among在……之中。一般指在三者或三者以上之中。
between在……之间。一般指在两者之间，常用结构between… and…意为“在……和……之间”。

辨析
可与不定冠词a连用，表示“令人惋惜的事；让人遗憾的事”。it’s a shame意为“真遗憾；多可惜啊”，可单独使用，相当于what a shame或that’s a shame，也可接动词不定式或that引导的从句。
