Lead in
1 Read the passage and complete the mind map.
My name is Michael and I live in Highland village.
There is a pond near my house. During the winter, it freezes and I can play hockey on it with my friends.
There is also a new shopping centre in my neighbourhood. It’s only three blocks from my house. It has a grocery store, a bank, a bookstore and a movie theatre. My mum and dad shop at the grocery store. Sometimes I go with them.
My favourite place in the neighbourhood is the bookstore. I like to go there on weekends. It’s quiet and the chairs are very comfortable. Sometimes I read for the whole afternoon.
My neighbours are kind and polite. It seems everyone enjoys a nice life here.
