1. There was no library in my old school.
我以前的学校里没有图书馆。
★（某地）过去没有某事物”的表达:
There was/were no+某事物（+其他）.
这是there be结构的一般过去时的否定形式。
★ 当某事物是可数名词单数或不可数名词
时，be动词用was。当某事物是可数名词复
数时，be动词用were。

★ tell为动词，常见用法有：
tell sb. about sth. 告诉某人关于某事
tell sb. to do sth. 叫/让某人做某事
tell sb. sth.=tell sth. to sb.告诉某人某事
★ about意为“关于”，后接想要了解的信息。
about还可意为“大约”，常用在数词前表示
概数。

★ could作为can的过去式，表示能力或可能性

★ 比较委婉客气地提出问题或陈述看法

4. How do you know that
你怎么知道的？
★ 询问某人是如何知道某事的句型结构
How+do/does+主语+know+其他？
★ how意为“怎样；如何”，用来询问方式。
★ 回答时可以直接说明知道某事的方式或途
径。
询问过去某人怎么知道某事时，只需要把
do/does改为其过去式did

★ look up意为“（在词典中或通过电脑）查
阅”。
★ 后接宾语时，若宾语是名词，用“look+名词
+up”或“look up+名词”的结构；若宾语是代

构。

Summary

tell可接双宾语：
tell sb. sth./ tell sth.to sb.告诉某人某事 例：她告诉我一件事。
She tells me a thing.
＝She tells a thing to me.
be going to 的用法
be going to 打算，将要……
“be”会根据主语的人称变化成“is, am, are”等形式。
例：我打算这学期努力学习。
I am going to work hard this term.
下星期日他将看望他的祖父母。
He’s going to visit his grandparents
next Sunday.
主语是人。
例：昨天晚上我花了三个小时才到家。
I took three hours to get home last night.
主语是活动。
例：粉刷厨房花了我整整一个星期。
Painting the kitchen took me all week.
take 的用法
主语是it。
结构：It takes sb. some time to do sth.
例：晚上他要花一个小时做作业。
It takes him an hour to do his
homework in the evening.
or的用法
or用于否定句相当于“and +前面所有否定词”，表示“也不，亦不”的意思。
例：他从来不吸烟也不喝酒。
He never smokes or drinks.
月球上没有空气也没有水。
