【真题呈现】02 4题题型(2024·江苏南通·中考真题)
Linda is looking through the website http://www.. Here is what she reads.
Researchers have found the health benefits of dancing for people in poor health condition, from improving brain health to creating community.
Becky is teaching a group of 80 adults some dancing skills. Many of her students are seated in the dancing room because they have difficulty in moving. When they are following Becky’s pretty movements, a sense of peace comes over them.
Dance as a medicine
Helen, a researcher, says that dance requires different parts of the brain to work at the same time, that is to say, dance requires more “brain power” than simpler repetitive (重复的) exercises.
She invited two groups of adults to take part in programmes for over six months. One group practised dancing and the other did a traditional exercise like cycling. Both groups improved their level of physical fitness, but the group of dancers improved more cognitive abilities, such as memory, attention and high-level thinking.
Dance described by Helen as “pleasure double-play” can lift the mood and reduce stress.
Dance as body acceptance
Besides the physical and mental benefits, dance can also help people with diseases accept what their bodies can and can’t do.
Jenny is Becky’s student. Her body went numb when she was in her mid-twenties. She had no feelings from the knees down. She suffered from serious muscle tightness and balance problems, making standing and walking difficult for her.
Jenny recently joined an online dance programme. Not only has it improved her coordination (协调性). but it has enabled her to overcome her fear of being judged (评价) for how she moves, both in the dance class and out in the world.
“I see so many people moving like me,” she says “I don’t have to be perfect in my dancing or make sure my leg lifts this way—it makes me comfortable with where I am right now.”
Dance as community
Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of dance is the sense of community it creates. Dancing with others not only makes people feel less different in their moving abilities, but also helps to fight against loneliness and problems in getting along with others.
Becky started teaching more than 22 years ago, and she has helped 300 communities in 28 countries around the world. In some countries, such as India and South Kores, people have put their own cultural dance styles into their classes.
Becky wants to create a sense of family and community for this group of people. Whenever and wherever she teaches, she hopes to make them feel joyful, get much closer to the community, and explore the limitless possibilities for the rest of their lives.

【真题呈现】03 3题题型(2024·江苏淮安·中考真题)
Just one bite of cake with eggs is enough to make John feel very sick. Susan gets a terrible skin (皮肤) problem whenever she eats anything containing seafood, and David nearly died when he first ate a peanut cookie The body’s reaction (反应) to certain foods can be quite serious resulting in breathing problems or even the death. There are many things we eat that may cause our bodies to react badly if we have a food allergy (过敏).
There are three common ways to test food allergies. Probably the simplest way is to give a child a food test. The doctor watches the child eat a little certain food to see if the child has an allergic reaction. This method takes quite a long time so it is used less often than the other two methods—skin tests and blood tests. In a skin test, a doctor puts allergens under the child’s skin and then waits to see if the child’s skin reacts. In a blood test, doctors take some of the child’s blood and add allergens to it and then check the blood.
Dr. Jennifer from Stanford University spent 10 years studying the methods. She found a surprising fact. Skin tests or blood tests given to patients who visited their doctor for treatment of skin problems or stomachaches showed that these patients were allergic to certain foods. However, later tests showed that although they tested positive (阳性), fewer than 50 percent of them actually had food allergies. The problem might be food intolerance (不耐受) instead of a food allergy.
Food allergies have something to do with a person’s immune system, while food intolerance has something to do with a person’s digestive system and the reaction is usually less serious. One of the most common kinds of food intolerance happens to people who have trouble taking in the sugar in food like milk, cheese and ice cream.
Though allergy tests may show false positive results, they are still useful and can save lives. Some children’s food allergies may disappear as they grow older, so even though doctors don’t cure food allergies, sometimes the body itself does.
10.The underlined word “allergens” refers to (指的是) ________.
A.something that hurts people’s skin B.something that protects people’s skin
C.something that prevents an allergic reaction D.something that causes an allergic reaction
11.What can we learn from Dr. Jennifer’s study
A.Patients who tested positive may have food intolerance.
B.Skin tests are much better than blood tests.
C.Stomachaches are usually caused by food allergies.
D.People with food intolerance should avoid food with sugar.
12.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage

