应用文【答案】Dear Michael,
I hope this email finds you well. Last week, I had the exciting opportunity to explore our school’s newly opened smart library. I just can’t wait to share my experience with you.
Upon entering the smart library, I was impressed by the cozy atmosphere with intelligent lighting and its advanced digital tools like tablets, AI-powered book recommendation systems and smart book checkout systems. The AI-powered book recommendation systems were fascinating, giving me access to my desired resources instantly via tablets. Then there was a virtual reality corner where I experienced immersive reading. I also tried the smart book checkout systems, which made the borrowing process quick and easy.
My experience was incredibly refreshing. The cutting-edge technology allowed personalized access to library services, thus making studying more engaging and efficient. I expect to see how this smart library will continue to evolve and benefit our school community. How about libraries in your area
Yours,
Li Hua
续写【答案】参考范文:
The next day, I arrived at the pool grounds early. People were already starting to arrive, their faces filled with anticipation. The atmosphere was electric with excitement. The lemonade stand was bustling, with people lining up to taste our “Fun in the Sun” special. Tamara’s starfish cookies were a huge hit, disappearing almost as quickly as they were put out. Unluckily, clouds started to gather. Before we knew it, the rain was pouring down, making it difficult for everyone to seek shelter near the pool.
Facing the sudden rain, we were relieved that we had prepared the big umbrellas. Quickly, we set them up over the karaoke machine, lemonade stand, and bake sale tables. Despite the weather, people didn’t seem to mind. They huddled under the umbrellas, continuing to enjoy the activities and support our cause. By the end of the day, we had made more money than we had ever imagined, and everyone left with a smile on their face. It was a reminder that with preparation, creativity, and a positive attitude, even the worst-case scenarios can turn into unforgettable successes.

In a rough inner-city area in the eastern U. S., a small place was a lawless jungle. Broken glass, rubbish, and mindless drawings turned the space into a “no-go” zone for most of the residents. But one day, a small group of people living nearby decided that was enough. Seeking a resolution, they planned a project to turn the area into a community space, a space of healing, hope, and growth, not destruction and despair.
Moving in, the group realized that those who were using the space inappropriately early on must have a say. Then the group arranged a meeting, but no one came. Thinking outside the box, they started with one simple idea, building a white wall where anyone could leave their thoughts about the future of the site.
Not all of the suggestions were useful. But slowly, the group itself and others using the site began to see some progress. Those who would not usually have a voice in such discussions began to weigh in. They wrote things like “a place to meet up”, “a creative space” and so on. Someone else said, “Clean up first.”
The group began to clear the site, reusing materials that could be saved and removing the rest. One day, a couple of young men showed up and just started helping. Some other people passing by also took an interest and joined in. There were concerns that this would not last long, but over the weeks it remained. And, remarkably, someone even added a small side table. Colorful artwork was created.
The group added four small raised beds, planting crops in one of them. Gradually, as the greenery flourished, so did the bonds between the group and nearby residents. People who had never gardened before slowly got involved. The once-neglected corner blossomed into a bustling hub, a testament to the transformative power of collective hope and action.

On the website of the EU Prize for Women Innovators, there are dozens of inspiring stories of female leaders alongside pictures of these professional-looking women wearing single color business suits. But when we move the page down a little further, Ailbhe and Izzy’s pictures pop off the page, with their eye-catching colors and bright rainbow patterns, which is entirely in line with their company belief “If you can’t stand up, stand out.” The fashionable sisters took the world by storm with their personalized wheelchair decorations.
Ailbhe, now 25, was four years old when she became a big sister to Izzy. Although Izzy was born disabled and couldn’t move from the waist down, her courage and energy deeply impressed Ailbhe and the two sisters developed a lifelong friendship. They spent hours as children decorating Izzy’s wheelchairs and her other mobility devices. So when Ailbhe graduated from the National College of Art and had to complete a final year project, she knew what to choose-dress up a wheelchair’s wheels! Ailbhe said, “The wheelchair itself didn’t show Izzy’s attitudes to life, or her energetic personality. It was ugly and made you lose confidence. I thought there might be a way of bridging that gap.”
Ailbhe’s project was extremely well received at her school’s design show. Izzy loved the new wheels as well. A state organization helped the sisters work with fashion designers and get their business to take off. The next step for the sisters was partnering with big companies which were interested in representing people with disabilities. They turned to Disney. After all, this cooperation would involve one of their favorite activities-watching Disney movies! Besides, Disney was willing to donate 10% of profits to a charity that helps disabled children. In addition, the company promised to realize the dreams of children with disabilities.
The sisters are excited for their creativity to make life in a wheelchair more fashionable, fun and personalized.

