(一)状语从句 (adverbial clause)

表示时间、地点、原因、目的…
状语从句?
必须符合“从句的三个必须”
(必须是句子;必须有连接词;必须是陈述句)
状语修饰动词、形容词、副词或整个句子。
当状语为句子时即为状语从句,一般可以用来
表示时间、地点、原因、结果等概念。

(一)状语从句 (adverbial clause)
1. 状语从句中连词的选用
使用状语从句时有两点要注意:一是状语从句中连词的选用, 二是条件状语从句中的时态。
状语从句中连词的选用是由句子所表达的逻辑意义决定的。只要知道各种连词的意思和功能就能正确使用。

时间状语从句是用表时间的连词连接一个句子作状语。当状语从句位于句首时,后面常用逗号隔开,并且遵循“主将从现”的原则。

地点状语从句表示地点、方位。可置于句首、句中或句尾。
原因状语从句用来解释某件事发生的原因。
As / Because / Since there was very little support, the strike was not successful.
I’ll stay at home if it rains tomorrow.
条件状语从句表示动作发生的条件,用现在时代替将来时,遵循“主将从现”的原则。

让步状语从句含有使句子具有对比的意义。
I’ve arrived early so that / in order that I can get a good view of the procession.
目的状语从句用以补充说明主句谓语动词发生的目的。

比较状语从句表示比较。
