Covering over 170,000 hectares, the bio-diverse Hasdeo Aranya forest bears the burden of being resource-rich.It sits on top of some 5.6 billion tons of coal, making it one of India's largest reserves—and the focus of intense interest from coal companies. But the forests,as well as the animals, birds and many small creatures in this area, are facing the risk of being destroyed.
Shukla spent his childhood in his hometown surrounded by the natural beauty.Growing up,he found himself drawn to environmental activism. He met other activists, visited various parts and
英语试题 第3页(共8页)
saw first-hand how polluted its rivers were and how quickly industries were springing up.
Meanwhile, multiple movements and organizations were fighting similar battles,so Shukla managed to bring them together, creating one strong platform that could expand their struggles at the state level. One of Shukla's biggest successes was to organize farmers to protest a limestone(石灰 岩 )mining project that endangered the lakes there. As a result of their extensive effort, the project was terminated.
In 2011,a large company wanted to open up new mines in the forest and that was pressurizing local communities. But the people of the area lacked any legal know-how and were easily taken in by widespread misinformation.Shukla started educating the residents about their rights. He made the residents aware of the law, their rights, and then find the safeguards to protect themselves.
However, there were both victories and setbacks during Shukla's 12-year-long fight. For instance, the central government had proposed 21 coal blocks in 2020.The next year 1,995 square kilometers of the forest was designated as a reserve, and 1,700 square kilometers declared as a mining-free zone. But there are still a few areas where the threat exists. There is also the danger to his own safety.
However, hope remains, thanks to a generation of young environmentalists emerging from these communities.“The dream is that not a single tree should be cut for mining against the wishes of the community. And if society places more stress on protecting the environment, governments will be forced to act,"Shukla concludes.
24.What has drawn people's attention to the Hasdeo Aranya forest
A.Its rich biodiversity and unique wildlife.
B.Its vast reserves of coal beneath the forest.
C.Its cultural significance to local communities.
D.Its potential for eco-tourism and sustainable development.
25.What does the underlined word"terminated"in paragraph 3 probably mean
A.Acknowledged. B.Canceled. C.Assessed. D.Justified.
26.What does Shukla hope for in the future
A.Communities should prioritize economic development.
B.More young people can engage in environmental protection.
C.Environmental awareness can influence government actions.
D.The government should strengthen their control over forest resources.
27.Which of the following words can be used to describe Shukla
A.Responsible and determined. B.Humble and ambitious.
C.Open-minded and honest. D.Selfless and considerate.

I talked with a friend recently who is overwhelmed by her workload. She asked me what tips I might have for her around time management. That question surprised me.I've never thought of myself as someone with great time management skills, mostly because I tend to avoid rigid productivity systems, believing that they limit creativity.
It wasn't until we parted that it hit me.I don't focus on time management, but on energy management.Somewhere along the way,I learned that the time something takes is secondary to energy.I would argue that you could work six hours on a task that gives you energy and feel fresh and ready for what's next.Or,you could spend three hours on a tiring and unfulfilling task and need to check out for the rest of the day.
I'm a fan of making lists and getting things crossed off the list. But maturity has taught me that satisfaction comes not from crossing things off the list, but intentionality about what goes on the list.If everything on the list is an energy waste, how will it feel to get those things done
Russ Hudson,a teacher, said something recently that blew the doors open for me on this concept. He spoke about the energy of frustration(懊恼),but it could be applied to any negative emotion. He said that frustration is an addictive emotion because it causes us to be stressed. Hudson said,"Life force gets trapped in frustration."So that extensive energy I spend being
英语试题 第4页(共8页)
frustrated is trapping life force energy that might go to more useful, productive, creative pursuits.
In a world that often focuses on getting the most out of every hour,it's about time we should change our focus. We should pay attention to how our energy changes throughout the day,and learn how to create, use, and save it.It's not hard to start thinking this way.We just need to be more aware of ourselves and make careful choices.
28.Why is the author's friend mentioned in paragraph 1
A.To lead in the topic. B.To clarify a definition.
C.To present a common phenomenon. D.To share a personal experience.
29.What is the author's core argument about productivity
A.Completing tasks quickly guarantees satisfaction.
B.Making task lists lays the foundation for achievements.
C.Energy management matters more than time management
D.Strict time management systems are essential for success.
30.According to Russ Hudson, why is frustration problematic
A.It wastes time that could be used for work.
B.It makes people ignorant of their limitations.
C.It leaves people trapped in their comfort zone.
D.It stops people pursuing something meaningful in life.
31.What might be talked about following the last paragraph
A.Ways to reduce negative emotions in work.
B.The relationship between energy and creativity.
C.The disadvantages of focusing on time management.
D.Examples of managing energy through awareness and choices.

