups of muscles in the face, the stomach and even the feet. If laughter exercises the body, it must be helpful.
Other tests have shown that laughter appears to make the effect of pain on the body less. In one experiment doctors produced pain in groups of students who listened to different radio programs. The group which could bear the pain for the longest time was the group which listened to a funny program. The reason why laughter can make pain less seems to be that it helps to produce endorphins( 内啡肽) in the brain. These are natural chemicals which make both stress and pain less.
There is also some evidence to suggest that laughter helps the body's immune system that is the system which fights infection(感染). In an experiment, one group of students watched a funny video while another group served as the control group--in other words, a group with which to compare the first group. Doctors checked the blood of the students in both groups and found that the people in the group that watched the video had an increase in the activity of their white blood cells that is the cells which fight infection.
As a result of these discoveries, some doctors and psychiatrists(精神病学) in the United States now hold laughter clinics, in which they try to improve their patients' condition by encouraging them to laugh. They have found that even if their patients do not really feel like laughing, making them smile is enough to produce good effects similar to those caused by laughter.

If you're feeling tired and stressed because you have too much going on, like lots of after-school activities, you might feel better if you drop something, even if it's just for a term or so. Sometimes lots of activities — even if they're all fun — can make you feel stressed by keeping you busy all the time. On the other hand, if problems at home are troubling you, in fact some after-school activities may help you relax and feel better.
There are also relaxation exercises that you can use to get rid of stress. The easiest one to do is to breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. Do this two to four times.
You can do exercises like these anytime, without anyone noticing. You can even do breathing exercises in class if you're nervous before a test.
The best way to keep stress away is to have a balanced life. That means making good decisions about how to spend your time. If you're only dealing with schoolwork and have no time to play, you can get stressed. Make sure you keep your SELF in mind: Sleep, Exercise, Leisure (something fun), and Food.
