Traveling has been a crucial (重要的) part of my life and has played a significant role in helping me discover who I am.
My first solo trip was to a small coastal town. As I arrived, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the ocean and the peace of the place. I rented a small bike and cycled along the coastal road. The feeling of the wind on my face and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore made me feel so alive.
During my stay, I met a local artist. She showed me her studio filled with beautiful paintings inspired by the ocean and the town. Talking to her, I realized how much I loved art and how I wanted to explore my creative side. I started taking pictures of the town’s scenery, trying to capture the beauty I saw in my own way.
Another memorable trip was to a mountainous area. The hike was challenging, with steep slopes and rocky paths. There were times when I wanted to give up, but I told myself to keep going. When I finally reached the top and saw the breathtaking view of the mountains stretching out in front of me, I felt a sense of accomplishment like never before. I learned that I was capable of much more than I thought and that perseverance (毅力) was key in achieving my goals.
Traveling has also allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. In a foreign country, I had to communicate with people in a different language, figure out how to use public transportation, and deal with unexpected situations. These experiences made me more confident and independent. I realized that I could adapt to new environments and solve problems on my own.
In conclusion, through traveling, I have discovered my love for art, my inner strength, and my ability to adapt. It has been a journey of self-discovery, and I can’t wait to see where the next trip will take me.

Coral reefs (珊瑚礁) are one of the most astonishing and vital ecosystems on our planet. They are often referred to as the “rain forests of the sea” due to their rich biodiversity and significant ecological importance.
Coral reefs are formed by the accumulation (积累) of calcium carbonate produced by tiny marine organisms (海洋生物) called coral polyps. These polyps work together over long periods of time to create large, complex structures that provide a habitat for a large collection of marine life.
One of the remarkable features of coral reefs is the incredible diversity of species they support. Thousands of different types of fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and other marine creatures call coral reefs home. This diversity is not only a wonder to behold but also plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance of the marine ecosystem.
Reefs also offer important economic benefits. They attract tourists from all over the world, contributing to local economies through activities such as diving, and fishing.
However, coral reefs are currently facing numerous threats. Climate change is a major concern, as rising sea temperatures cause coral bleaching. When water gets too warm, corals expel (排出) the symbiotic algae that gives them their color and provides essential nutrients, often leading to the death of the coral. Pollution, overfishing, and destructive fishing practices also pose significant risks to the health and survival of these delicate ecosystems.
It is our responsibility to take action and protect coral reefs for the benefit of present and future generations Only through our collective efforts can we hope to preserve these magnificent underwater landscapes and the countless species that depend on them.

Imagine the last time you concentrated deeply to solve a challenging problem like a math puzzle or a chess move. Little by little, it seemed that your problem effortlessly resolved itself on the mental blackboard of your mind.
In recent research, my colleagues and I set out to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying these experiences. Specifically, we sought to understand what occurs within the brain when a person engages in abstract and demanding thought.
Previous studies concentrated on brain activity during the brief consideration of problems that take mere seconds to solve. However, our study took a different approach by using more complex math challenges, which are more similar to the tricky puzzles.
We recruited 22 university students to join in math programs. They were asked to solve a series of complex math problems while undergoing functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI 核磁共振) scans which allowed us to observe changes in brain activity as they handled the problems.
We found the brain regions associated with math processing were highly active during the task, particularly in those with extensive math expertise (专业技能). Furthermore, as the students deeper researched into the problems, their brains showed increased connectivity between different regions, indicating a heightened state of concentration.
The findings could potentially aid scientists in gaining a broader understanding of the power of concentration which suggest that developing expertise in a particular field can enhance the brain’s ability to concentrate. This may be due to the fact that the brain filters out (滤除) irrelevant information and focuses on the most critical aspects of a problem. Additionally, their extensive experience may have led to the formation of neural pathways that facilitate more efficient problem-solving.
In conclusion, our study provides valuable insights into the neural mechanisms underlying deep concentration and the role of expertise in enhancing this ability. As we continue to explore these phenomena, we may gain a deeper understanding of the cognitive processes that strengthen human performance.
12. What is the main difference of the recent study from previous ones
A. It focuses on easy problems.
B. It adopts a different strategy.
C. It uses advanced technology.
D. It helps solve math challenges.
13. What is mainly talked about in Paragraph 4
A. The research tool. B. The research basis.
C. The research subject. D. The research process.
14. What do the research findings suggest
A. Higher expertise can make the brain more focused.
B. Extensive experience can facilitate problem-solving.
C. Our brain can tell the critical information from others.
D. With the power of concentration comes higher efficiency.
15. What is the purpose of the research
A. To identify the most effective math learning methods.
B. To promote the use of MRI scans in neuroscience research.
C. To explore the neural mechanisms behind deep concentration.
D. To compare the brain activity of math experts and non-experts.

