A poem by Song poet Du Lei reads: I offer tea, not wine, to a guest on a cold night. When water boils on the stove, fire burns with flame bright. (寒夜客来茶当酒,竹炉汤沸火初红)
Boiling tea is one of the oldest Chinese tea brewing methods (煮沏法), dating back to the Tang Dynasty(618-907). Tea leaves were boiled for a long time and sometimes they were cooked together with different kinds of herbs (草药) and fruits. During this process, people can enjoy a quiet time. Later in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), a faster and more convenient method became more popular. That is steeping (冲泡). ______ On the app Xiaohongshu, or Little Red Book, there are over 40,000 posts on the topic of “stove-boiled” tea (围炉煮茶). It is quickly becoming the latest slow-living lifestyle trend among young Chinese consumers.
They lightly roast (烤) tea leaves before boiling them in a teapot on a charcoal-filled (装满木炭的) stove. People sit around the stove in a natural setting and have snacks with their hot tea. Some also wear traditional hanfu as if it could take them back to those ancient times.
China’s younger generations increasingly appreciate the health benefit and spiritual comfort associated with drinking tea and slow living. Through “stove-boiled” tea, people can taste a slower life and find their inner peace. We had not sat long before another person came in. Some heavy clouds, swept from the sky by a rising wind, had left the moon bright; and her light, coming in through a window near, shone full both on us and on the coming person, Miss Temple.

Huang Xuhua, a great Chinese scientist, passed away on February 6th, 2025. But his great deeds and strong spirit will always stay in our hearts and keep lighting up China’s way forward.
Huang Xuhua was born in Guangdong Province in 1926. When he was young, he saw the hard times of his country under foreign attacks. These sad memories made him study hard. He made a promise to make the country strong with his knowledge.
In the 1950s, when China started to develop nuclear submarines (核潜艇), it was a very difficult job. Huang Xuhua was not afraid and stood up bravely. At that time, there was not much advanced technology or many resources. It was like climbing a very steep mountain. But he and his team took on this challenge To keep the project secret, they stopped contacting the outside world, even their families. Huang Xuhua left his hometown for many years.
During the design process, they met a lot of problems. They couldn’t get help from foreign experts, so they could only depend on their own research. They used simple tools like abacuses (算盘) to calculate and do experiments with great effort. Another important problem was to make sure the submarine was stable underwater. After many tests, they gradually solved these problems.
Finally, in the 1970s, China’s first nuclear submarine was built and tested successfully. This made China one of the few countries that had this ability. Huang Xuhua didn’t stop after this big success. He went on to help with the development of submarine technology. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a smart technology that can do many things like humans and is getting better. Some people worry that AI will take all jobs, but that’s not true.
AI is a computer program that can learn and make decisions by itself. It can play games, drive cars, and talk to you! But AI is here to help, not take the place of humans. It can do some things faster, like doing math or finding information quickly, but it can’t feel emotions. For example, AI can’t make you feel better when you’re sad, but humans can.
Humans are also creative, able to make art, music, and stories, while AI can only help with these things. In the future, AI will get even smarter, but it will always need humans to make sure it helps make our life better.
