C.How to enjoy health care payments.
【答案】17.A 18.A 19.C 20.B
【原文】
W: Japan’s government has passed laws to lower the age at which people become adults. It is the first time since 1876 that this has happened. From the year 2022, teenagers will become adults at the age of 18, which is two years earlier than the age at which adulthood currently legally happens. However, even though the age has been lowered, there are still certain things that will not change. The legal age for drinking alcohol and smoking will remain fixed at 20. The new law will enable 18-year-olds to get married without the agreement of their parents, and allow them to apply for loans and credit cards.
The new law has been passed in an effort to bring about social and economic change in Japan. The government hopes to see an increase in the number of young people getting married and starting families. This will help to deal with the nation’s falling birth rate and ageing population. Greater financial freedoms could be a boost to the economy and provide more tax incomes. This is very important for a government struggling to deal with increasing retirement money and health care payments.
Many of Japan’s young people are more concerned about how the law will affect traditional Coming of Age Day. This is a national holiday held in January in which 20-year-olds dress up in traditional clothes to celebrate adulthood.

Bright and early on the morning of our first full day in Antarctica, L’ Austral’s Captain Fabien’s voice woke us up as it came through a loudspeaker. If we looked outside right now, he said, we’d see a beautiful sea of icebergs in the golden sunlight. My sister and I jumped out of bed, staring in amazement as we sailed past giant pieces of ice. In the distance, we spotted a group of humpback whales feeding on smaller fishes. Next door, my parents were also waking up to the sights of a new day in Antarctica. Over breakfast, my sister and I excitedly told them about the whales we saw from our room that morning.
You might not immediately think of “family vacation” when talking about a trip to Antarctica, but tour companies like Adventures by Disney are changing that. The company offers guided group trips to destinations across all seven continents in the world.
Our adventure started when we flew to Buenos Aires and explored the beautiful Argentine capital for a day. After leaving Buenos Aires, we flew to Ushuaia on an Adventures by Disney plane. Then, it was the journey toward the Drake Passage. After a speedy Drake Passage crossing, we reached Antarctica early, adding a half day to our scheduled four days on and around the continent.
To those unfamiliar with Adventures by Disney, the fact that you can experience Antarctica — the most distant, extreme continent — with Disney might be surprising. During the trip, there were thoughtful acts, from stamped postcards to send from an Antarctica post office to a champagne (香槟) party on our final stop of the journey. Adventures by Disney truly thought of everything for us. Antarctica is a life-changing destination packed with experiences that can’t be copied. We experienced seasickness when travelling across the Drake Passage, hiked up ice hills alongside lovely animals, and had a taste of champagne. And honestly, it’s going to be hard for the next family trip we may take to compete.
24.How did the author and her sister feel when sailing past the icebergs
A.Frightened. B.Terrific. C.Confused. D.Unconcerned.
25.What happened first on the author’s journey
A.They flew to Ushuaia. B.They passed through the Drake Passage.
C.They travelled around Buenos Aires. D.They hiked up ice hills alongside lovely animals.
26.What can we infer about their travel from the last paragraph
A.The author might feel bad when crossing the Drake Passage.
B.The author was the most impressed by the champagne party.
C.The author believes that their next travel will be more thrilling.
D.The author thought an Antarctica post office should be established.
27.Which can serve as the best title for the text
A.A Family’s Journey to Antarctica.
B.A Comfortable Travel Experience.
C.An Antarctic Adventure for Scientific Research.
D.Exploring Antarctica — A Place with Various animals.

