Hi Brad,
Sorry to hear that you were worried about giving a public speech
for the first time next week. I’m going to share a story and
hope it will help you feel better.
Last spring, my mother and I were working together in the garden.
When she saw some plants in small pots, she said, “We will dig
them out and move them to bigger pots.”
“Won’t it hurt them I think it is safe for them to stay where they
are.” I was worried.
My mother dug a plant out. “It won’t hurt them,” she said. “Life
in the new pot will be difficult. To survive, the roots will grow
bigger and stronger. Stronger roots will make a stronger plant.”
And now, the plants grow very well in their new, big pots.
Often, when change comes my way, I feel like those little plants—
I feel like I have been dug up and turned upside down. I am
going to worry. Won’t this change be hard for me Won’t it be
good if I stay where I am Then I will remember my mother’s
words: That’s how the roots grow deep and strong.
How did you like my story Please let me know when you
write back.
Best wishes,
Linda
