Treatment
If you have a first - degree burn, follow these steps:
- Cool the burnt area under cool running water.
- Remove jewellery(去除配饰) and loose clothing, unless stuck to the burn.
- Apply(涂抹) a burn ointment(药膏) or aloe vera(芦荟). Don't use ice, eggs or oil.
- Cover the burnt area with a clean cloth.
If the burn is serious, call 120 or go to the hospital at once.

We usually go to see a doctor when we are ill. Doctors may give us some medicine, and the medicine often makes us feel better.
But sometimes the doctor’s medicine doesn’t work. This happened to one man, Thomas Smith. He was ill in hospital, but he wasn’t getting well. Then he found “doctor” inside himself. And something funny happened. Laughing took away his pain. He read funny books. He saw funny films. Half a year later, he could have a good night’s rest.
