the ancient walled city of Gaochang, near Turpan(吐鲁番), Xinjiang, also called “Little Chang’an”
1.Are there any places like Machu Picchu in China
In what ways are they like
In Tang Dynasty, Zhang Qian travelled to Xiyu and influenced the people there greatly. They built a city like Chang’an. However, the city was destroyed by war in the 14th century.
1.Are there any places like Machu Picchu in China
In what ways are they like
Gaochang is like Machu Picchu in that at one time it was a great city, but no one lives there any longer. The city lies in ruins. However it becomes a tourist attaction, showing the past prosperity.
2. Should tourism be stopped in places like Machu Picchu Why or why not
Some of you think that tourism in such places should be stopped because it pollutes the environment, destroys cultural relics or may lead to overdevelopment.
Others think that tourism in such places shouldn’t be stopped because it allows us to enjoy the scenery, learn about culture and develop economy.
Every coin has two sides.
While such places need to be protected, this should be balanced by the need for the world to see and experience their wonders, and the need for local people to make a living.
My opinion