C
A famous travel writer, pick Iyer, recently wrote of his experience in the deep south of the world. The visit, he said, “awakens you to the environmental concerns of the world, and you go home with important questions for your conscience (良知) as well as radiant memories.” Iyer isn’t alone. This response is widespread, known in the industry as Antarctic ambassador ship.
In Antarctic a, crowding, environmental impact and emissions are the most pressing issues. While 100,000 tourists a year is tiny by global tourism standards, and visits are concentrated in highly sensitive ecological areas for only a few months per year. There are no residents to disturb (other than local wildlife), because there’s no host community to protest if visitor numbers get too high.
Even so, strong protections are in place. In accordance with the Antarctic Treaty System — the set of international agreements signed by countries with an Antarctic presence or an interest — tourism operators based in those nations have to apply for permits and follow strict environmental regulations.
For instance, to avoid introducing new species, tourists have to follow rules such as disinfecting their boots and vacuuming their pockets before setting foot on the ice, and keeping a set distance from wildlife.
Almost all Antarctic cruise owners belong to the International Association of Antarctic a Tour Operators, the peak body that manages Antarctic tourism. For the first time this year, operators have to report their overall fuel consumption as part of IAATO’s efforts to make the industry more climate-friendly. Some operators are now using hybrid vessels (合成船舶) that can run partly on electric propulsion (推进) for short periods, reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
If you’re one of the tourists going to Antarctica this summer, enjoy the experience — but go with care. Be aware that no trip south comes without environmental cost and use this knowledge to make clear-eyed decisions about your activities both in Antarctic a and once you’re safely back home.
28.What’s the function of Paragraph 1
A.To introduce the famous writer pick layer. B.To show how amazing to be Antarctic Ambassador.
C.To arouse public interest in Antarctic tourism. D.To show concerns for Antarctic environment.
29.What’s the possible meaning of the underlined word “vacuuming” in Paragraph 4
A.Protecting. B.Emptying. C.Staining. D.Filling.
30.Which is true about the operator this year according to the passage
A.They needn’t report overall fuel assumption.
B.They made no effort to be climate-friendly.
C.Hybrid vessels are a good choice to reduce CO2.
D.Polar travel can be stopped right away by the company.
31.What’s the author’s attitude towards Antarctic tourism
A.Positive. B.Neutral. C.Negative. D.Unclear.
【答案】28.D 29.B 30.C 31.A

This response is widespread, known in the industry as Antarctic ambassador ship.
根据第四段“For instance, to avoid introducing new species, tourists have to follow rules such as disinfecting their boots and vacuuming their pockets before setting foot on the ice, and keeping a set distance from wildlife.(例如,为了避免引入新物种,游客必须遵守一些规定,比如在踏上冰面之前给靴子消毒、vacuuming口袋,并且与野生动物保持一定的距离)”可推知,为避免引入新物种,踏上冰面之前给靴子消毒,要防止口袋里有从其他地方带来的东西被带到南极,因此要保证口子里没有东西,“vacuuming their pockets”意思是清空口袋,vacuuming意思是“清空”。故选B。
30.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段中“Some operators are now using hybrid vessels (合成船舶) that can run partly on electric propulsion (推进) for short periods, reducing carbon dioxide emissions.(一些运营商现在正在使用混合动力船,这种船可以在短时间内部分依靠电力推进,从而减少二氧化碳排放)”可知,混合动力船是减少二氧化碳排放的好选择。故选C。
31.推理判断题。根据最后一段“If you’re one of the tourists going to Antarctica this summer, enjoy the experience — but go with care. Be aware that no trip south comes without environmental cost and use this knowledge to make clear-eyed decisions about your activities both in Antarctic a and once you’re safely back home.(如果你是今年夏天去南极洲的游客之一,享受这段经历吧——但要小心。要知道,每一次南极之旅都会付出环境代价,利用这些知识,明智地决定你在南极的活动,以及一旦你安全回家后该做什么)”可知,作者对南极之旅的建议是享受这段经历的同时要多加注意;由此可推知,作者对南极旅游持积极态度。故选A。

