例:原文“30% of students prefer online learning”,选项可能改为“Most students choose online classes”。
例: 文中提到“John canceled the trip due to bad weather”,推断他“disappointed”需结合前文描述其期待。
例: “The professor’s lecture was a real eye-opener.”
例: “The book, which was written by a renowned scientist, explains how AI can benefit education.”
关注过渡词(however, therefore, for example)判断段落关系,归纳段落主旨。
标记转折词(but/however)、因果词(so/because)及观点句(In my opinion...)。
Step 2:
例: 题目问“How did the inventor feel about his creation ”,定位到描述发明者情绪的语句。
Step 3:
例: 题干问“What can we infer from Paragraph 3 ”,需分析段落中的数据或案例,而非直接引用原文。
Step 4:
可能设置开放性问题(如“Do you agree with the author Why ”),需结合文本与自身观点作答。
“The concept of ‘smart cities’ uses AI to manage traffic, energy, and public services. However, critics argue that data privacy may be at risk if governments have too much control.”
题目:
“What is the main purpose of the passage ”
A. To promote AI technology in urban planning.
B. To discuss both benefits and challenges of smart cities.
C. To compare traditional cities with smart cities.
A
Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is a part of life. After all, we can’t win all the time. However, we can learn something valuable from every failure (失败). This may help us succeed in the future. So we must know how to be a good loser.
We must not be afraid of losing. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it. Failure can’t be avoided in our life. Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb (灯泡).When he was asked how he felt, he said that he hadn’t failed 10,000 times but had learned 10,000 things which didn’t work. We must know that history is full of examples of men and women who achieved success although they failed many times.
Losing is not very disgraceful. We must accept our failure and learn to take advantage of it. Remember that it can be helpful. Take action to walk out of it. When we lose, think about what we did and how we can improve. If someone else can help, we’ll be lucky enough. Maybe he or she has been through the same experience before. Many people enjoy helping others solve problems. This can save us a lot of time in learning how to avoid the same mistakes in the future.
We should face our failure when we lose. There is only one winner in every competition. Some win, while some lose. That is a usual way of life. If we offer the winners our congratulations (祝贺) and share in their happiness, we won’t feel sorry for our failure.
In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life. It might be painful at the beginning, but there are many advantages. Good losers set examples to us, and most importantly, they finally win.
1.What can we learn from every failure according to the text
2.In the writer’s eyes, why did Edison achieve success
3.What does the underlined word “disgraceful” probably mean
4.What does the writer advise the losers to do in a competition
5.What is the best title for the text
A valuable thing. / Something valuable.
He saw the bright side of losing. / He was not afraid of losing. / He learned from his failures. 3.Bad. / Terrible. / Awful.
4.Offer the winners congratulations and share in their happiness. / They should face their failure (bravely/ properly/ correctly).
5.(Advice on) How to be a good loser (Any reasonable answer is OK.)

5.根据第一段“So we must know how to be a good loser.”和最后一段“In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life.” (Advice on) How to be a good loser (Any reasonable answer is OK.)

The book The Merchant of Venice is a dramatic work by Shakespeare, an English famous writer in the 16th century. It talks about something happening between merchants in Venice. The main characters are Bassanio, Portia, Shylock and Antonio.
The drama begins with Antonio, who helps Bassanio borrow money from Shylock, and then brings out other stories. Bassanio is a poor merchant. He needs money to follow his dream to marry Portia—a very beautiful and rich lady. He first wants to borrow money from his friend Antonio, also a merchant in Venice. Antonio borrows the money from a Jewish rich merchant Shylock. Antonio does much harm to Shylock before because Antonio really hates Jewish. Shylock is a little mean and loves money very much. He always gets interest from the people who borrow money from him. Antonio promises he will pay the money back in three months, or Shylock will be allowed to cut out 1 pound of flesh out of Antonio’s body.
Bassanio successfully wins the love of Portia but soon knows his friend can’t pay the money back to Shylock on time. Bassanio returns to Venice as fast as he can and attends a trial (审讯). The reason why Antonio isn’t able to pay is because his ships are caught in storm. Portia, dressing up as a young lawyer, claims (声称) that the words “1 pound of flesh” not “1 pound of flesh and blood”. She says that Shylock is only allowed to remove flesh, but not any blood, which is impossible. Thus, she helps make Antonio safe and make Shylock fail. At the same time, Shylock loses most of his money. At the end, Bassanio and Portia have a happy ending.

There is an ancient story behind it. During the Qing Dynasty, Minister Zhang Ying received a letter from his family back in his hometown of Tongcheng one day. All that fuss (大发牢骚) over one metre or two. Look at the long Great Wall. Long gone is its builder Emperor Qinshihuang.” His reply made the family members realize that the wall was only a temporary (暂时的) matter and that the close relationship with their neighbour was more important. So, they decided to move their wall back about one metre. In turn, the Wu family was deeply touched by this act and moved back another metre while building their wall. Almost two million young workers in the UK have to live with their parents because they cannot buy a house or rent a room. Newspapers in Britain call them the “clipped wing generation” because they are like birds who have had their wings cut. House prices in the UK are now so high that many young people cannot afford to buy one. This means a quarter of young adults have to live with their parents or grandparents. A poll (民意测评) found that 48 percent of the people said the biggest problem was housing costs. Britain has a long history of young people moving away from the family home when they start working. Rising house prices are now making this more and more difficult.
A 32-year-old woman said she has been saving money for over ten years to pay for a new apartment. She said it was very difficult because the more she saves, the more house prices go up. She is worried about the future if she can’t buy her own home. She told reporters why she didn’t want to leave the family home and rent, saying, “If I move out now, the reality is I’ll be stuck paying expensive rents for the rest of my life... The thought that I’m going to be living like a teenager into my late 30s or even 40s is really disheartening (沮丧的).” A charity for homeless people said Britain’s government needed to build more homes and sell them at a price that is low enough for younger people.