第二节(满分15分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
About six months ago, I joined a gym. Every morning, there was one personal trainer who worked out. He did his routine with such a quiet determination that he made it all look very easy. When I wanted to quit, I watched him push himself to his own limits, and I found myself motivated to work hard.
Several weeks ago, I was watching him do pull-ups effortlessly. I asked him if I could try a pull-up. I had never tried before. He eagerly stepped aside and encouraged me to step up to the bar. I pulled myself up without thinking. Once... then twice. I had no strength left. I told him that was all I had, so he stepped up behind me and pushed me up for a third and a fourth pull. It felt so good and I smiled from ear to ear.
The next day when I was done with my workout, I asked him to spot me again. Again, I did two. Again on day three and so on. I thought it was pitiful that I could only do two, but he said he was impressed with my pull-ups, explaining that most people couldn’t do them at all. He further told me that if I practiced every day, I would be doing five or six in no time.
I just jumped in and gave it a try. A few months had passed since that memorable day at the gym. I continued to work on my pull-ups, slowly but steadily. With each passing week, I could feel my strength increasing and my determination growing.
One day, as I approached the pull-up bar, my trainer noticed the determination in my eyes. He smiled and said, “You know, you’ve come a long way in such a short time. I believe it’s time to set a new goal for yourself.” I asked, “What do you have in mind ” He replied, “How about aiming for ten consecutive (连续不断的) pull-ups I have no doubt that you can achieve it with your insistence.”
I was both excited and nervous about this new challenge. Ten pull-ups seemed like a significant leap from where I had started, but the belief my trainer had in me fueled my determination. I accepted the challenge and got to work.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为80左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Every morning, I pushed myself harder than before.

【答案】Travel Broadens the Mind
Good morning, dear teachers and fellow students. It’s an honor for me to deliver a speech, whose theme is “Travel broadens the mind.”
As far as I’m concerned, traveling is more than just sightseeing; it is an opportunity to explore new cultures, challenge our perspectives, and grow as individuals, which helps us become more open-minded and adaptable. For instance, during a trip to Xi’an, I visited the Terracotta Warriors and learned about the rich history of ancient China. I also tried local foods and interacted with residents, giving me a deeper appreciation for their traditions. It was this experience that taught me the diverse world is full of wonders waiting to be explored.
In conclusion, not only does travel enrich our knowledge but also it broadens our horizons. Let’s embrace the world and learn from it together!
Thank you for listening!
第二节(满分15分)
【47题答案】
【答案】 Every morning, I pushed myself harder than before. The numbers climbed slowly but steadily: three, four, five and then seven pull-ups. Although it was challenging, I never gave up. With my muscles stronger and stronger, I felt more and more determined. Finally, one morning, I pulled myself up to the bar and completed ten consecutive pull-ups. I achieved it! So excited was I that I couldn’t wait to share the good news with my trainer. “Congratulations!” he said, unable to contain his joy, “You made it a reality!” Hearing this, I felt a profound sense of accomplishment welling up in me. ①It was then that I realized no matter how difficult the obstacle may seem, the belief and insistence/ persistence can help one overcome it./ ②It dawaned on me that the most difficult tasks can be achieved through insistence / consistent efforts and belief in oneself.
