What is learning reflection
Learning reflection is one of learning styles. It involves students thinking about what they have read, done, or learnt, relating the lesson at hand to their own lives and making meaning out of the material.
It's more than just memorizing some facts, formulas or dates. It's necessary for students to revisit what they have learned for improvement and for in-depth learning. It gives students an opportunity to document their learning journey and provide references and suggestions for students.

My Reflection on “Active Learning”
In the past, I did not know much about active learning, let alone that one could become an active learner through conscious efforts. “Active learning” casts a new light on my understanding and I have acquired a lot from it.
Now I’ve learnt that active learners are open-minded and focus on what the speaker is saying, not on what their brain is saying in the background. Moreover, they are always curious and

ask questions if they do not understand. They want to dig out the truth. I believe that in this way they can really learn something. In addition, sometimes people may judge others based on their personal feelings and it may get in the way of learning. Therefore, active learners often focus on the message, not on the messenger.
Getting to know what an active learner does, I plan to

make changes to my learning and adopt some positive ways of thinking. For example, I will try to keep an open mind and listen to what others are saying, as well as be more tolerant of different ideas. What’s more, to get to the truth, I will keep a curious mind and ask questions if necessary. Furthermore, I will not let my personal feelings get in the way. Instead, I will focus on the message itself. I believe I can become an active learner if I put my plans into action!

PRACTICE
阅读下面短文,然后写一篇学习反思。
With more cellphone companies designing models for children, many parents are attracted to buy their kids phones and pay the bill. According to a July 2020 study, 56% of parents of children aged 8 to 12 have given their children a cellphone. According to a recent Youth Beat survey, 12 is the magic number. It is the most common age for kids to get their first cellphone. But 13% of children aged 6 to 10 already have one. That's more than one out of every 10 kids.
PRACTICE
Cellphone supporters, including many parents, note that cellphones help kids keep in touch with their friends and families, whether to ask for a ride home from football practice or to call for help when stuck in an emergency. Besides, some cellphones designed for kids can be controlled with settings that allow the phones to only be used in parent-permission ways. What's the harm in that
PRACTICE
However, other people are worried about the effects of cellphones on kids' health and safety. They believe that sending text messages or fielding phone calls while doing homework makes it difficult for kids to stay focused, thus resulting in their poor school work. They also say that kids are spending too much time texting instead of talking to each other. "Our brains evolved (进化) to communicate face to

face," says Gary Small, a professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, in California. "A lot of this is lost with texting."
And some experts are also concerned about possible health risks. They worry that radiation (辐射) released by cellphones could be harmful to young people. To be safe, they advise limiting talk time.
PRACTICE
From the text I have learned that many parents tend to buy cellphones for their kids. They think phones, with security settings, are a good tool for kids to contact others, especially in an emergency. I also learned that other parents argue being attached to phones may harm both kids' school work and their real communication skills. In addition, some experts, worried about potential health risks, advise the youth to reduce their time on the phones.

PRACTICE
Last year, my father bought me a cellphone as my birthday gift. In class I often surfed the Internet, ignoring the teachers' lessons. I fell behind others. I communicated with my parents less and less, buried in the cellphone. Now, it is really necessary for me to realize the harm of it and spare more time to my studies.
