Do teenagers in small villages do chores at home How about the teenagers in big cities Here is a survey. We asked 4,000 teenagers in China several questions. Half of them come from big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The others are from small villages. We made a diagram of the result of our survey. Let’s have a look at it. We found out that teenagers from small villages do more chores than those from big cities. Maybe it is because they live a harder life. Zheng Lin is a Junior 3 student in Shijiazhuang, Hebei. Earlier this month, Zheng and his classmates stood on the street with a box asking people for donations(捐款). Later they gave the money they got to the poor students in their school.
Many Chinese students raise money to help people in need. Most of the time, they hold a box and ask for donations on the street or in the park. Or they sell things like old books and CDs. Those students have done a great job so far. The money helps the students in poor areas like Yunnan and Gansu with new clothes, pens and pencils.
Teenagers in the US make donations, too. But they raise money in a different way—they raise money by doing something for others. For example, they sell homemade food or play musical concerts in their neighbourhood to raise money.
“Chinese students like to wait for people to donate, or sell things that they buy with their parents’ money,” says Ge Daoshun, an expert. "While US kids get donations and give people something useful in return.”
Ge says Chinese teenagers should learn to raise money in the US kids’ways. “That way, they can show their talents and practice communication. More importantly, they can learn every coin counts(有价值). They have to work hard to get a donation.”

What's going to happen in the future Will robots control our planet Will computers become smarter than us Not likely. But here are some things that scientists say are most likely to happen in 10 to 30 years from now, according to the BBC.2-1-c-n-j-y
Digital money
We used to pay with cash for everything we bought. Now when we use a credit card to shop online, money is spent without us seeing it. That means we are already using digital money. Using a card is much easier than searching our pockets for change. It is also safer than carrying a lot of cash.
When ATM cards were first introduced, they were not accepted everywhere. But now it's hard to live without them. It's reported that people in Sweden completely stopped using cash last year, and the US might be next.
Bionic eye
It's no longer something only in a science fiction movie. People who are blind may have a chance to get their sight back—by wearing bionic eyes.
A blind eye can no longer sense light, but a bionic eye can use a camera to “see” the environment and send data to the mind. Now the bionic eye only allows patients to see lights and unclear shapes. A high resolution image could be just a few years away.
Self-driving cars
Unlike a human driver, a self-driving car won't get distracted by phone call, the radio or something outside the window. Sensors and cameras on the car would allow it to stick reduce the number of road accidents. You could even take a nap while the car driver itself.
Many vehicle companies are now planning self driving cars. “By 2040, driverless vehicles will be widely accepted and possibly be the dominant vehicles on the road,” said Jeffrey Miller, professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage, US.
119.What does the writer mainly tell us about digital money
A.We use digital money to shop online without paying money.
B.Digital money is most likely to be used instead of cash.
C.Using a credit card is easier and safer than cash
D.ATM cards are always popular.
120.Which of the following statements is TRUE
A.Bionic eyes only appear in the science fiction film.
B.Human drivers won't get distracted by something outside.
C.The blind wearing bionic eyes may see clearly in the future.
D.There will be no road accidents at all if self-driving cars are used.
121.Which of the following can be predicted from the passage
A.There would be a number of self-driving
B.The blind could use cameras to see things around.
C.We would live a hard life with digital money.
D.Robots would control the world.
122.From the report, we can learn some information about ________.
A.industry and farming B.science and technology
C.culture and art D.traffic and journey

It was on a cold winter night that I knew my mother was dying. I travelled miles from home to spend the last night with her. I sat right next to her sick body, reading her long-loved books. It was one of the most difficult and painful times in my life. After she died, for many days, I stayed alone in her room, with a lonely and empty heart.
Everything was in silence. But one evening the silence was broken. I heard crying outside. I opened the door to find a little dog on the steps. He was thin and poor. I brought him inside and fed him with some fish, and then he fell asleep.
The next morning, I learned that the dog’s owner had moved out, so the little dog was there all alone, just like me. As I walked back to the house, I tried to work out what to do with him. Taking care of something seemed like the very last thing I wanted to do. But when I opened the door, he ran to me and jumped into my arms. It was clear that he didn’t want to go anywhere. When the time finally came for me to return home, I had to decide what to do with him. There was no way I would leave without him. From then on, things grew easier. With him around, time seemed to pass much faster.
Five years has gone since my mother died. Over the years, many people have said how nice it was of me to save the dog. But I know that we saved each other. I may have given him a home but he gave me something greater.
