Autonomous driving is becoming an important part of future transportation, but it still faces many challenges with technology and infrastructure (基础建设).
A report from China Youth Daily explains that there are two main types of self-driving systems today: those that use cameras and those that use LiDAR (激光雷达). Each system has its own problems. For example, Tesla’s system uses cameras and deep learning, without high-precision (高精度的) maps. It works well in clear weather but has trouble in bad conditions like heavy rain or fog. Other companies, like Xpeng Motors, use LiDAR technology, but it is expensive, around 7,000 yuan for each system, making it hard to use widely.
Another problem is keeping the cars safe from hackers (黑客). Hackers can break into the car’s system and take control of it using the internet. This could cause accidents or lead to the hackers asking for money.
Self-driving cars can have problems when something unexpected happens. For example, if a traffic light stops working, the car might not know what to do because it is only trained to follow the light. Also, if a child runs into the street, the car needs to react fast; but sometimes its sensors (感应器) might not see the child in time.
Besides these technical problems, the infrastructure for autonomous driving is still in the early stages of exploration, said the BBC. Many cities don’t have a clear plan for their traffic systems. Self-driving cars need to share data (数据) quickly and have powerful computers. Making cars and roads work together needs a lot of teamwork. But rights now, many cities don’t have the technology to send data fast enough.
“Even though self-driving cars perform as well as or even better than humans in some situations, it will still take time before they can be widely used,” said Zhang Yongwei, an electric vehicle (电动汽车) expert, to Xinhua.
26.What is one big challenge for Tesla’s self-driving system
A.High cost of built-in cameras.
B.Trouble working well in bad weather.
C.Difficulty in using deep machine learning.
D.Dependence on high-precision maps.
27.Why isn’t LiDAR technology widely used
A.It is not safe enough. B.It needs high-precision maps.
C.It is very expensive. D.It is still under development.
28.What does Paragraph 3 say about self-driving cars
A.They don’t break down often.
B.They can protect themselves from hackers.
C.They can be hacked and controlled.
D.They can deal with accidents by themselves.
29.Why is the current infrastructure a problem for using self-driving cars
A.Not all roads have traffic lights.
B.Data is not shared quickly enough.
C.Many cities may not have enough computers to process data.
D.Self-driving cars can only run on straight roads.
30.How does Zhang Yongwei see the future of self-driving cars
A.They will never perform as well as human drivers.
B.They will soon replace all human-driven cars.
C.They will cause many social problems.
D.They need more time to develop.

三、任务型阅读
(一)
阅读短文,然后根据内容回答问题。
Artificial intelligence (AI) is part of our everyday life. Ask a chatbot (聊天机器人), such as Deepseek a question, and it will give you answers quickly. Some teachers worry that chatbots could stop students from learning on their own. Should students use AI to do their schoolwork Here are two students’ different answers.
AI could change the ways students learn. Many are afraid that students will use chatbots as a cheating tool (作弊工具). But computer programmers will make chatbots just guide (指导) students through questions, not giving them real answers. Chatbots can work with teachers too. They can help teachers make lesson plans. AI is here to stay. Either you move with the times, or the times will move without you! Peter, 13, Chengdu
Schoolwork should teach kids skills and develop their brains (大脑). Technology can be a useful tool. But kids need to learn to do basic tasks on their own. This is why kids learn how to do math, even though we have calculators (计算器). And it’s why schools teach handwriting and spelling, when most adults write using computers. Kids’ brains need to be exercised to develop, just like their bodies. AI may benefit adults, but it would be bad for children if they used AI before they mastered (掌握) the building blocks (构成要素) of an education. Helen, 14, Boston
36.What do some teachers worry
37.According to Peter, how can Chatbots help students
38.Why does Helen think kids should learn math and handwriting
39.Do you agree that students can use AI to do their schoolwork Why or why not Write 20 words or more.
(二)
Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing faster than anyone expected. For tech enthusiasts (爱好者), the possibilities are endlessly exciting, but some people feel worried about the new technology. The NSPCC, a charity that works to keep children safe, has called on the government to do more to protect children from AI software. A report by the charity has found that children who use AI can be exposed to (容易接触) content that makes them feel upset. There were also examples of young people using it to be unkind to others. According to a survey, 78% of the UK public think the government should conduct (实施) more safety checks on generative AI software and include rules protecting children in AI-related laws.
Supporters think AI is important technology and children need to understand how it works so that they can use it when they’re older. In ICT lessons at school, pupils learn how to operate other types of software, so they should know how to use AI too. Some adults use AI at work to make certain tasks easier, such as writing an email or planning a meeting. If children were allowed to use AI, they could try using it for their schoolwork. The AI software might inspire an idea to help them get started on a piece of homework or school project. It doesn’t just have to be used for school or work-related reasons. In a 2024 report by Ofcom, a group overseeing the UK’ s communication services, about Internet usage, 63% of eight to 15-year-olds reported using generative AI tools “for fun”.
While there are some problems that should be considered, generative AI is still quite a new technology and it’s being updated all the time. It’s better to keep children away from it for now. This will give adults the chance to prove that it’s safe to use and for the government to put tighter rules in place. Besides, AI can expose children to content that makes them or another child upset or worried. It’s a very powerful tool and they shouldn’t be allowed to use it. The software isn’t perfect and it can give users wrong information. A study last year by Purdue University in the US found that ChatGPT gave wrong information 52% of the time when answering computer programming questions. The programmers involved in the study didn’t notice the wrong answers 39% of the time.
So, considering the benefits AI can bring to children’s learning and creativity, as well as the potential risks such as exposure to harmful content and misinformation, what do you think Should children be allowed to use AI
40.How may AI make children feel, according to the NSPCC report
41.What do most of the UK public suggest the government do
42.Why is the study by Purdue University introduced
43.Do you think children should be allowed to use AI Why or why not (Please give two reasons.)