The sun likes to remind us that Earth is merely one part of a joint system.Despite our connection with the sun, there are still numerous scientific mysteries to uncover about this critical star, particularly its magnetic field(磁场) . Now,for the first time, scientists have taken nearly daily measurements of the sun's coronal( 日 冕 的 ) magnetic field and this observation offers a more dynamic view of this solar region.
The solar magnetic field is the primary driver of solar storms and flares. As society grows increasingly reliant on technology, this space weather generates threats to power networks, communication systems, and in-space technologies like GPS and satellites.“Global mapping of the coronal magnetic field has been a big missing part in the study of the sun,"said Zihao Yang,a postdoctoral fellow from Peking University in China."This research is helping us fill a crucial gap in our understanding of coronal magnetic fields, which are the source of the energy for storms that can impact Earth."
Scientists have been able to routinely measure the magnetic field on the sun's surface.Large telescopes like the Daniel K.Inouye Solar Telescope(DKIST),which is the world's largest solar telescope, can measure the three-dimensional coronal magnetic fields in depth. It recently demonstrated its ability to make detailed observations of the coronal magnetic field. However, DKIST can't map the sun all at once.
To try to get more overall mapping, the team turned to the Upgraded Coronal Multi-channel Polar meter(UCOMP).UCOMP can block out parts of the sun.It uses a disc called a corona graph to enable scientists to measure the sun's atmosphere.UCOMP has a much smaller aperture(光圈) compared to DKIST,but it can take a wider view, which makes it possible for scientists to study the entire sun on most days.
“We are entering a new age of solar physics research when we can routinely measure the coronal magnetic field,"said Yang.Using DKIST's and UCOMP's measurements together offers a more all-sided view of the coronal magnetic field.
英语试题 第5页(共8页)
32.What is the significance of the new observation of the sun's coronal magnetic field
A.It reveals the source of the sun's energy.
B.It helps us fully understand the solar system.
C.It enables us to predict solar storms accurately.
D.It allows further insight into a certain solar region.
33.What does Zihao Yang think of the research
A.It's well-received. B.It's risk-free.
C.It's pioneering. D.It's misleading.
34.What is the main advantage of UCOMP compared to DKIST
A.It provides a wider view of the sun.
B.It has a larger aperture for higher-quality images.
C.It can measure the sun's magnetic field in greater depth
D.It can block out the sun's light for better measurements.
35.What is the main idea of the text
A.The importance of solar physics research.
B.The comparison between DKIST and UCOMP.
C.The sun's magnetic field and its impact on Earth.
D.The new progress in measuring the sun's coronal magnetic field.

In the competitive job market, the best advice for job seekers is to move away from mass- submitting resumes(简历)and instead focus on sending thoughtful cold emails. 36 .They are clarity about your goals, effective articulation, and identifying the right recipient.
The process begins by creating a targeted list of dream companies, specific roles, and relevant contacts. 37 —understand their responses to market shifts, analyze brand messaging, and observe key employees' online presence. This research forms the foundation for a well-informed perspective on the company, which will inform your email content. When crafting your email, follow a proven framework:
1.Confirm Job Availability:Start with a direct question like“ 38 ”This initiates dialogue and sets the stage for a meaningful response, avoiding generic introductions.
2.Demonstrate Research-Based Context:Share insights about recent developments at the company or within its market.Highlighting a recent product launch, strategic initiative,or new partnership shows genuine interest and aligns your goals with the company's objectives.
3.Highlight Your Strengths:Connect your skills directly to the company's needs.Explain how your strengths can contribute to their growth, solve problems,or enhance their competitive edge.
39 .Analysis of millions of successful emails shows that the most effective ones are between 25-50 words and written at a third-to fifth grade reading level.Short paragraphs and simple sentences yield better engagement.Personalized, thoughtful emailing is a game-changer. Although only 4.1%of emails are manually personalized, those who invest the effort see significant rewards. For job seekers willing to go the extra mile, this approach offers substantial benefits.
In summary, transitioning from mass submissions to personalized cold emails requires

It was unseasonally hot in the Australian state of New South Wales.By mid-afternoon on Thursday, the sun was beating down and the clear blue skies showed no signs of the forecast rain. Adrian Main was doing what he loved, working outside in the bushes(灌木丛) that surround the leafy suburbs of Sydney.
Guided by his love of mountain-bike riding,Adrian had founded Synergy Trails,a construction company that specialized in installing narrow, winding dirt-bike trails in the bushes for weekend and competition riders. It was dusty, dirty work at times, but with the trees providing shade and the only noise coming from his team and the local birds, there wasn't any place he'd rather be.
Over the years, the 40-year-old had encountered poisonous creatures while working around in soil, including poisonous spiders and snakes, but he knew how to distinguish the non-threatening ones from the really dangerous ones.Adrian was trained in first aid, though he never seriously thought he'd need it.
With the clock ticking down towards the start of the weekend,Adrian had only a few chores left to do.His tool was in his vehicle, parked some 50 metres away.He considered getting it,but the job was small, and only a light dig was necessary to get beneath the shallow soil and leaf litter. So he used his hands instead. However, just as his fingers slid under the pile of leaves,he felt a sharp, deep pain in his left hand.Adrian quickly pulled out his hand, only to see a spider on his left index finger. The five-centimetre-long black creature had its sharp teeth firmly cut into the skin. The pain felt as if a nail were being hammered into his finger.
He shook his hand up and down hard to throw off the spider, and it finally dropped to the ground. It was a fully grown male Sydney funnel-web,the most poisonous spider in Australia.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Adrian's heart sank when he realized what kind of spider had bitten him.
Within half an hour, they reached the hospital.
