I remember that it was a fall morning when the orchestra (管弦乐队) teachers came into Miss Newell’s third-grade classroom. “You have hands for the viola (中提琴),” Miss Ciano told me. I was excited because my hands were finally good for something. I told my parents I wanted to play, and naturally, they agreed.
Since I first touched the viola, I haven’t been able to put it down. Ignoring the difficulty, I am pulled closer to it each day.
Classical music is truly my best friend. It is the trusted friend of every man, woman and child. Various feelings are expressed in classical music. I discovered that when I was eleven and played a cello concerto (大提琴协奏曲) of Bach in a competition, the first movement was joyful, but the second movement was mysterious and full of pain. From the piece, I learned that music expresses not only feelings, but also sudden mood changes. By listening to classical music, I know that someone else shares these feelings. Since I am lucky enough to be able to play classical music, I am comforted by it when I am upset. It gives me a way to escape from my problems for a short period. Classical music can express my joy, sadness and anger.
Now look back at that fall day in the third grade and think how gullible I was for believing that anyone, even music teachers, could tell whether hands were perfect for a certain instrument. I’m certain they told me I had “viola hands” not because they were fortune-tellers, but because there was a lack of violists in our district. Classical music is one of the best things that ever happened to mankind. If you get introduced to it in the right way, it will become your friend for life.
4.What’s the main cause of the author’s interest in playing the viola
A.Interesting musical classes. B.Beautiful viola sound.
C.Teachers’ proper guidance. D.Parents’ strong support.
5.According to the passage, in what way does classical music help the author
A.By developing social skills. B.By giving emotional comfort.
C.By broadening life experience. D.By building close relationship.
6.What does the underlined word “gullible” mean in the last paragraph
A.Easily tricked. B.Firmly loved. C.Greatly challenged. D.Secretly hidden.
7.Which could be the best title for the passage
A.Special Event, Sweet Memory. B.Classical Music, Endless Friendship.
C.Lifetime Dream, Great effort. D.Happy Childhood, Unforgotten Experience.
When you think of a typical American, who do you picture A pretty blond white American like Taylor Swift or a handsome black American like basketball star Michael Jordan In fact, there was a time when the average American looked like neither of these people.
Back in the year 1500, the average American was a brown-skinned hunter-gatherer who probably rode a horse and wore clothing made from animal skins. Today, the ancestors of these people are broadly referred to as “Native Americans”, “American Indians” or simply “Indians”.
When the European settlement of North America began, there was intense conflict between settlers from overseas and these native people. In 1830, former US president Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act. This act required all Indians to migrate to west of the Mississippi River to allow for the expansion of the US. American Indians were treated as a military “enemy” until 1924, when the few Indians still alive at that point were granted US citizenship. That was the first time that the US government formally recognized the rights of Indians.
While the story of the American Indians has been a sad one, their legacy is still felt every day in the US. Many US geographical names come from Indian languages, such as Ohio, Topeka, Kansas and the Potomac River. At the same time, there are many successful academics and other important US leaders who are descended (是…的后裔) from Indians. And nowadays, more and more history classes in US public schools are educating students about how Indians suffered during the settlement of the US.
Although what happened cannot be undone, we can learn at least one thing from the sad history of the Indians: If we want a better future, we must look carefully and honestly at the past.

A.They were granted US citizenship.
B.They were regarded as a military “enemy”.
C.They were required to live along the Mississippi River.

10.Which of the following aspects shows the American Indian legacy today

B.Popularity of the Indian language.
C.Success of the Academic and other important US leaders.
D.More and more history classes in American public schools.
11.What is the author’s attitude toward the history of American Indians
A.It should be ignored to move on. B.It holds little interest for him.
C.It’s hurtful to be reminded of it. D.It’s valuable to reflect on it.
A Yangge folk dance performed by robots during the Spring Festival Gala of the Year of the Snake on Tuesday night has wowed users of some overseas social media, as the performance blended cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology.
In the performance directed by the famous Chinese director Zhang Yimou, 16 robots produced by Chinese robotics company Unitree, dressed in northeastern Chinese style floral padded jackets (大花马甲), performed together with dancers from China’s XinjiangArt Institute. The humanoid robots can not only smoothly twist their waists and mimic human leg-kicking movements, but also spin handkerchiefs (手绢), throw them out and return to their position accurately. The innovative performance has impressed many netizens on overseas social media platforms including Reddit and X.
“Honestly the full thing is actually quite impressive,” one netizen said on Reddit. “Watching the full dance and the way the robot spins those handkerchiefs is really impressive,” another one posted. “I actually think it’s kind of cool. The more you integrate technology into life, the easier it is to get people to understand it,” an X user said. “While Elon Musk’s Optimus robot walks like an elderly person following a hip surgery, China’s humanoid robots danced like spring chickens at China’s Spring Festival Gala,” another netizen posted on X.
Those robots were Unitree H1, a humanoid robot product of Unitree. The company told the Global Times on Tuesday night that the robots use AI-driven full-body motion control technology, which is capable of achieving a maximum joint torque (扭矩) of 360 Nm. Coupled with 360° panoramic (全景的) depth perception technology, they can precisely grasp every movement in surroundings. Moreover, through advanced AI algorithms, they can perfectly “understand” music, adjusting movements in real-time according to the music. The high-precision 3D laser SLAM positioning and navigation technology also enable the robots to accurately find location even in complex stage environments, the company noted.
Unitree stated that they gave this robot model the name “Fuxi”, which has the same pronunciation as a legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation, representing the good fortune blessings brought by technology.
12.Besides twisting and kicking, what other actions can the robots perform in the dance
A.They can spin handkerchiefs and control their return position.
B.They can sing traditional Chinese folk songs in harmony.
C.They can perform complex acrobatic tricks.
D.They can interact with the audience in real-time.
13.Which of the following technologies is used by the robots in the performance
A.3D holographic projection technology to make the robots look more vivid.
B.AI-generated music technology to create suitable music for the performance.
C.AI-driven full-body motion control technology.
D.Augmented reality technology to enhance the visual effect of the performance.
14.What can be inferred about the reason why Unitree named the robot model “Fuxi”
A.Unitree wanted to honor a historical figure in Chinese history.
B.Unitree tried to emphasize the technological superiority of their robots.
C.Unitree intended to promote their robots as replacements for traditional practice.
D.Unitree aimed to highlight the cultural significance of technology.