“Have you heard of Flint ” Dr Livesey asked Squire Trelawney.
“Yes, I have!” the squire replied. “He was one of the most dangerous pirates that ever sailed the seas. He only cared about money and everyone was afraid of him. No one knows where he buried his treasure.”
“Maybe these papers give a clue,” said the doctor. And we opened the captain’s papers. Inside there was a detailed map. It showed an island, about nine miles long and five across. It had two good natural harbours and a hill in the centre, marked Spy-glass Hill. There were three crosses in red, two in the northern part and one in the south-west. Beside the last cross were the words: Most of treasure here.
On the back of the map was this information:
The treasure is by a tall tree. Spy-glass Hill is behind you to the north, Skeleton Island is below you to the south-east. The silver is in the north-east and the guns are in the north-west.

You don’t know me unless you read a book called The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Huck’s my name, Huckleberry Finn. That book ends like this: my best friend, Tom Sawyer, and I found $12,000 in gold in a cave. We became rich. We got $6,000 each.
My mother died long ago and then my dad, Pap, disappeared. He was always drunk and he often beat me. Then a kind old lady called Widow Douglas took me into her home to live. I hated those new clothes. I missed my old life. I put on my old clothes and ran away and was free and happy, but Tom Sawyer found me and said that if I wanted to join his club, I would have to return to live with the widow. For this reason, I returned to live with her.
The months passed and winter came. The weather got cold. One morning I woke up and there was snow on the ground. On my way to school I saw some footprints outside the widow’s house. My heart jumped. Pap!
“He’s heard about my money,” I thought. “And he wants it! ”
When I lit my candle and went up to my room that night, there sat Pap—his own self! I expected to be scared of him now, but I wasn’t. I stood looking at him; he set there—looking at me.
Pap was nearly fifty years old. His black hair was long and uncombed and dirty. He had allowed hair to grow on his face, which was ghostly white.
Step 4:

An about 2-metre-wide alley, or “Liu Chi Xiang” in Chinese, now attracts a large number of visitors in Tongcheng, Anhui.
There is an ancient story behind it. During the Qing Dynasty, Minister Zhang Ying received a letter from his family back in his hometown of Tongcheng one day. From the letter, Zhang learned that his family had quarrelled with their neighbour Wu and his family over the boundary between their houses. Since both families held strong power in Tongcheng, the disagreement was never solved.
Zhang’s family wrote the letter hoping that Zhang could make their neighbour give in. However, Zhang replied with a poem saying, “Writing a letter from home, miles away, just for a wall. It created an about two-metre-wide narrow “alley” between the houses.
Today, Tongcheng has become a national historical and cultural city. And the alley shows the values of tolerance and harmony (宽容与和谐) that are widely admired in China.

The Ghost moved slowly and silently towards him. And as it moved through the air, it scattered gloom.
The Ghost wore a black robe. The robe covered its head, its face and its body. The only thing visible was a hand. The Ghost neither spoke nor moved. Scrooge was terrified.
“Are you the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come ” asked Scrooge. The Ghost didn’t answer, but it pointed its hand in front of it. “You are going to show me the future,” Scrooge continued. “Am I right, Ghost ”
The Ghost nodded its head. That was the only answer Scrooge received.
“Ghost of the Future,” he said, “I am more afraid of you than of all the other ghosts. But because I want to be a better man, I will go with you. Please, speak to me.”
It didn’t reply. The hand pointed straight in front of them.
“Lead on! ” said Scrooge.
The Ghost moved forwards. Scrooge followed in the shadow of its robe. And the robe carried him along. The city sprang up(突然出现)around them. There they were, in the heart of it. The Ghost stopped beside some businessmen at the Stock Exchange. His hand was pointing to them, so Scrooge listened to their conversation.
“I only know he’s dead,” said a great fat man.
“When did he die ” asked another.
“Last night, I think.”
“What was the matter with him ” asked a third.
“God knows,” said the first, with a yawn.
“What has he done with his money ” asked a red-faced gentleman.
“I don’t know,” said the great fat man, yawning again. “He hasn’t left it to me. That’s all I know.”
Everybody laughed.
“It will be a very small funeral” said the great fat man. “I don’t think anybody will go to it.”
Scrooge knew the men. And he looked towards the Ghost for an explanation. He didn’t understand why this conversation was important. But he knew it must be.

1.According to paragraph one, why do young workers in the UK have to live with their parents
2.Among 10,000 young adults, how many of them have to live with their parents or grandparents
3.In the past, what did the young people do in Britain when they started working

You will be the ship’s doctor. I can be the captain. We will have a good journey, and easily find the treasure. Then we’ll have enough money to live happily ever after.”