When the actors perform the skill of blowing the face, he blows a small box full of cosmetic powders (化妆粉) which is placed on the stage. And then the powders are blown to his face, changing the color into another. The skill pulling the face is more difficult. In East China’s Anhui province, there’s a famous alley (小巷), Liuchi Alley. The 2-meter-wide alley separates a pair of gray walls. At first sight it may seem common, but to those who know its history, it means much more than its appearance would suggest. During holidays, the alley fills with thousands of visitors each day— attracted there by the story of its creation and the lessons that can be learned from it.
Its name comes from the Chinese word for six and chi—a traditional Chinese unit of length that corresponds to one-third of a meter.
It was so named because of its width. In the early Qing Dynasty, it served as the boundary (边界) between the households of two families. To the south was the Zhang family and to the north the Wu family. Both had male members in high positions within the court of Emperor Kangxi. But the two families quarreled (争吵).

Instead, he called for his family to step back one meter from the boundary. His suggestion so moved the two families, the story goes, that both did exactly that. ________

It may sound unbelievable but the launch event attracted more than 40 million views on Xiaomi Auto’s Weibo alone. Even guessing its price level had been a popular topic on China’s social media platforms for weeks.
Xiaomi, one of the world’s leading smartphone companies, began accepting orders in China through an app on Thursday night, after founder Lei Jun finished a more than two-hour presentation (发布会) on the SU7 car by stating the much-awaited price range: 215,900 yuan to 299,900 yuan.

Zhongshan Eye Center at the Sun Yat-sen University has achieved a milestone in the field of eye surgery (手术). Doctors there completed the world’s first remote (远程的), micron (微米的) operation on animals by using an independently developed 5G robot. The operation, which took place on June 23 at the center in Guangzhou, was done by a medical team operating the robot from the Zhongshan Eye Center in Haikou.
The main part of the robot is a special arm that makes accurate (精准的) remote control possible. When doctors’ hands come to treating eye problems, the common way is to put medicine directly into the eye area. But their hands shake naturally, making it difficult to be very accurate. The robot can copy tasks usually done by hand, and it performs them smoothly and accurately.
Another advantage is that even young doctors can perform eye surgery with 5G robot’s help. According to Professor Lin, the leader of the medical team, becoming a skilled eye doctor takes at least 10 years of practice. However, with the help of the robot, young doctors can achieve a high level of accuracy comparable to experienced doctors.
The third important point is that using 5G makes it possible for doctors to treat patients far away. Eye doctors can get clear and timely pictures, which makes remote operations dependable.
Still, it’s important to remember that while this technology is promising, more research and tests are needed to make sure it’s safe and works well for patients. “If everything goes well, 5G remote micron eye surgery will be available to humans within half a year,” Lin said. The team will keep working hard to help develop remote medicine in China and increase national medical levels.

A.The doctor’s arm. B.The patient’s eye.
C.The robot’s hand. D.The leader’s tool.
16.Which paragraph shows 5G robot may help young doctors
A.Paragraph 1. B.Paragraph 2. C.Paragraph 3. D.Paragraph 4.
17.What can we learn about 5G robot from the passage
A.It can only treat patients nearby. B.It helped complete the eye surgery.
C.It has already been widely used. D.It makes the patient healthy within a month.
18.How does Professor Lin feel about the future of 5G robot
A.Worried. B.Surprised. C.Doubtful. D.Hopeful.