第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Eight-year-old Peter was a lively and energetic little boy. Every weekend, he would go to his grandfather’s house, although he didn’t particularly enjoy it. His grandfather was very strict with Peter. He demanded that Peter develop two good habits: being punctual (准时的) and staying organized. To help his grandson develop these habits, the grandfather took certain measures. For instance, Peter had to be in the dining room sharply at 12:00 noon for lunch, or else he would have no meal. Peter sometimes felt that his grandfather was too strict, but he dared not voice his dissatisfaction.
This week was no exception. Peter arrived at his grandfather’s house as usual. His grandfather was busy cooking in the kitchen, the smell of the food filling the air. Peter, left on his own, wandered into the living room to play. There, he accidentally knocked over the first-aid kit that was placed on the table. The contents in the kit spilled all over the floor, small bottles of pills scattered everywhere.
Peter paid no attention to the chaos he had caused. He glanced at the mess, then remembered that David, his friend from next door, was home alone. Awakened by the thought of watching cartoons with David, Peter hurried next door, leaving the spilled contents of the first-aid kit behind.
In the kitchen, the grandfather, who was chopping vegetables, suddenly felt unwell. His heart began to race, and he realized that he was having a heart attack. He struggled to the living room to get his medicine. However, when he got there, all he saw was the overturned first-aid kit and the pills scattered on the floor.
The grandfather bent down with difficulty, his heart racing with anxiety as he searched for the blue bottle that contained his heart medicine. The precious seconds ticked by, and he felt his strength fading. Time was running out, and Peter didn’t know it. The little boy was completely unaware of the danger his grandfather was facing, immersed in the fun of the cartoon, laughing from time to time.
The clock struck 12 but the cartoon was still five minutes away from ending.

Finally, after a desperate search, Peter spotted the small blue bottle hidden under the sofa.

【答案】One possible version:
The clock struck 12 but the cartoon was still five minutes away from ending. Although Peter really wanted to finish watching the cartoon, he tore himself away from the cartoon and went home. As soon as Peter walked in, he was scared to see his grandfather lying on the ground. He quickly ran over and asked what was wrong. His grandfather, in a faint voice, uttered, “Blue bottle... find the blue bottle...” Peter immediately dropped to his knees and started frantically searching the floor. At that moment, he was filled with regret for not tidying up the mess he made when he knocked over the first-aid kit.
Finally, after a desperate search, Peter spotted the small blue bottle hidden under the sofa. He rushed over, reached out to grab the bottle and handed it to his grandfather, tears welling up his eyes and his voice trembling as he apologized, “Grandpa, I’m sorry!” His grandfather, after taking the medicine, gently patted Peter on the shoulder and said, “Thank God you’ve come home in time and find the life-saving medicine for me.” Realizing Grandpa was out of danger, Peter felt a mixed surge of guilt and comfort overwhelming him, and at this moment, he realized the importance of being punctual and staying organized.

【详解】1.段落续写:

A major scientific achievement has been recognized with the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. This award was given to a team using machine learning to solve a big problem in biology: predicting and designing the 3D shapes of proteins. Most of this work was done at a tech company, marking a notable shift that high-level scientific research can also originate outside traditional academic settings.
Proteins are crucial for our bodies and are involved in almost every biological process. The shape of a protein determines its function. If a protein is shaped incorrectly, it can cause serious diseases like Alzheimer’s and diabetes. Historically, predicting a protein’s shape from its amino acid sequence (序列) was very difficult and puzzled scientists for decades.
The breakthrough happened with A-Fold, a machine learning program that can accurately predict protein structures from their amino acid sequences. This tool has changed the field, providing insights into the structure of over 200 million proteins so far. This data is expected to speed up progress in medicine and drug development, opening new ways to treat diseases.
The tech company’s success with A-Fold also stresses the growing impact of artificial intelligence in various scientific field, showing that AI can tackle complex biological problems and contribute to critical advancements in health and medicine.

●Why we need oceans
Evidently, without oceans, life couldn’t exist. Scientists don’t know the exact number, but they think that oceans are home to 50 to 80 per cent of all species on Earth. Oceans hold about 97 percent of all the water on our planet and give us rainwater and drinking water through the water cycle. 38
●How we use oceans
39 For example, millions of people worldwide have jobs related to fishing and fish farming. Oceans also provide us with much of our energy. We’ve been getting oil and gas from beneath the ocean floor for a long time, but now we are aware renewable energy is eco-friendly for the future. We can use the power of waves and tides to produce electricity, and many wind farms are located offshore.
