①A smartphone is a phone that combines (合并) things like a phone, clock, camera and computer into one small device (装置). It can make calls like a phone, but it can also access the Internet. Using the Internet, smartphones can play music, take pictures and videos, and check the weather in cities all around the world. But how did the age of smartphones begin
②In 1992, the company IBM created the first smartphone. It was a phone that included a program for writing notes to remember things. It also had a program for showing people dates and times of planned events. This early smartphone could send emails as well. However, this phone never became very popular. For one thing, it was too expensive for many people.
③Other companies then started to work on new phone technology. Companies such as Nokia and Ericsson next introduced their smartphones to the market. In fact, it was the Ericsson company that created the word “smartphone” in 1997. However, these smartphones also achieved little success.
④In 1999, the Blackberry was introduced. This was the first smartphone that was widely used by phone users. The Blackberry was a phone with a keyboard that made it easy to use the Internet and send text messages and emails. The Blackberry was popular with people working in business or in technology. But common phone users still didn’t buy many of them.
⑤In 2007, Apple introduced the iPhone. Not long after that, in 2008, Google introduced the Android phone to the world. These new smartphones from Apple and Google were marketed to all phone users. The goal was to make the smartphone easy to use and something everyone would want. Just as hoped, less than 10 years later, there were over 2 billion smartphone users. Not only is it safe to say that smartphones are taking over the world, but there will soon be a time when people can’t remember when phones only made calls.

Life today is much easier than it was hundreds of years ago, but has brought new problems. One of the biggest is pollution. Pollution comes in many ways. We see it, smell it, drink it and even hear it.
Men have been polluting the earth. Many years ago, the pollution was not so serious because there were not so many people. When the land was used up or the river was dirty in one place, men moved to another place.
Air pollution is now the most serious. Air makes people sick. And lots of people now are trying to use something to clear the air. Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us become angry more easily.
Many countries are making rules to fight air pollution. They stop people from burning coal in houses and factories in the city, and from putting dirty smoke into the air.
Pollution by SO is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution. It is caused by heavy traffic. It is true that if there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.
Although most of the pollution is caused by us, we are the ones who can change the situation. The earth is our home. We must take care of it. And we must pay more attention to the information in pollution at the same time.

We all know that change is hard because your brain is used to doing the same thing again and again. We also know how challenging it can be to experience change. 46 Here are four reasons why change is good for you:
You get to experience more.
47 When you look back on your life, all of the really amazing things are because of a new experience you had. All of those vacations you took and all of the people you have met have taught you more than you ever learned in school. These experiences now decide who you are today.
48
Life in the comfort zone is easy. You can just follow your daily habits and predict the results. Outside of the comfort zone, your imagination is questioned. The idea of doing the same thing over and over again without question may make you feel disappointed.
You’ll be more flexible (灵活的) and adaptable (适应的).
Without doubt, change makes you more flexible and adaptable. You learn to deal with things in a way that seems foreign but acceptable and achievable. 49 You begin to learn more in new situations because you strongly believe that you can do it, not only deal with changes, but also build up your confidence.
You have more fun.
When you are open to change, you are open to saying YES to more. 50 You have the chance to meet more people, too. When you add all of these things together, you are going to have a more colorful life.
阅读短文,把A—E 五个句子填入文中空缺处,使短文内容完整。
A.You are pushed out of your comfort zone.
B.However, the positive result is really great.
C.You are open to more experiences and chances.