根据第三段中“American Indians were treated as a military “enemy” until 1924, when the few Indians still alive at that point were granted US citizenship.(美国印第安人都被视为军事“敌人”,直到 1924 年,当时少数仍然活着的印第安人被授予美国公民身份)”可知,19世纪中叶,美洲印第安人被视为军事“敌人”。故选B。
根据倒数第二段中“While the story of the American Indians has been a sad one, their legacy is still felt every day in the US. Many US geographical names come from Indian languages, such as Ohio, Topeka, Kansas and the Potomac River.(尽管美洲印第安人的故事令人悲伤,但美国每天仍能感受到他们的遗产。美国的许多地名都来自印第安语言,如俄亥俄州、托皮卡州、堪萨斯州和波托马克河。)”可知,一些地名的由来体现了当今美洲印第安人的遗产。故选A。
根据最后一段“Although what happened cannot be undone, we can learn at least one thing from the sad history of the Indians: If we want a better future, we must look carefully and honestly at the past.(尽管已经发生的事情无法挽回,但我们至少可以从印第安人的悲惨历史中学到一件事:如果我们想要更好的未来,我们必须认真、诚实地审视过去)”可推知,作者认为反思美洲印第安人的历史是很有价值的。故选D。

17.根据上文“Start choosing one day of the week to put away your digital devices. If you need something to wake you up, avoid using your phone, as it’ll likely stimulate you to check your messages before you’re even stepping out of bed.(开始选择一周中的一天来放下你的电子设备。如果你需要一些东西来唤醒你,那就不要用手机,因为它可能会刺激你在起床之前查看信息)”可知,空前提到了在这个日子里要避免使用手机等数字设备,以免在起床前就受到信息的干扰。E选项“不要盯着电子设备看,你的大脑会得到休息”承接上文,继续说明设立无屏幕日的好处,符合语境,故选E。
18.此空为小标题;根据本段内容“Instead of depending on your phone, set out to design a reliable workout plan, which uses printed instructions to train your memory. There are several techniques you can use, but whichever ones you choose, physical paper is the key. It allows you to exercise your brain to find the answer within the pages themselves, rather than turning to your phone for help.(与其依赖你的手机,不如着手设计一个可靠的锻炼计划,使用打印的说明来训练你的记忆力。你可以使用几种技巧,但无论你选择哪一种,实体纸都是关键。它可以锻炼你的大脑在书页中找到答案,而不是求助于你的手机)”可知,本段主要讲的是不要依赖手机,而是要通过制定可靠的锻炼计划来训练记忆力,使用纸质指令来锻炼大脑在页面中寻找答案的能力。故A选项“锻炼记忆力”能够概括本段主旨,故选A。
19.根据上文“There is no denying that digital devices have made our lives extremely convenient.(不可否认,数字设备使我们的生活非常方便)”以及后文“Although we can try to avoid using digital devices, it is undeniable that we will need them for certain tasks.(虽然我们可以尽量避免使用数字设备,但不可否认的是,我们将需要它们来完成某些任务)”可知,第四段先承认数字设备的便利,后需转折指出其负面影响。
20.根据后文“It can be a very effective tool, but its usefulness, or uselessness, entirely depends on your attitude. You have to learn how to use it correctly so that it doesn’t take over.(它可以是一个非常有效的工具,但它的有用或无用,完全取决于你的态度。你必须学会如何正确地使用它,这样它才不会占上风)”可知,本句承上启下,既提到技术的存在性,又引出下文关于正确使用技术的讨论。故G选项“尽管有所谓的‘数字健忘症’,但科技确实在我们的生活中占有一席之地”符合语境,故选G。
