When I was a little boy, my mom, dad, brothers and I lived in my grandma’s old house. It had four huge vegetable gardens, 1 there were so many flowers around the house. They were so 2 in spring and summer. That wasn’t all, though. On the back yard, my grandma had lots of potted plants. She 3 , talked to and fertilized (施肥) them every day.
And in winter, she would 4 them all inside and set them on shelves, the shelves 5 a little water and a lot of love, she kept them green and growing. Even during the coldest and darkest months, she still kept them 6 .
As a boy, I liked the vegetable gardens. They helped to 7 the family all winter. And I liked the flowers around the house. They were 8 and smelled so sweet in summer. Today I see Grandma’s potted plants in a new light. They are worth every bit of 15 love and care. But my greatest reminder (提醒人的事物) of light and love is Grandma herself. She is light to me, even in my darkest times. And her love lives in my heart.
