作文一范文
To arouse students' awareness of physical workout and help build up their bodies, our annual sports meeting kicked off on the playground last Friday, attracting widespread attention and intensive press coverage.
The sports meeting highlights a large variety of events, ranging from the competitive tug of war to thrilling track and field games like relay races and hurdles. All the athletes gave their all for the glory of their own class, sweating on the sports field with their classmates cheering and clapping for them.
Exhausted as we were, we did benefit a lot from this activity. It was through this event that importance was attached to building up our body, going beyond ourselves and being united as one.
作文二范文
One day, however,Mary came with good news. She told her the school music festival was to be held the next month and that her classmates all expected her to sing on behalf of her class.“Really?”Jane exclaimed with excitement, but immediately with her head hanging down. She murmured,“I am afraid I'm not capable of it.”Feeling her hesitation and the lack of confidence,Mary and I said some encouraging words and persuaded her to sign up for it.In the following month, she engaged herself wholeheartedly in practicing singing.Under Mary’s guidance ,she made rapid progress.soon the big day came when Jane would give her singing performance on the stage.
When the host announced it was Jim's turn, she was wheeled onto the stage. Nervous as she was, she tried to collect herself and stay focused. As she began to sing, the audience were fascinated by her charming voice. Seconds after her performance, all the audience rose with thunderous applause and cheers.Hardly had Jane been wheeled off stage when he was surrounded by her excited classmates and teachers with bunches of flowers in their hands. She was so moved that she said in a trembling voice,“Without your support and encouragement, I wouldn't have made it today. ” With watery eyes, she threw her arms tightly around Mary, words failing her at that very moment. It was Jane’s persistent effort and strong faith that paved the way for realizing her dream.

M: Hello everyone and welcome to the garden seminar. We all know that plants grow well in warm and sunny places, but we aren’t all lucky enough to live somewhere like that. Bill and Sally Jones live in a high, windy area — not ideal for gardening — but they are also champion vegetable growers. How do they do it Well, we all know that vegetables need plenty of water — not just a few drops or a few pints, but gallons of it. It rains a lot where the Jones family live, so they have a good water supply. It’s also very open, so they get enough sunlight. The real enemy is the wind. They tried different ways of protecting the plants — planting trees for shelter and building fences — but what they use now for the more delicate plants are glass houses. With several of these they are able to grow plants which would not normally survive in their location. By adapting to the conditions in which they live, Bill and Sally have developed a winning way with their crops. And their experience can serve as a lesson for other growers who experience similar difficultiesA篇阅读

36.根据文章的标题“How to Live a Fulfilling Life(如何过充实的生活)”以及“What about going to sleep each night with a grin(露齿的笑)of satisfaction on your lips (每天晚上带着满意的笑容入睡怎么样 )”可知,文章介绍的是如何过上充实生活提出相关建议,并提出每天晚上带着满意的笑容入睡;同时根据后文“Here are some tips that may help you.(这里有一些建议可能会对你有所帮助)”可知,设空处应该指出针对于前文提出的目标即过上充实的生活是很难的,由此提出几点建议。G选项“This may seem difficult, but leading a more fulfilling life is entirely possible.(这可能看起来很难,但过上更充实的生活是完全可能的)”符合语境,承上启下。故选G。
37.本题为本段的中心句。根据后文“To lead a more fulfilling life, you first need to know what part of your current life is troubling or unsatisfactory.( 为了过上更充实的生活,你首先需要知道你目前生活的哪些部分令人不安或不满意)”可知,本段强调的是指出自己生活中令人不安或者不满意的地方,然后进行解决。B选项“Addressing your dissatisfaction.(解决你的不满)”概括本段内容,符合语境。故选B。

39.根据后文“You’ll have trouble feeling fulfilled if your energy only goes out. Just as you pour love and support into others, you must return that love and support to yourself. Take time to improve your own self with passions or self-care. (如果你的精力耗尽,你就很难感到满足。就像你把爱和支持倾注给别人一样,你也必须把爱和支持回报给自己。花点时间用激情和自我照顾来提升自己)”可知,你自己也会耗尽精力,让自己感到无法满足。因此,此处建议要给自己留些时间,花点时间用激情和自我照顾来提升自己。C选项“It’s important to set aside “me” time.(留出属于自己的时间是很重要的)”引起下文,提出给自己留些时间的重要性,符合语境。故选C。
40.根据前文的“Fulfillment also translates to perfect mental and physical health, so make time to exercise regularly. Schedule it into your day.(成就感也意味着完美的精神和身体健康,所以要花时间定期锻炼。把它安排到你的一天中)”可知,此处强调要花时间锻炼,把它定期的安排到自己的一天日程中。F选项“That way, it will be just like any other task on your to-do list. 54. D 根据设空后的“In the past, Ibby would have to order through text messages.”可知,此处与之形成对比,过去Ibby点餐非常不便,而现在Payne能够利用手语给Ibby点餐了。故选D。
55. A 根据该句破折号后的“I’m still smiling”可知,此处Ibby强调这家咖啡店给了他真正的快乐。故选A。绝密★考试结束前