Over the recent months, many news agencies have been reporting a trend involving Generation Alpha, aged 1 to 14. According to a report from NielsenIQ, a global marketing research firm, US households with 6-to 12-year-old children spent 27 percent more on skincare last year than they did the year before. What’s more, they’ve been buying beauty products specially developed for older customers.
Some people believe such fascination among Gen Alpha is merely a passing trend. However, experts think it is physical appearance anxiety that may be driving Gen Alpha to invest so much time, money, and effort into looking good.
Physical appearance anxiety is a form of worry about perceived physical imperfections. Factors such as low self-worth or fear of being rejected can make people more likely to experience appearance anxiety. Generation Alpha has a high risk of having physical appearance anxiety as they spend hours consuming content on apps like TikTok. Digital platforms like this can expose kids to influencers with “perfect” faces and bodies. This false version of reality leads them to have negative feelings about their own appearance.
Appearance anxiety isn’t limited to one’s physical features. Gen Alpha kids may also feel anxious if they’re wearing the “wrong” clothes or carrying an unfashionable schoolbag. Feeling unable to fit in with the cool crowd can make kids more withdrawn (内向的). Appearance anxiety can make kids lose their self-confidence, so they tend to avoid people or even stop interacting with others altogether.
Some parents think that taking their Gen Alpha children to buy the best clothes or make-up may help relieve their kids’ anxiety over their appearance. But keep in mind that the feeling of satisfaction that they’d get from this is short-term. Instead of emptying your wallet, help your child to develop a sense of self-compassion. Learning how to treat themselves with love, acceptance, and understanding can have a positive and lasting effect on mental health, which may help to reduce appearance anxiety.
32.What does the report from NielsenIQ say about Generation Alpha
A.They have great buying power. B.They reduce skincare spending.
C.They use make-up to look mature. D.They care much about their looks.
33.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A.The popularity of apps like TikTok.
B.The negative impacts of social media.
C.The rise of digital content consumption.
D.The possible causes of appearance anxiety.
34.What does Gen Alpha kids’ appearance anxiety result in
A.Poor academic performance. B.Worse physical appearance.
C.Withdrawal from social life. D.Loss of many online friends.
35.What should children do to overcome appearance anxiety
A.Buy beauty products. B.Appreciate self-worth.
C.Focus on their studies. D.Expand their social circle.

The latest assessments of the health effects of coffee and caffeine (咖啡因), its main active ingredient, are comforting indeed. 36 They include Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, depression and all sorts of cancers.
37 They showed consuming four or five eight-ounce cups of coffee a day has been associated with reduced death rates. In a study of more than 200,000 participants followed for up to 30 years, those who drank three to five cups of coffee a day, with or without caffeine, were 15 percent less likely to die early from all causes than the people who avoided coffee. Perhaps most dramatic was a 50 percent reduction in the risk of suicide among both men and women who were moderate coffee drinkers, perhaps by boosting production of brain chemicals. 38
A report was published last summer by a research team at the Harvard Hool of Public Health. It concluded that although current evidence may not guarantee recommending coffee or caffeine to prevent disease, for most people drinking coffee in moderation “can be part of a healthy lifestyle.” 39 In the past, there were occasional warnings about coffee being a health risk. Over the years, coffee’s been considered a cause of conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and premature death.
Actually, these concerns may have been unfounded and exaggerated. 40 However, despite various concerns that have turned up over the years, coffee is remarkably safe and has a number of important potential benefits.
A.It is considered as a health risk.
B.However, it wasn’t always this way.

D.They have given the public a very abnormal view.
E.Therefore, more research is needed to confirm these findings.

Our swim team always relied on the Snack Bar to raise money for meets and equipment, but Coach Abby had bad news: it would be closed for repairs through August, meaning no money for upcoming events. Everyone was worried. “Does this mean our swim team is canceled ” Noah asked. Coach Abby comforted us, saying we’d still practice, but she wasn’t sure how the meets would be funded.
The next morning, practice felt strange. None of us were swimming our best, and even Coach Abby was worried. During a break, Noah suggested, “If we can’t run the Snack Bar, maybe we can think of other ways to raise money. ”
“Good idea. ” said Ruby. She suggested a karaoke sing-along (卡拉 OK) like what her brother did to raise funds for his school singing club. Tamara recommended a bake sale. “A.fall festival would be fun!” I added, thinking we could have water-themed games on grounds by the swimming pool.
At first, Coach Abby hesitated. But when she saw how excited we were, she agreed, “OK! Let’ s go for it!” We quickly began brainstorming ideas for our Support for Pool Party.
“I’ll bring my karaoke machine. ” Ruby offered. “We could make the microphone look like a fish!” someone added. I suggested a “Fun in the Sun” lemonade stand, and everyone jumped in to help. Soon, we had a plan for the best fundraiser ever, complete with a starfish cookie bake sale. We were ready to make it happen! We spent so much time getting everything ready and talking up our fundraiser to everyone we met that we were positive it would be a great success.
The day before our big event, I was squeezing lemons for lemonade when I saw a very dark cloud outside the kitchen window. “Uh-oh! That’s not a rain cloud, is it ” I asked my mom. “Rain would be a disaster! It could ruin everything. ” “You know what they say, ” she answered. “Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. ” “Hmm, ” I said.
