You are allowed to bring your pets to Yellowstone National Park. There are specific rules that pet owners must be aware of for the protection and safety of their pets, themselves and wildlife. These rules have been developed over the years from experiences with pets, wildlife and accidents in the park.
Yellowstone National Park is a natural area where wildlife is free to wander undisturbed. Park visitors should be able to enjoy native wildlife in their natural environment without the disruption (干扰) of other people’s pets. For this reason, pets are banned in the backcountry and on trails and boardwalks or thermal areas (温泉区).
Some additional reasons why pets are prohibited in the backcountry and on trails and boardwalks:
* Pets occasionally escape from their owners. Pet animals generally lack the ability to survive in the wild.
* There is a strong possibility that your pet could become prey for a bear, coyote, owl or other predators.
* There is a possibility of exchange of diseases between pet animals and wildlife.
Pets may accompany you in the front country areas of the park. This includes any area within 100 feet/30.5meters of roads, parking areas and campgrounds. Pets must be kept under physical control at all times — caged, crated or on a leash not to exceed six feet in length.
There is no kennel facility within Yellowstone National Park.
Remember: Pets leave traces other than footprints. The owner is responsible for cleanup and disposal of all pet body wastes. Please be thoughtful of other visitors as well as your pet.
21. What can park visitors do in Yellowstone National Park
A. Get away from pet animals and wildlife.
B. Protect themselves from other visitors’ pets and wildlife.
C. Keep physical control of any pet disturbing their visit in the park.
D. Enjoy native wildlife in their natural environment without disruption.
22. Where are pets permitted to go within Yellowstone National Park according to the passage
A. In the backcountry. B. On trails and boardwalks.
C. In some front country areas. D. In the natural habitats of the wildlife.
23. How many reasons are mentioned to explain why pets are banned in some areas
A. 2. B. 3. C. 4. D. 5.

Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a landscape view of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees, I paused to catch my breath and then positioned myself to take the best photo of this landscape.
Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view. Like me, this woman was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the view.
Patient as I was, after about 15 minutes, my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would eventually take, I grew frustrated. Was it too much to ask her to move so I could take just one picture of the landscape Sure, I could have asked her, but something prevented me from doing so. She seemed so content in her observation. I didn’t want to mess with that.
Another 15 minutes passed and I grew bored. The woman was still there. I decided to take the photo anyway. And now when I look at it, I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.
This photo, with the unique beauty that unfolded before me and that woman who “ruined” it, now hangs on a wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured (捕捉) and frozen on some stranger’s bedroom wall A bedroom, after all, is a very private space, in which some woman I don’t even know has been immortalized (使……永存). In some ways, she lives in my house.
Perhaps we all live in each other’s spaces. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.
That photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.
24.What happened when the author was about to take a photo
A. Her camera stopped working. B. A woman blocked her view.
C. Someone asked her to leave. D. A friend approached from behind.
25.According to the author, the woman was probably ___________.
A. enjoying herself B. losing her patience
C. waiting for the sunset D. thinking about her past
26.The photo on the bedroom wall enables the author to better understand ____________.
A. the need to be close to nature B. the importance of private space
C. the joy of the vacation in Italy D. the shared passion for beauty
27.The passage can be seen as the author’s reflections upon ___________.
A. a particular life experience B. the pleasure of traveling
C. the art of photography D. a lost friendship

Adaptation and innovation (创新) of traditional opera is an important trend in Chinese opera circle in recent years. In order to attract young audience of new generation and catch up with the time, traditional opera circle makes efforts to create new works. In recent years, traditional opera has come across the change of time and society. It gradually lost the main elderly audience and was not attractive for the young.
In order to find new opportunities, using modern sound, light and digital stage effects, China’s traditional Peking Opera, also known as jingju, is appealing to young people in a fashionable and innovative way, as the classic art faces an aging audience.
The centuries-old Tianleyuan Theater in Beijing has introduced fashionable performances of Peking Opera. The opera combines instrumental music, vocal performance, mime (哑剧表演), dance and acrobatics (杂技).
Tianleyuan has a jingju art experience section and fashionable performances. It has attracted more than 2,000 audience members, mostly young people, according to theater staff.
“Good art should keep pace with the times, so does jingju,” said Zhang Zishang, a 22-year-old performer of The Drunken Beauty, one of the classic jingju plays performed in the theater. “I feel today’s performance is very special,” Zhang added. She was born into a family of jingju performers and has had 10 years of stage experience. “Innovation is good, but we must also carry on the basic elements of jingju,” another young performer Deng said.
According to Deng, innovation is perhaps the best way for jingju to deal with the problem of an aging audience. It has made successful attempts to combine jingju with local opera forms such as ballet when organizing performances abroad. “Innovation can help traditional arts go further. We are happy to see many young faces, and some of them even come twice to experience the ‘new’ art,” she added.
28.Why is adaptation and innovation of traditional opera important

