After reflecting on the past few years of my transition to the triathlon (铁人三项), I am most proud of the
gains I have made in swimming. Actually, this is my weakest one of the three, but I have worked at it, stuck
with it and am motivated by small successes.
My heart still jumps when I remember that night six months ago when I swam 2,100m for the first time. I
was planning to swim 1, 800m and could not believe my eyes when I saw 2,100m on my watch. At that point, I
realized that I had the endurance, and speed needed to become my focus.
Last year, after participating in my first triathlon, I increased my time in the pool to 4 or 5 times a week. I
swam once a week in a master swim club. Impressed by the power and speed of other swimmers around me, I
found my spot in Lane l, the slow lane, to work on different strokes (游泳姿势) and speed. This was great
because I became more comfortable with pool toys, worked different muscle groups other than those used in
freestyle, and I realized that I was not always slow.
There is nothing better than a bit of individual attention to help improve. During the summer, I had 4
classes with a swim coach to work on my technique as we both knew that I had to improve that before I could
get faster in the water. We changed my catch, corrected my pull and strengthened my kick.
The combination of these has made a huge difference in how I swim. There is still quite a bit of work
ahead of me. I have no doubt that I will continue to grow as a swimmer. With goals being set and new dreams
to chase (追逐), pool time is about to get a lot more interesting.
28.Why did the author still remember the feeling after finishing 2,100m six months ago
A.She made a breakthrough in swimming.
B.Her watch was out of order in the water.
C.She was satisfied with her swimming speed.

29.Which of the following best describes the author
A.Strong-minded and humorous. B.Determined and motivated.
C.Diligent and easygoing. D.Aggressive and stubborn.
30.Where does the pleasure of pool time lie according to the author
A.Filling the schedule with enough training. B.Setting a goal and working towards it.
C.Sharpening skills to beat others in matches. D.Competing with others and getting achievements.
31.What can we learn from the passage
A.It’s never too late to learn. B.All that ends well is well.
C.Where there’s a will, there’s a way. D.Action speaks louder than words.

ChatGPT, designed by OpenAI to carry on conversations just like humans, has become a viral
excitement. The AI-powered tool went from zero to a million users in just five days! Its ability to provide
in-depth answers to user questions has even drawn the attention of distinguished technology companies.
The intelligent robot understands what the user says or types and then responds in a way that makes
sense. Its vast body of knowledge has been gathered from the internet and archived books. It is further trained
by humans. This makes ChatGPT a useful tool for researching almost any topic.
“We have a lot of information on the internet, but you normally have to Google it, then read it and then
do something with it,” says Ricardo, chief science officer and co-founder of AI company Erudit. “Now you’ll
have this resource that can process the whole internet and all of the information it contains for you to answer
your question.”
ChatGPT cannot think on its own. It depends on the information that it has been trained on. As a result;
the AI tool works well for things that have accurate data available. However, when unsure, ChatGPT can get creative and flow out incorrect responses. OpenAI cautions users to check the information no matter how
logical it sounds. Also, ChatGPT has only been trained with information till 2021. Hence, it cannot be relied
upon for anything that happened after that.
Experts believe ChatGPT has limitless potential to solve real-world problems. It can translate long texts
into different languages, create content on almost any topic, and even summarize books.
However, ChatGPT has received mixed reactions from educators. Some believe it could serve as a
valuable tool to help build literacy skills in the classroom. It could also be used to teach students difficult
science or math concepts. But other educators think ChatGPT will encourage students to cheat. They fear this
will prevent them from building critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As a result, many districts are
starting to ban its use in schools.
32.What is the unique feature of ChatGPT
A.It has artificial intelligence. B.It can engage in meaningful conversations.
C.It has the largest number of users. D.It can answer users' questions.
33.What makes ChatGPT helpful to research various topics
A.Its accurate information. B.Its capability of information processing.

34.Why do ChatGPT users have to be cautious when using it

Jenny was the only child in her home. She had a quarrel (争吵) with her mother that afternoon and she
ran out of the house angrily. She couldn’t help weeping (哭泣) sorrowfully when she thought of the scolding
(责备) from her mother. Having wandered (闲逛) aimlessly in the street for hours, she felt a little hungry and
wished for something to eat, but it was not even possible for her, since she had nothing with her. She stood
beside a stand (摊位) for a while, watching the middle-aged seller busy doing his business. However, with no
money in hand, she sighed and had to leave.
The seller behind the stand noticed the young girl and asked, “Hey, girl, you want to have the noodles ”
“Oh, yes… but I don’t have money on me” she replied. “That’s nothing. I’ll treat you today,”said the man, “come in.”
The seller brought her a bowl of noodles, whose smell was so attractive. As she was eating, Jenny cried
silently. “What is it ” asked the man kindly. “Nothing, actually I was just touched by your kindness!” said
Jenny as she wiped her tears, “Even a stranger on the street will give me a bowl of noodles, while my mother,
drove me out of the house. She showed no care for me. She is so merciless (无情的) compared to a stranger!”
Hearing the words, the seller smiled “Girl, do you really think so I only gave you a bowl of noodles and
you thanked me a lot. But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby. Can you number the
times she cooked for you Have you expressed your gratitude to her ”
Jenny sat there, speechless and numb (呆滞的)with shock; she remembered mother’s familiar face and
weathered (饱经风霜的) hands. “Why did I not think of that A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel

67.Approaching the doorway, Jenny took a deep breath. She could hear her own heart beating loudly in her ears.
Her hand trembled slightly as she reached for the doorknob. As she entered, she saw her mother sitting in the dimly
lit living room. Jenny walked slowly towards her, her steps heavy with guilt. “Mom,” she said softly, “I’m back. I’m
so sorry for what I did. I was so blind and ungrateful. You’ve given me so much love and care all these years, and I
repaid you with rudeness.”
A gentle touch on her hair called her mind back. Jenny looked into her mother’s eyes, which were filled with
a mixture of relief and love. Her mother cupped her face in her hands and said, “My dear, I was so worried about
you. I’m just glad you’re safe.” They hugged each other tightly. Jenny realized that this was the place where she
truly belonged, and that her mother’s love was an unbreakable bond. From then on, she made it a point to be more
patient and understanding with her mother, knowing that every moment spent with her was a precious gift. Because
in the end, it was the love of family that could heal all wounds and make one whole again.
