When you want to ask your teacher a question during class, what do you do Do you simply shout out your question as soon as it enters your mind Or do you raise your hand and wait until the teacher calls your name
If you politely raise your hand first, it’s probably because your teacher requires what you are allowed to do when you have a question. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone can talk whenever they want during class Instead of a peaceful learning environment, a class without rules would be chaotic (混乱的)!
When you learn to drive, you will realize how many rules you have to follow. The rules for driving share a common purpose with many rules you must follow in your daily life to keep your safe. As an ancient Chinese saying goes, “No rules, no standards.” If you make a list of the rules you follow each day, you will quickly realize how many of them can keep you safe and make your life more enjoyable as a result.
Although sometimes you feel like a rule is unfair, don’t break it. Instead, decide what you can do to change the rule. Working within the rules to change the rules is what you need to do.

“I don’t like my parents. They always tell me I should do this, and should not do that. It sometimes makes me angry,” said Zhang Hua, a middle school student in Guangzhou. Do you have the same problem Perhaps your parents had the same problem when they were at your age long ago. Why does it seem that some parents are not so friendly in their children’s eyes
One of the biggest problems is when someone becomes a parent, he or she likes worrying about things.
They worry about everything about you from the time you were born. They do a lot for you, though something would make you angry, because they care about you and worry about you. They worry about your choice of friends, the food you eat, your work at school, how much sleep you get...All these things are parts of your life. They want you to grow up healthily and happily.
So how can you make things easier on yourself It’s easier than you think. Just make sure your parents know what you’re doing. Get them to know your friends. Phone them if you stay somewhere else late so that your parents don’t call every hospital in the phone book looking for you. Say sorry to them when you make mistakes. Take responsibility (责任) for what you have done. Talk about your ideas with them. They may talk about theirs with you.
Most of all, try to think about why your parents do this or do that. They are still practicing being parents and they need help from you. Someday, when you become a parent, they may be able to help you how to get on with your children.
( )8. What is one of the biggest problems for parents
A. To worry about themselves. B. To worry about their children.
C. To do everything for their children.
D. To make every decision for their children.
( )9. The writer thinks we should _______ if we go back home later than usual.
A. make a telephone call to our parents
B. make sure our parents know what we’re doing
C. say sorry to our parents D. tell the teacher
( )10. Which of the following may the writer agree on
A. It’s wrong for parents to worry about their children too much.
B. Parents love their children very much and children should understand
them.
C. Children should do everything as their parents say.
D. Parents are always not so friendly in their children’s eyes.
( )11. What is the best title for the passage
A. Parents’ Responsibility B. How to Get On with Parents
C. Zhang Hua’s Problem D. What Parents Worry about
D
With the turning of the handle, wooden figures (人物) can come alive and tell amazing stories. Yu Chenrui makes these figures, which are called automata.
Automata are built to look like humans or animals and the word comes from automata, meaning “moves on its own” in Greek.
Yu fell in love with automata when he studied at university in Beijing. He first knew automata made by Kazuaki Harada from Japan at a show, and he felt like meeting a like-minded friend. His automation creation Search for Self is based on the ducks. “Humans change as time goes by and searching for oneself is a lifelong journey,” Yu explained.

第三部分 书面表达(共两节,满分30 分)
第一节 阅读表达(共5 小题;每小题2 分,满分10 分)
阅读下面短文,完成短文后的问题。
Do you put up your hand when you want to speak in class If so, you have followed a rule. Rules can be as simple as putting up your hand. They can also be as complicated (复杂的) as knowing when you are “out” in a game.
Rules can be made by anyone. Parents make rules to help children grow up healthily. Rules at home might include washing dishes or cleaning rooms.
Teachers make rules to help students learn and stay safe. Putting up your hand before asking a question helps the class pay attention to the lesson. Students make rules in games to make sure that they can play without fighting. Rules can be changed often. If you change your minds, you can change the rules.
Laws are rules too, but they are made differently. Laws are made by representatives (代表). Voters (选民) allow their representatives to make laws that can protect people’s rights, safety and make sure everyone can be treated fairly (公平地). Laws cannot be changed often, so representatives consider laws carefully before making new ones.
The biggest difference between rules and laws is the punishment for breaking them. If you break a rule, your punishment might be small, like losing a turn in a game. However, if a person breaks an important law, the punishment might be a time in prison.
Rules and laws keep everyone safe. People can work and live together in peace by following rules and laws.
41. Who can make rules

42. Why do representatives consider laws carefully before making new ones

Should I Be Allowed to Join the School Basketball Team
Recently, I’ve had a discussion with my parents about whether I should be allowed to join the school basketball team or not.
They think I have reduced my study time. They don’t think I am strong enough to be a good basketball player. They think I might easily get injured while playing. And they hope I can spend more time on my studies.
However, I don’t agree with them. Though I know they care about me, becoming a member of the school basketball team is my dream. I’ll try my best to balance my studies and sports. More importantly, I can learn how to work with others in a team.
