教材分析
本节课是 Section B 的听说部分，本节课通过图片对比大象和熊猫的差异，引出谈论动物的话题，以熊猫幼年时期和成年时期作对比，进行听力训练，深入地谈论大熊猫的特征。本节课既巩固 Section A 部分所学的数字表达法及比较级最高级句型，又为下一课时的大阅读做铺垫。
学情分析
本节课听力材料话题是动物---能猫，学生在背景知识方面认知较多，基本不会构成理解困难等问题。经过本单元前面阶段的学习，大部分学生能够正确运用比较级用法。同时，在数字表达方面，学生已经熟练较大数字以及小数点的表达，所以在本节课的听力理解方面存在的问题较小。本节课将学习用数字和比较级来描述动物，进一步激发热爱动物、保护动物的情感。

1. 学习词汇句型:weigh, birth, adult, at birth, up to,many times more than 等；2. 掌握倍数表达法。
II. 文化意识：通过对比学习幼年和成年大熊猫，增强动物保护意识，激发学生敬爱生命的思想。

IV. 学习能力：
1. 通过听说训练,学会用倍数表达来谈论两个事物;
2. 能用比较级句型对两种动物进行比较。

1. 通过情景体验学习 baby pandas 和 adult pandas 的一些事实.
2. 能运用事实和比较级句型介绍某种动物.

Step 2 Pre-listening Comparisons. T leads Ss to compare the two animals from these aspects: Height, Weight & Food 跟着老师，使用 倍数表达法，完 成熊猫和大象在 身高、体重、食 量方面的对比。 学习比较级的倍数表达法，熟悉比较级句子，为听力做铺垫。
Step 3 While-listening 1. First T asks Ss to read the numbers in 1b. 2. Work on 1b. T plays the recording for the Ss to check (√) the numbers they hear. 3. Go through 1c.
