Pre-reading
I did a fun project in my neighbourhood yesterday. The topic was “How do you like your neighbourhood ” Our teacher asked us to interview people with different jobs.
First, I went to Mr Wang’s tailor shop. He was busy but still answered my questions. “I like my job and I like this neighbourhood. I have many friends here. People help one another in this neighbourhood. This is a friendly place. ”
My second stop was Ms Li’s bakery. It was warm inside and full of yummy treats. “I get up at 5:00 a.m. every day to make bread. It is ready by 6:30 a.m. I am busy but happy. The people here are kind and polite. “
After the bakery, I visited a grocery store, a flower shop, a bookstore, and a clothing shop. I learned a lot about the people in my neighbourhood. They think this neighbourhood is nice and clean. Doing the interviews was fun.

(1)a.m./p.m.也可用am/pm或A.M./P.M.表示。
西方国家按十二小时制,通常以正午12点为界,午前12小时用a.m.表示,午后12小时用p.m.表示。
(2)其用法为“时刻(数字)+a.m./p.m.”,相当于“时刻(数字)+in the morning/afternoon/evening”。

“It's ready.” 的中文释义为 “它准备好了。”,“be ready” 后面可以接介词 “for”,表示 “为…… 做好准备”,如 “It's ready for the party.”(它为聚会做好了准备。)
“be ready” 后面也可以接动词不定式 “to do sth.”,表示 “准备好做某事”,如 “It's ready to be used.”(它准备好被使用了。)
e.g. The meal is ready. Let's eat. 饭准备好了。我们吃吧。