From voluntarily collecting historical materials related to the Great Wall in his Shanxi hometown in Province to becoming an official cultural heritage protector, Yuan Xuerui has spent over twenty years safeguarding the ancient wonder.
China’s Great Wall is one of the great wonders of the world and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built from 3 BC to the 1800s on the north of the country, the Great Wall has a total length of more than 20,000 kilometers.
Yuan, 55, was born in Qingxibao at the foot of the ancient wall in Shanxi’s Daixian county, which is part of the city of Xinzhou. His love for the ancient wall motivated (激励) him to protect it, and when not engaged (从事) in farm work, he spent most of his time walking along the wall to collect bricks that had fallen off due to the long time and prepare for repairs. “What others think as a difficult and dull task of cultural heritage protection often brings me unexpected discoveries,” Yuan said.
He officially became a cultural heritage worker in 2018, and since then his duties have expanded from collecting bricks to organizing ancient documents related to the wall to better tell stories about it. And those are only part of the list.
Children from more than 180, 000 families in China can now go on virtual (虚拟的) tours of ten world-famous museums. The programs provide video clips, cartoons and commentary (实时解说) by Chinese experts. The shows are produced by Aha School, an education company. The families each pay 15 yuan to watch. The company also gives away the programs to 174 rural (乡村的) classrooms.
Ma Xiaoyan is a teacher in Sichuan. He says the children there are very poor. They have never visited a museum. For some of them, even going to the closest town is difficult.
Educators are excited about the museum project. It shows how live streaming (在线直播) can help improve rural education. The technology is already widely popular on social media. However, it was not until recently that it had been used for education.
Aha School is not alone. A few urban schools in China have also begun sharing their lessons with rural schools. But some of the projects fail to produce the expected effect. That is because students in rural classrooms have very different backgrounds.
The museum project of Aha School has been a success. Pan Lisheng, the head of the company, says the problem doesn’t lie in the technology. Instead, it is because few educators have worked out how to make the lessons interesting.
Pan and his workmates make sure that their programs will interest children from any background. “Every child is a unique (独一无二的) flower,” Pan said.

When you travel in Chengdu, never miss the wonderful face-changing at the local tea houses. How much do you know about this traditional skill Let’s learn something about it.
Face-changing is a unique skill in Sichuan Opera, one Intangible Cultural Heritage (非物质文化遗产) in Sichuan. It is also a very lively way to show the thoughts and feelings of different characters of the play.
It is widely believed that the skill of face-changing could date back to ancient times. To scare away the dangerous animals and protect themselves, the ancient people painted their faces in different colors, making themselves look scary. Later, it developed into a famous art form.
Generally speaking, there are three kinds of skills of face-changing, including wiping (擦) the face, blowing the face and pulling the face.
Before performing the skill of wiping the face, the performer will first spread some special paint on the face. Then he could change the color of his face in a second by wiping it. When the actors perform the skill of blowing the face, he blows a small box full of cosmetic powders (化妆粉) which is placed on the stage. And then the powders are blown to his face, changing the color into another. The skill pulling the face is more difficult. Under the cover of the dancing movements, the actor pulls each piece of the facial makeups which is tied with a thin thread (线). The performer must do the movements carefully and very quickly.

The point of their quarrel was the boundary between their two houses and which family had the right to build a wall on the dividing line.
After trying but failing at mediation (调解), the Zhangs wrote to Zhang Ying, their most prominent family member and a trusted top official in the emperor’s court. His response (回复), which is still celebrated in the form of a poem, did not provide the support for which his family had hoped. Instead, he called for his family to step back one meter from the boundary. His suggestion so moved the two families, the story goes, that both did exactly that. ________
Although the walls by the alley are replicas (仿制品), people are still attracted to the area because of its back story. To them, the story is about how to get along with other people. And it has often been cited to talk about the qualities of a kind person, a cultured family, or a good official.

As a heritage worker, Yuan has come to understand the meaning of the Great Wall. “Each brick has endured (忍受) the test of time over hundreds of years—in some cases more than a thousand—carrying rich historical memories,” he said.
This summer, Yuan organized a campaign to call for people to collect bricks for the future repair of the wall. Many bricks were taken away from the Great Wall by local villagers to build their houses in the 1960s and 1970s. “As villagers’ awareness of the need to protect the wall has grown, nowadays, when locals find fallen bricks along the Great Wall, they will pick them up,” he said. “If they see garbage, they will also pick it up and throw it into bins.”