J. K. Rowling frequently shows there is magic every day. Her Harry Potter series has helped people through times of stress and depression and she is always there to deliver wise words of encouragement.
She is one celebrity who is very active on Twitter. So when a single dad named Matt Burke sent her a message thanking her for the series, she noticed. Her series had helped strengthen his relationship with his 9 year old daughter Bailey.
He included a link to his article titled Being a Broke Parent. He explained how he hadn’t found a level of financial stability that allowed him to pay bills on time and take his daughter on more activities and events. The family also doesn’t have the Internet or TV, which means there’s no “digital babysitter” and he has to rely on his own creative ways to bond with his daughter. Since he received the series, the main thing that has occupied them these days is reading books together.
Burke admits that he thought he was “too cool” for the books when they first came out and he was in his twenties, but he’s loving reading them now. “We switch off chapter by chapter reading them out loud,“Burke explains.”This not only allows her to get more used to reading aloud in front of someone, but it gets me directly involved in something she loves, and it gives me the chance to be very dramatic when I read my chapters and bring myself into the characters in the book, which has proven to be a ton of fun.”
After hearing Burke’s story, Rowling said how honored she was when Harry Potter was a part of his family’s life and offered Burke more books. Besides, people are also offering to send Burke more books as gifts. For Burke, this experience, far more than gifts, will be what he treasures
24.Why did Burke thank J.K.Rowling according to the text
A.She guided him how to write a good story.
B.She encouraged him when he was in trouble.
C.Her books helped him through times of confusion.
D.Her books helped him improve his bond with his daughter.
25.What is implied in Burke’s words in paragraph 4

Anyone can be late a handful of times, but to be the person who is always late—that's an art, a frustrating art. Or, a side effect of your personality traits(特质), scientists have found.
So what is it that causes some people to constantly miss trains, make it to the wedding just after the bride's shown up and regularly annoy their friends And why is it so hard for us to fix it "There are all sorts of punishments for being late, and the paradox is that we are late even when those punishments and consequences exist." said Justin Kruger, a social psychologist at New York University.
One of the commonest reasons why people are frequently late is that they fail to accurately judge how long a task will take - something known as the planning fallacy(谬误). Research has shown that people on average underestimate the time to complete a task by a significant 40 percent.
Another trait is that forever-late-comers are more likely to be multitaskers. In a 2003 study run by Jeff Conte from San Diego State University found that out of 181 subway operators in New York City, those who preferred multitasking were more often late for their job. This is because multitasking makes it harder to have the awareness of what you're doing. Conte also discovered there is a personality type that's more likely to be late. While highly strung(紧张不安), achievement-oriented Type A individuals are more possible to be punctual. Type B individuals, however, who are more laid-back(漫不经心), have a higher chance to be late.
Admittedly, knowing all of this doesn't necessarily help fix the problem. But scientists are starting to work on strategies that can slowly improve our punctuality. For people who constantly underestimate tasks, breaking down an activity into detailed steps can help people estimate how long something will take more accurately. As for your personality type, unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to change that. But accepting that you need to struggle for it may just help. Acceptance, after all, is the first step to change.

The Archeoplastica project was started by a group of Italian environmental activists who decided to collect and exhibit old plastic products found on beaches and elsewhere in the natural environment to show how plastic may remain complete and polluting for decades.
Since 2018, more than 200 items of plastic waste, dating back 30-50 years, have been exhibited in the Archeoplastica virtual museum, as well as at schools and other public places. These bottles and cans are marked with the dates from different times.
In selecting and displaying old plastic waste, such as a toy whale, the project aims to tell a timeless story about the ‘immortality’ of the plastic objects that have been accumulating (积累) in our seas and on our shorelines for decades. It is hoped that showing the items will improve awareness of the fact that plastic does not biodegrade (进行生物降解) and encourage people to change their behaviour. Plastic waste makes up around 80% of marine pollution, according to UNESCO.
One early report about a doll, still in good condition years after being lost, made people think about the problem of plastic among those who saw it. The impact of the early report about the doll led the team to start collecting more objects and setting aside ‘old’ items dating back 30 to 50 years.
Children, in particular, have responded strongly to the collection, leading to a travelling exhibition around schools. It is hoped the children will convey the message about plastic to their parents and others.
Archeoplastica’s founders believe that displaying these old items can improve awareness of the problem of disposable (一次性的) plastic in the sea and on beaches.

As a single mother, I’ve never doubted my daughter Jane’s dream to be a singer on the stage. At an early age, she was crazy about singing. Whenever she had a chance, she would sing to her heart’s content. Her sweet and charming voice tended to get people around attracted to her songs.
Living in a small city, I took several jobs, determined to do everything in my power to support her. Soon after Jane attended school, her music teacher Mary noticed her talent by chance and volunteered to give her some guidance on how to sing. Jane practiced so hard that before long she made great progress in singing.
Unfortunately, one noon a year later, Jane was crossing the street when a careless driver knocked her down. She was rushed to hospital. When I hurried there, the doctor told me that my daughter would probably not stand on her own feet. I froze with shock, feeling as if I had been thrown into a dark world. Weak and dizzy, I was about to fall to the ground when someone took hold of me.
It was Mary, who got the news and raced here. She comforted me, saying firmly, “Grace, Jane needs you. You must stay calm and strong.” I nodded. Having calmed down, I entered the ward with Mary.
That night, Jane recovered her consciousness (知觉) and opened her eyes. Holding her hand, I said, “My dear, everything would be fine.” Mary comforted her gently, “I know you are a strong girl, Jane. Don’t worry. We’ll be standing by you.” I was heartbroken to see tears streaming down Jane’s cheeks.
One day, however, Mary came with good news. When the host announced it was Jane’s turn, she was wheeled onto the stage.
After two months, we returned home from hospital. Her teachers and friends frequently visited her. Jane eventually accepted the fact that she would have to get around in a wheelchair. Never did she refer to the subject of singing again. I knew she was a nice and understanding girl, who was afraid that talking about her original dream would upset the two of us.高二英语第一次月考词汇加油站(背单)
