Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is a part of life. After all, we can’t win all the time. However, we can learn something 41 from every failure. The following are some pieces of advice.
We must not be afraid of losing. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it. Failure can’t be 42 in our life. Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb. When he was asked how he felt, he said that he hadn’t failed 10,000 times but had learned 10,000 things which didn’t work. We must know that history is full of examples of men and women who finally achieved 43 after they failed many times.
We must 44 our failure and learn to make good use of it. Remember that it can be helpful. Take action to walk out of it. Think about how we can improve it. If someone else can help, we’ll be 45 enough. Maybe he or she has 46 the same experience before. Getting their help can 47 us a lot of time and efforts.
We should face our failure 48 when we lose. There is only one winner in every competition. That is a usual way of life. If we offer our congratulations to the winners and learn something from them, we won’t be sad about our 49 .
In a word, being a good 50 will help us to succeed in life. It might be painful at the beginning, but there are many advantages. Good losers set examples to us, and most importantly, they finally win.

六、阅读理解(满分40分)

The history of foods is never simple. Think of ice cream. Many people see it as a Western dessert. However, this sweet treat actually came from China! In the Zhou Dynasty, Chinese people began to store winter ice to enjoy in summer. In the Song Dynasty, people started to make binglao—it just means “ice cream” in English. It was a lot like modern ice cream. Folk tales have it that Emperor Huizong suffered from stomach pains after eating too much ice. In the Yuan Dynasty, Marco Polo tasted binglao and carried the idea all the way back to Europe. People there added heavy cream and new tastes. The rest is history!
Sometimes, totally different cultures have similar dishes. Iranians love a kind of flat bread, sangak. People in Shanxi, China, love stone pancakes. These two look almost the same! People often compare roujiamo to hamburgers, a symbol of American food. Many people call it the “Chinese hamburger”. But in fact, the arepas of Venezuela (委内瑞拉) look more like the twin brother of roujiamo!

①Before 4th May, China’s National Youth Day This year, great writer Mo Yan wrote a letter to young people. Here is a part of the letter:
②What should we do when having a tough time in life I can’t give you a textbook answer, but I’d like to share two stories of my childhood. They are about A BOOK that brought me knowledge and A MAN that brought me strength.
③The book is Xinhua Dictionary. My family lived a tough life, and I had to drop out of school. Back then, children of my age were at school, learning and playing games together, but I didn’t have that luxury (奢华). The good thing is that I got a copy of the Xinhua Dictionary, and it was all I had. Most of the words I knew didn’t come from school. Instead, I learned them by reading the Xinhua Dictionary, which got me through the tough time and prepared me for my writing career.
④The man is my grandpa. One day, I got caught in bad weather with Grandpa when we were on the way home with a handcart (手推车) of grass. There were thick clouds overhead, the sky was getting dark, and a heavy storm was coming. The wind got stronger and stronger. I was pushed down to the ground and couldn’t move. Grandpa, however, hung on to the handcart. It seemed that he had no plans to run for cover—he decided to fight against the wind. Then in the strong wind, Grandpa’s legs were shaking, but he didn’t move back. Nor did the handcart. Although the grass was long gone at the end of the day, we still had the handcart.
⑤So, my dear young friends, I want you to remember that when you are having a tough time in life, don’t lose heart. Never let life knock you down. Even in the hardest situation, there is hope that encourages us to move forward.

Scientists have discovered the world’s largest known field of seagrass with the aid of some unusual helpers: tiger sharks.
Seagrass usually grows in shallow waters. It grows in thick fields, known as meadows (草地). These seagrass meadows help clean the ocean’s water, and provide shelter for lots of sea life. They are also a big help in the fight against climate change. That’s because they store huge amounts of carbon dioxide (二氧化碳). This harmful pollution is making global warming worse. Damaging these seagrass meadows will only further release (释放) this pollution back into the atmosphere.
Though they’re very important, scientists don’t have a good idea of the size and number of the world’s seagrass meadows. Trying to find these meadows from above the sea waters can be quite difficult. The world’s oceans are so large in size that it’s simply not possible to make a deep study of them by diving. So a team of scientists decided to have tiger sharks help with the research. These animals were chosen as research helpers because they spend a lot of their time in and around seagrass meadows.
Researchers attached cameras to the fins of seven tiger sharks. The sharks then carried the cameras and travelled for miles over the sea floor. The cameras were designed to fall off after a few hours and then float back up to the surface. Tracking signals helped the scientists find the floating cameras and to collect the videos the sharks had taken.
The scientists learned that the waters around the Bahamas are home to the largest seagrass meadow ever discovered, which could be as large as 92,000 square kilometres. The discovery means that the world has about 40 per cent more seagrass meadows than scientists had thought.
The project demonstrates (示范) a powerful new way to explore the ocean. In other words, underwater animals can help us learn more about life under the sea. Animals like tiger sharks are going to take us to new places that we didn’t even know.
70.How many advantages of seagrass meadows are mentioned in the second paragraph
A.Two. B.Three. C.Five. D.Six.
71.What is the third paragraph mainly about
A.The importance of seagrass to the world.
B.The situation that scientists know about seagrass.
C.The possibility that scientists study the meadows further.
D.The reason why scientists need tiger sharks to help with the research.
72.What’s the best title of the article
A.The Seagrass Meadows of the Ocean
B.Research Helpers of the Seagrass
C.The New Way of Protecting the Ocean
D.The Man’s New Helpers of the Ocean

I put down Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But...I kept going over the exciting story in my mind. The book was full of magic. But Charlie’s happy family was the most magical part of the story.
Charlie’s home was a small house at the side of a big town. His family was very poor. His four grandparents stayed in the only bed in the house. The family never had enough food. They always ate watery cabbage soup for dinner. In winter, the freezing wind swept across the floor all night long.
To my surprise, the family were happy. In the evenings, Charlie sat with his grandparents in bed and listened to their stories. Charlie’s parents often joined in. Every night, the room became a happy place. The whole family forgot about their hungry and poor life.
This touched me greatly. In some people’s minds, happiness comes from things like money. But love, in fact, is the key to happiness. Oscar Wilde once said, “Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden...” There are so many reasons to be happy. I think love is the most important one. It can move us, ________ and give us a life full of happiness.

81.Dear Dave,
I’m glad to hear that you will have a study tour here. Way of life here may be different from yours.
Firstly, when meeting people for the first time, just wear a smile and shake hands with them. Secondly, if you are invited to a Chinese family, remember to arrive a bit earlier. And you can bring a small gift for them. Thirdly, Chinese usually use chopsticks when having meals, but don’t point at others with them. And you’d better wait until all the family members are seated. In addition, look to the left before going across roads, because here drivers drive on the right side.
There’s no need to worry about the differences. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
I’m looking forward to seeing you here!
Yours,
Li Hua
