Dear Sam,
I was glad to receive your e-mail.The relationship between parents and children in China is different from that in America. In China, parents are not used to saying “I love you” to their children. But in America, parents often express their love to their children with honey words. Also,in China, children are not allowed to call their parents by their names. It’s not polite. But in America,it’s OK to do this in many families. In China, parents always look after their children until they think the children are old enough to live by themselves. But in America, parents often encourage their children to do things for themselves to prepare them for the adult life. But whether in China or America,I think parents should not only teach children to do things themselves but also make them feel loved.Do you agree with me

When you feel a sneeze(喷嚏) or a cough coming on,covering your mouth prevents the spread of germs(细菌).You probably knew that.
But how to cover your mouth is very important. You might use tissues(纸巾),and put your used tissues into the bin.“If you don’t have tissues, you should sneeze into your elbow, not your hand, even if you are used to doing that,”the doctors advised.
“If somebody sneezes into his hands, those germs will be passed on to other people,or other objects that people touch,”said Dr.Hill.
Germs are most commonly spread by sneezing and coughing. When they land on your hands, they are passed from hands to things like bills, door knobs(扶手),lift buttons and other surfaces. At the same time, the people around you can touch them.
“The suggestion was taken seriously about 10 years ago. However, most people didn’t pay much attention to it.That means the adults may have missed the advice. But children are often taught in school the right way to cough or sneeze,”Dr.Benjamin said.
To be clear, people can’t keep away from all the risks in this way,but it’s the best choice. At the same time,we’d better wear masks(口罩) and often wash our hands.“Hand washing is one of the most important things people can do to keep healthy,”Dr.Hill said.

Nowadays, more and more children seem to get lost in a “sea of digital(数字) technology”.As they use digital technology too much, they are losing their ability to do simple things. They can’t make toys themselves with hands or help Mum cook dinner. And worst of all, they seem to be losing interest in communicating with others.
“I have talked with a number of teachers. They care about the increasing numbers of young pupils who can play with computers or smart phones, but have few or no skills to make things,” said a teacher,Colin Kinney.“Many pupils can’t communicate with other pupils but their parents talk proudly of their ability to use a computer or a smart phone.”
Instead of playing with other children, more and more children are choosing to stay indoors and quietly play on a tablet (平板电脑)on weekends and after school. How can a child grow up to be a very good artist if he doesn’t learn how to use a paintbrush(画笔) and develop his painting skill How can a child learn to make friends as he gets older if he doesn’t learn to communicate with others at a young age
Digital technology can be used for good or bad.We can use a stone to either break a window or build a house. We shouldn’t blame the children. We should help them make right choices. It is certainly necessary for children to know how to use digital technology in today’s world, but what is more important,we should encourage them to develop social abilities which will do them good when they grow up.
( C )36.What’s the worst problem that is mentioned in the first paragraph

When you hear the word “farm”,you can’t help thinking of hills in the country covered with cows and corn stalks(谷类的秆).But some scientists, engineers and city planners say the farms of the future could rise straight into the air—in skyscrapers in cities.
It might sound far-fetched,but in fact, some of the technology for growing crops indoors already exists. The scientists stationed at the South Pole research station enjoy fresh salads every day from vegetables they grow in their own greenhouse. And scientists have been experimenting for years with methods for growing fresh fruits and vegetables on the moon or even on Mars.
Farming indoors solves many problems.Firstly, traditional farming takes up a lot of land.Secondly, cities that grow their own food also would become more self-reliant(自力更生的),and you can control everything indoors. You can’t control anything outdoors.
By the year 2050,the world population will grow by another 3 billion.Where will we grow the food for all these people The answer is “vertical(立体的) farming”—growing crops in skyscrapers tens of stories high.

七、阅读表达(共5小题,计10分)
阅读下面短文,根据要求完成下面各小题。
In a classroom in any countries, the teacher teaches more than art or history or language. He or she teaches something behind the culture of the country. There are different educational ideas in different cultures.
In a country such as the United States, people with different history, culture and language join together and they pay much attention to personal ideas.Teachers try to make each student special. Students don’t have to remember a lot of information, instead, they try their best to find answers by themselves. There is often discussion in the classroom. At an early age, students learn to have their own ideas.Their education encourages personal thoughts.
In most Asian countries, most people have the same language, history and culture. For this reason, the education there pays more attention to group goals (目标) than personal ideas.Children in China and Japan often work together and help each other on homework. In the classroom, the ways of teaching are often very traditional. The teacher says, and the students listen. There is not much discussion.Instead, the students repeat rules or information that they have been taught in order to keep them in mind.
In many ways, these differences come from educational ideas. In Western countries teachers are taught to help students to learn. They make it easier for the students to learn by themselves. In some Asian countries, however, teachers often feel that their job is to pass knowledge to students.
