One day，Ms. Liu received an e mail from Rose，her English friend. Rose just took a weekend trip with her husband to the countryside. She said they had a wonderful shopping experience.

Along a small road，we saw a sign on a gate:“Fresh Eggs for Sale”. We parked the car and walked into the shop. No one was around. Then I saw another sign：“Help Yourself！” On the table，there was a note：“Please take eggs from the baskets and leave your money in the box. We appreciate your honesty！”We were surprised to find that the farmer was so trusting. I took my eggs and put some money in the box. On our way home，I wondered if everyone would be honest.

When Ms. Liu read this story, she smiled. She had an idea. She would help her students open this kind of shop at her school. Students could take things from the shop and leave money in a box. The shop would raise money for school activities.
It was a great idea! Ms. Liu believed that most people want to be honest. This shop would be a good way for students to learn the value of honesty. The perfect motto for this shop would be,“Take what you need. Give what you can. We trust you！”

Last Sunday，I went to a store to buy a birthday gift for my friend. I spent one hour choosing a good gift and I went over to the seller to pay for it. The gift cost me 50 yuan. Then I gave a ￥50 note to him and he gave me a bag for taking the gift. When I walked out of the store，I found a ￥50 note in the bag which was very familiar to mine. Suddenly I realized it was the note that I gave to the seller. I went back to the seller. He didn’t realize he put the note into the bag instead of his pocket until I took the note to him.
After that，some people think I am honest while some feel it is foolish of me to give the money back. What about your opinion

help yourself意思是“请随意”,一般招待客人或者请他人自便去做某事的时候用的礼貌用语。help oneself to sth意思是“自己取用……”,其中反身代词oneself要随着所指的人而发生变化。

2.We were surprised to find that the farmer was so trusting.
句中句式“Sb + be 动词+ 形容词+ to do sth.”,动词不定式用在表示情感的形容词后面表示原因。be surprised to…意思是“惊讶于……,对……感到惊讶”She was surprised to hear that news.

1). surprise作名词时,意思是“意想不到的事情”, 通常用于以下
短语之中:
① to one’s surprise令某人惊讶的是……

③get a surprise吃了一惊。
If he comes,she will get a surprise.
④take/catch sb by surprise 出乎某人意料。

2) surprising 也是形容词,意思是“令人吃惊的”,一般用来
修饰物, 表示某物令人吃惊。类似的词语还有:
excited—exciting, amazed—amazing, bored—boring等。

3.On our way home,I wondered if everyone would be honest.
wonder 是及物动词,意思是“想知道”,后常接if或whether引导
的宾语从句,表示请求或提出疑问。 I wonder if she will come.
【拓展】　
(1)wonder 后还可接疑问词where,when,who,how,why,what等引导
的宾从或者构成短语: 疑问词+动词不定式。
I wonder when she will come.
I wonder where to buy clothes.
(2)wonder也可作不及物动词,意思是“感到吃惊”, 常用短语是
wonder at/about sth 意思是“对……感到吃惊”。
I wonder at/about her mind.
4. I wondered if everyone would be honest.
honest adj. 坦白的；诚实的
eg: His father is an honest businessman.
honest是形容词，在句中可作定语或表语，其前可用quite，perfectly, very 等副词修饰。 honest是以元音音素开头的单词，
当表示“一个诚实的……”时，前面要用不定冠词an。
eg: That boy is quite honest.
