Suddenly, he saw some monkeys in the trees. Each monkey had a hat on its head. The man asked the monkeys to give back his hats, but the monkeys just jumped and laughed. Finally, he had an idea. He took off his hat and threw it on the ground. The monkeys did the same thing: threw the hats on the ground. The man picked up all the hats and went on his way happily.

Does using fingers to count(数数) show that a student is having trouble with math Some people believe so, thinking it’s a sign of having problems in understanding numbers. But others have a different idea. They believe finger counting shows a better understanding of numbers. Recent study has shown that teaching kids to count on their fingers can improve their math skills.
Scientists from Switzerland and France found out the result of finger counting on children. They carried out a study with children who didn’t usually count on their fingers. They wanted to find out if it would help them in math. The study found 328 kindergarten(幼儿园) children in France.
Before the study began, they tested the children to see how well they could solve some simple math problems. Then, they put the children into two groups. One group took part in a two-week training program where they learned to count on their fingers. After the training, they were tested again. The results were surprising! The percentage of their right answers added from 37% to 77%. This was a much bigger jump than the group that didn’t have the training.
Dr.Catherine Thevenot, who led the study, explained the importance of the study, “Over 75% of the kindergartners improved with the training. We give a clear answer to if teachers should support(支持) finger counting. ”
This study started because some teachers weren’t sure if finger counting was a good way of teaching. The findings of this study show that it certainly is. Finger counting not only helps children with their math but also shows that they understand numbers better. This way prepares young learners to become better at math as they grow older.

D. By testing kindergarten children before and after training.

Everyone sometimes talks to themselves. Self-talk is a normal part of life. 31 If your self-talk is negative(消极的) and you start to believe it, that can hurt you. Here are some ways on how to turn your self-talk around.
See what you’re saying. If you catch thoughts like “I’m not smart enough” or “I’ll never get into college,” tell yourself to stop. Then ask: Is this thought true Is it helping me 32
Instead of saying, “I’m not good at this,” try saying, “Next time, I can do better.” 33 These small changes can make a big difference to how you feel and do. Interestingly, study shows that talking to yourself as “you” works even better than “I”. For example, saying “You can do this” can be more useful than “I can do this.”
You can let self-talk help you by giving yourself orders as well. This skill is commonly used by sports players. For example, runners often tell themselves during a race, “Keep your way steady (平稳的)” or “You’ve got this.” You can do the same in everyday situations. If you’re feeling nervous before a competition, tell yourself, “ 34 ” This kind of self- talk helps you.
Self-talk is a useful way. We can better control our feelings and actions through it. So starting today, talk to yourself in a good way!
A. If not, it’s time to change it. B. Take a breath and speak clearly. C. You could be setting yourself up for a fall. D. Also, say like “ I am the best” or “I will make it.” E. However, the way you talk to yourself is more important.
If you need to act at the school art festival, what will you say to help yourself (不超过10词)
