Soon after a summer camp, Vance learned about buddy benches (伙伴长椅). These benches are seats at a school playground. A lonely child can sit on it. This will show that he or she is in need of a friend.

Vance collected more bottle caps for benches at other schools too. She also made a Facebook page for others to follow her journey. She was surprised that her small project had an impact (影响) on people around the world. She even received bottle caps from Germany, Australia, Isarel.
Today, Vance has helped make 200 such benches in schools. But she has no plans of stopping. She says that even adults can use a buddy bench because people at any age can feel lonely.

Have you ever counted the number of digits (数字) in your mobile phone number Your number has 11 digits. You may sometimes find it hard to remember your number. That’s because China has the longest mobile phone numbers in the world. Why is that
____12____ Each part has a different meaning. The first three numbers tell you which mobile phone service provider you are using. For example, 135 is for the China Mobile Communication Corporation and 188 is for China Unicom. The fourth to the seventh digits tell you which area the number is recorded in. And the last four digits are random (随机的).
The main reason for using 11 digits is that we have the largest population in the world. ____13____ But as our population grew, there were not enough numbers for us to use. So we began to use 11 digits starting from 1999.
11 digits can be used to make tens of billions of mobile phone numbers, according to the Xinhua News Agency. That’s enough for each person to have seven or eight phone numbers to use in China. ____14____ Usually, the service provider will reuse a canceled number after three to six months. If you call a number that you haven’t contacted (联络) for a long time, you may find that its owner has changed. Besides China, Britain and Japan also use 11-digit mobile phone numbers. But their numbers always start with 0. ____15____ Countries like the United States, Australia and India use phone numbers with 10 digits. Canada’s mobile phone numbers are perhaps the world’s shortest: they use 7 digits.
根据短文内容,从下列选项中选出能填入文中空白处的最佳选项,选项中有一项为多余选项。

The International Space Station (The ISS) is a large spacecraft. It travels around the Earth. Astronauts from around the world live at the ISS for weeks or months at a time.
Williams and Wilmore are astronauts with NASA, the United States space agency. They both arrived at the ISS in June 2024. They were supposed to stay there for 12 days.
But then their spacecraft had technical problems. So, their stay on the ISS became much longer. Finally, on March, 2025, Williams and Wilmore returned to Earth. They landed in the water near Florida. Two other astronauts came home with them. One was Nick Hague, who is also from the U.S.
“What a fantastic ride,” said Hague after landing down, “I see smiles on everyone’s face.”
After landing, the four astronauts got a medical check. They were flown to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The astronauts will stay there for several days. Then, they can finally go home!
Williams and Wilmore flew to the ISS in a Boeing spacecraft. During their ride, the spacecraft started to leak helium, a gas used to help it work. Some parts got too hot. NASA did not want the astronauts to fly home in that spacecraft. The space agency said it was too risky.
So, Williams and Wilmore joined the ISS. They ran hundreds of science experiments. They kept the machines on the ISS running and they did three spacewalks. “That is what we do in human spaceflight,” Wilmore said, “We were ready to stay.”
Williams has spent 608 days in space. Wilmore has spent 464 days in space. That is more than most astronauts!

Mum, I Want to Tell You
My mother is tall and thin. She has black hair and big shining eyes. She likes telling jokes. She is a doctor. She not only can help with people’s physical health but also can help with people’s hearts. She is my hero in my heart. What touched me most happened last year. I fell in love with a pretty girl in another school. I spent so much time thinking of her that I couldn’t focus on my schoolwork. After knowing this, my mother didn’t shout at me. Instead, he wrote to me every day to talk with me about it like a elder sister. Finally I got out of my trouble quietly. I love her way of dealing with my private problems.
Mother’s Day is coming. My dear mum, you don’t need to worry about me anymore. I believe there would be some other problems on my way to grow up. But I also believe that I can deal with it well with you around me together. Thank you, my dear mum, I love you! You are the best mum in the world!