C. To improve digital stage effect. D. To change the traditional opera circle.
29.Which of the following can best describe Tianleyuan Theater
A. A pioneer of innovative opera. B. An objector of modern opera.
C. A destroyer of Peking Opera. D.A defender of traditional opera.
30.How does Deng feel about the innovation of jingju
A. Worthless. B. Impractical. C. Favorable. D. Conservative.
31.Which one can be a suitable title for the text
A. The Traditional Opera Is Dying Out
B. The Future of the Traditional Opera Is Promising
C. The Performers of the Traditional Opera Are Supporting Jingju

When Diane Gayeski, a professor at Ithaca College, receives an essay from one of her students, she runs part of it through a computer program. It is an AI tool to suggest how to improve the work. She shows her students the results and how the tool rewrote their essay. She also asks her students to do the same: run their draft through the program to see where they can make improvements.
AI is reshaping education. Both teachers and students are using the new technology. It’s reported that half of college students used AI tools in Fall, 2023. At the same time, while fewer teachers used AI, the percentage grew to 22% in the fall of 2023. It is up from 9% in spring 2023.
But while some schools have formed policies on how students can or can’t use AI for schoolwork, many do not have guidelines for teachers. The practice of using AI by teachers also raises moral problems. And parents and students who are already spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on college are wondering if it is worth the time and money.
AI would allow teachers to grade papers more effectively and consistently. It can process and grade papers much faster than a human, allowing for quicker feedback(反馈) and avoiding human emotions. But Leidner, a professor at the University of Virginia noted when it came to smaller classes or assignments with less definitive answers, grading should be done by teachers to get to know more about a student’s work. She also said it would not be right to upload the material into the AI. The students need to be aware of this in advance.
Some schools are actively working on policies for both teachers and students. Nicolas Frank, a professor of philosophy at University of Lynchburg worries it’s too early. He is also concerned that some school leaders may oversimplify the problems with AI use.
Leidner, meanwhile, said universities must also be open to “regularly checking and reconsidering as the technology and uses develop.”
32. What do the numbers in the second paragraph indicate
A. AI is developing fast in colleges.
B. AI is overused by college students and teachers.
C. AI has been misused by more and more college students and teachers.
D. AI has caused many problems between college students and teachers.
33.What potential problem has AI used in college brought
A. Economic crisis. B. Moral concerns.
C. Emotional problems. D. Interpersonal problems.
34. What does the underlined word “consistently” in the fourth paragraph mean
A. Reliably. B. Economically. C. Creatively. D. Subjectively.
35. Which of the following may Leidner agree
A. University leaders should simplify the problems with AI use.
B. Universities should work out policies for AI use immediately.
C. Universities should encourage students and teachers to use AI.
D. Universities should evaluate AI use at regular times as it advances.

How to stay healthy on holiday
Taking time to relax on holiday may be good for our health. 36 Here’s how to stay healthy when you travel.
Plan before you go.
Besides the stress of organizing your break in the first place, there’s the added anxiety of remembering to buy and pack everything you need, as well as getting where you need to go on time. To avoid this, as soon as you’ve booked your holiday, list the travel documents you’ll need. Check you have them and they’re valid (有效的). Then start packing several weeks in advance, giving yourself time to buy some daily necessities. 37
38
Try to forget the cares of everyday life. You can achieve this by ensuring you don’t check emails or social media, or feel necessary to use it to record your best holiday moments. Ideally, turn off notices, limit your screen time and try to focus on the present moment. That will enable you to relax and make special memories.
Eat and drink well and mindfully.
39 Take time to really enjoy all the flavors. However, you should be aware that too many alcoholic drinks can cause “holiday heart”, characterized by an irregular rhythm. What’s worse, if you’re holidaying in a hot climate, that can also result in dehydration (脱水).
Get active.
Try a new activity. Consider walking and swimming or tennis. 40 Remember that being active not only helps you stay fit during the holiday, but also makes you feel fitter and more refreshed once you’re back.
A. Ignore all the barriers in life.
B. Get rid of the digital addiction.
C. But there’s a physical reason for this.
D. However, too much relaxation also has opposite effects.
E. Part of the fun of going away is experiencing the cuisine of other places.
F. On departure day, leave more time than you need to get to an airport or port.
G. If you’re somewhere hot, it’s best to work out in the early morning or evening.

Nowadays, it is becoming common to lead a low-carbon lifestyle. We know that carbon dioxide is the major greenhouse gas that causes global warming. By living a low-carbon life, we can cut down carbon dioxide emissions, which may contribute to stopping the temperature from rising.
There are many ways of leading an environmentally friendly life. For instance, we can turn off electrical appliances like lights, the television and the computer when we aren’t using them. What’s more, cars not only cause serious air pollution but also waste energy, so we could ride a bicycle or take public transportation. In addition, it’s wise to use reusable cloth bags and not disposable plastic bags when we shop.
I believe that as long as each of us makes a small change to cut down carbon emissions, we can make a big difference and develop a harmonious relationship with the environment.
