connect with the rest of the world, know new people and explore new things. With this thought, the
8 began. Communicating in every way I could, I even found it 9 to get along with others.
What's more, I learned a lot of Norwegian in only five days and grew to 10 this place. When
my mom came to get me, I was excited to 11 her around all my favorite places. After the

These days, more and more students in the UK are taking a “gap year”between their graduation
from school and their university studies. This means they can take a year off to do something else,
before they start their studies.
For most students, spending time in foreign countries is the favorite activity --- and Australia is

answers to problems, for example---that will help many students in a job one day.
Finally, getting some knowledge and experience in an area you hope to study or work in one

You know how much your telephone has changed over the past 10 years Your car will change
even more than that in the next 10 years. One of the biggest changes is that cars will drive
themselves. “We certainly have the technology for it now.”says Andrew Poliak of automotive(机动
车辆的)technology supplier QNX.“We expect self-driving cars to be a mainstream thing between
2020 and 2025.”
The American company Google has been working on self-driving cars for years. These cars are
already on the roads in the United States and are truly self-driving. They have to steering wheels(方
向盘)or pedals(踏板). Last week, the police ordered one of Google's cars to stop for driving too
slowly on a public road. The car was not breaking any law, so no one was punished.
Another American company, Tesla, added an “Autopilot” feature to its cars last month. With
the Autopilot turned on, the vehicle drives itself. The car will speed up, slow down, brake and drive
by itself. You can take over driving any time by turning the steering wheel or touching a pedal. The
car uses sensor(s 感应器)to know when driveway changing is safe and whether it should speed up or
slow down.
Tesla Autopilot is made for cross-country driving. It keeps you in the driveway and helps you
avoid hitting other cars. It does not work well on local roads, for it will not stop at a red light or stop
sign.
Reporter Carolyn Nicander Mohr tried the Autopilot feature of a Tesla earlier this month. She
had a hard time trusting the car to do what it should do. She thought about disabling the Autopilot
feature many times during her trip. She wanted to take control at every bend in the road and hit the
brake when the car in front of her slowed down. Yet the car drove perfectly.
Other companies are working on self-driving cars, too. Marcedes-Benz, Audi, BMW.Volvo and
Toyota all have plans for such vehicles.
26.What do Andrew Poliak's words probably mean
A.It is too difficult for people to make self-driving cars now.
B.Self-driving cars will be first put on the market in 2020.
C.There will be more self-driving cars in use in the future.
D.Nobody loves to use self-driving cars at the moment.
27.Why did the police stop the Google car
A.It had no driver. B.It went to slowly.
C.It broke the traffic rules D.It had no steering wheel.
28.The underlined word “brake”probably means ______.
A.加油门 B.刹车 C.前进 D.后退
29.According to the text, Tesla Autopilot ________.
A.is truley self-driving B.can sense traffic lights
C.won't work on freeways D.isn't safe in crowded areas
30.From the passage, we can infer(推断)that _______.
A.self-driving cars are popular nowadays. B.self-driving could be trusted by anyone.
C.a special driveway should be built for self-driving cars.
D.self-driving cars need improving

Several years ago, I worked for 32 English newspaper which was doing such a
research. They asked me to learn a new language for one month. Then I had to go to the country and
do some “tests” 33 (see)if I could “survive(挺过来)” in different situations.
I chose Spanish(西班牙语)and did a one-month course at a language school and 34
(find)that some Spanish words are very similar to English ones. 35 example, hola isn’t
very different from “hello”. Of course, there are other things which are more difficult. In Spanish
you have to change the verbs(动词)for each person. But my 36 (big)problem of all was the
pronunciation. I found 37 was very difficult to pronounce some letters in Spanish, especially
r and j. So I had to download 38 (sentence)onto my phone and I listened and practised them
again and again.
A month later I went to Spain. A Spanish teacher 39 (call)Paula came and began the
test. “Will I survive ” I wasn’t sure enough but 40 I wished I would!

I had a great fun on Monday yesterday. It was 41 traditional Chinese festival called
Dragon Boat Festival.
This festival is in memory of Qu Yuan, one of 42 (great) Chinese poets. He killed
himself by 43 (jump) into the Miluo River on May fifth of the lunar calendar, 278
BC. People rowed their boats to save him. 44 it was too late. They were very sad and then
45 (throw) rice into river to feed the fishes so that they would not eat his body. From then on,
every year 46 that day, people enjoy eating zongzi which is made of rice, meat, eggs and so
on. In the past, we used to eat it once a year, but now we regard zongzi as our daily food. We can eat
them whenever we like.
Have you ever 47 (watch) the dragon boat races on TV It is another important part
of this festival. Several 48 (team) row their dragon boats as fast as they can. The first team
to reach the finish line 49 (win).
I wonder 50 you are interested in the dragon boat festival or not. If you like it,
why not come to enjoy it with us next year

Studying is important to students. But it is always difficult 51 (find) enough time to
study every subject you need. So a good plan helps you to make sure of your 52 (succeed)
in study.
Then, how can we make a study plan Well, begin with listing all the subjects you need to
study and make sure 53 you need to do for each subject. Next, decide how much time you
should spend 54 different subjects. Now, it is a good idea to study at the same time every
day. In this way, you actually have a plan you can remember 55 (easy). While arranging
(安排) time for each subject, you also need to make sure that you still have time for family, friends
and rest. This is because you won’t be able to succeed in your studies unless you balance your
personal life and your study.
Once the plan 56 (make), the next thing you need to do is to follow it. One of the
57 (big) challenges in following your study plan is that you will be tempted (诱惑) to avoid it
and do something relaxing or fun instead. Luckily, you can fight this temptation by taking breaks.
But the sure not to take extra breaks or too long breaks because it can affect your plan. So at the start
of your break, set 58 alarm clock to remind you when your break is over. Also, you need
to use your break wisely. For example, go for a short walk, eat a small snack, or listen to some
music.
To avoid 59 (forget) to follow your plan, try to get into the habit of looking at your
calendar every day. Sometimes our plans are hard to follow 60 some important people in
our lives distract (使分心 ) us from our goals. In order to avoid this, tell people around you about
your plan. Put up a copy of your study guide at home so you and your family can see it, and email a
copy to your friends so they know when you have spare time.

Tesla Autopilot is made for cross-country driving. It keeps you in the driveway and helps you avoid hitting other cars. It does not work well on local roads, for it will not stop at a red light or stop sign.
Reporter Carolyn Nicander Mohr tried the Autopilot feature of a Tesla earlier this month. She had a hard time trusting the car to do what it should do. She thought about disabling the Autopilot feature many times during her trip. She wanted to take control at every bend in the road and hit the brake when the car in front of her slowed down. Yet the car drove perfectly.
Other companies are working on self-driving cars, too. Marcedes-Benz, Audi, BMW.Volvo and Toyota all have plans for such vehicles.
