Liu Lingli has been a teacher for hearing-impaired (听力受损的) children for 33 years. Her first communication with hearing-impaired people was with her neighbor, Mrs. Wang. One day when Liu was playing in her house, Wang used sign language (手语) to communicate with her. But Liu couldn’t understand. Wang’s husband told Liu that Mrs. Wang wanted to make her a scarf.
“She was so kind that she touched me, and I thought it would be great if she could speak,” Liu said, “so I decided to become a teacher for hearing-impaired students.”

SEA SWEEPER 1000
Nowadays, the amount of sea rubbish is increasing. And the sea environment is seriously polluted. Traditional methods of cleaning sea rubbish have high costs, and may hurt fish. These problems can be successfully solved by a sea rubbish cleaning robot. It is called Sea Sweeper 1000 and looks like a lantern fish from the outside.
The robot has two “stomachs”, which are used to store, recycle and burn rubbish. The left stomach will be used to burn down rubbish and create energy for the robot to keep running. And the things left after burning will be divided into small parts, and then placed into the bags on the robot’s back rather than thrown into the sea. And the right stomach can store rubbish that can be recycled. When it gets full, rubbish will be placed in the bag on the robot’s tail. Once the bag is full, the robot will come back.
The lantern above its head has a sensor (传感器) and a camera. The sensor is used to avoid taking in fish. But if the robot fish does take in small fish, don’t worry, because the space between its teeth is big enough for them to swim out. And the ★ is used to take photos. These photos will be sent to its user when there is rubbish, which allows the user to make sure if the rubbish needs to be recycled or burned.

It is the night before handing in the report, and Emily Regan still has to research and write the ten-page paper. Emily’s problem is procrastination (拖延症). She has waited to do her work until the very last second and now she is stressed and has to work through the night to complete her paper. Procrastination is a problem for many students, but it does not have to be. Instead of waiting to start your homework until just before the deadline, you can follow these simple steps to avoid procrastination.
First, do a little bit every day rather than all at once. For example, in Emily’s case, she could have spent 30 minutes a day working on that research paper and divided her work into parts. One week could have been spent doing research, one week writing an outline, one week writing the first draft (初稿), and the final week could have been spent finalizing the paper. Then, schedule (安排) that study time into your daily life. Treat your work like any other fun activities you have. Remember, you are the boss and it is up to you to follow your schedule. Be responsible for yourself and do not make any other plans during the time you have set that will prevent you from doing your work.
After you have organized your time in this way, it is important to find a place to work where there are few distractions (干扰). For example, if you are writing a paper, do not go on the Internet to check your e-mail or see who else is online, and do not stay in a room where there is a TV. Instead, focus on the work you planned for that time. Then you can reward (奖励) yourself for your hard work by doing whatever you want—emailing, chatting with friends, or watching television. You will probably enjoy yourself more because you will not have the work hanging over your head and stressing you out.
Although procrastination is a common mistake that many students make, do not put yourself in Emily’s shoes and leave work until the last minute. It is easy to make some simple changes in the way you work to prevent it from happening.

Thanks to a blockbuster movie, many foreigners now know and love a mythical (神话的) Chinese hero! The movie Ne Zha: Demon Child Conquers the Sea (《哪吒之魔童闹海》), also known as Ne Zha 2, has become very popular in China and around the world. By Feb 18, it had made an amazing 12.35 billion yuan at the box office, becoming the world’s highest-grossing (票房最高的) animated film of all time.
The story of the movie comes from Chinese mythology. It follows Ne Zha and his friend Ao Bing, who have special powers. They work together to stop a plan that puts their families and the Dragon Tribe (族) in danger.
People all over the world love the movie’s story and exciting action scenes. Max from Russia said online, “The scene showing the monsters (妖怪) in the sea attacking (袭击) Chen Tang Guan is really amazing.” Rachel from the US told Cover News, “What I learned from the movie is that power is not just about being strong, but also about the will to never give up.”
However, some people from other countries are confused (困惑的) about parts of the movie that connect to Chinese mythology. They ask questions about why Ne Zha’s master rides a pig and what “Heavenly Tribulation (天劫)” means.
Although these questions have led to confusion, some foreigners have called the movie “the Chinese version of Marvel”, seeing Ne Zha as a superhero from a Western way of thinking. Many have started to learn more about Chinese mythology. Ne Zha is like an ambassador (大使) bringing Chinese culture to the world!
34.What is the movie Ne Zha 2 mainly about
35.What do people like the movie about
36.How can foreigners understand the movie better

Have you ever seen Ne Zha 2, a film that stole hearts across the globe Its total box office (票房) has reached over 15 billion since it hit the screen on January 29, 2025.
Ne Zha 2 is more than just a movie—it shows how Chinese animation (动画) has grown. In the 1960s, China created a classical animated film, Havoc in Heaven. This movie was loved worldwide. However, for many years after that, Chinese animations lost their popularity.
Things began to change in 2015 with Monkey King: Hero Is Back. This film earned 956 million yuan at the box office. It inspired filmmakers to create more high-quality works like White Snake, Big Fish & Begonia, and Jiang Ziya. These films put traditional Chinese stories together with modern technology, winning fans both at home and abroad.
Ne Zha 2 retells a classic story in a fresh way. The story follows Ne Zha, a young hero who must choose between being a “fairy” or a “demon”. The movie includes powerful lines like, “If there’s no path ahead, I’ll make one myself!” This message about fighting against fate deeply resonates (共鸣) with young viewers. It’s believed that Ne Zha 2’s success comes from its high production quality, exciting storyline, well-designed characters, surprising visuals (视觉) and so on.
Making Ne Zha 2 was a team effort. Over 130 companies worked together on the film, which shows the strength of China’s growing animation industry. However, challenges still exist. Most animated films in China face problems like limited budgets (预算) and technical difficulties. China has a rich history and countless traditional stories that can inspire animations. The success of Ne Zha 2 sets high standards for future films. Audiences now expect even better quality.
38.When did the movie Ne Zha 2 come out
39.Why did the Chinese animations like White Snake become popular around the world
40.What challenges do Chinese animated films face
41.What do you think of the future of Chinese animation Why (Give 2 reasons.)

Facial-recognition cameras (面部识别摄像头) are everywhere even in your smartphone. Many people use this technology to unlock their phones, open doors or make quick payments. But there is a problem: someone wears masks. What a headache!
Scientists are trying to solve this problem, For example, Engineering and Technology (E&T) magazine reports that Hanwang, a tech company in Beijing, has made a new system. It can recognize 95% of people when they wear masks.
What’s the secret It’s all about your eyes. Marios Savvides from Carnegie Mellon University studies facial-recognition. As we get older, he says, our faces change shape. But the area around our eyes doesn’t. It stays the same even if we put on weight. As long as there are enough data from the area of our eyes, the cameras can recognize us.
Tech5 is another facial-recognition company. The Swiss company’s products scan the shape of your face. They also scan your iris (虹膜), which is the colored part of your eyes. Tech5 hopes to ignore all of the face below the nose. This kind of software is more important than just unlocking your phone. “It can discover criminals, even when they wear masks.” said Wang Li from Hanwang. Hanwang’s technology is used by Chinese police in places like subway stations and airports. Similar technology is used by the United States Air Force.
Wang pointed out one big weakness: it fails when people wear both a mask and sunglasses. In this situation, all of the key facial information is lost.
