MAKE A NATURE DOCUMENTARY
Don’t know what to do for this year’s World Wildlife Day You can make your own
nature documentary (纪录片). All you need is a camera and a subject. Here’s how you can get
started.
Pick a subject. Do you want to film wildlife that lives outside your home, or go to a
nearby nature park Do some reading or get advice from your science teacher and then choose
the local wildlife that interests you.
Do your research. Once you decide what to film, do some deeper research on your
subject. Take notes of interesting facts about it. For example, what are some of the animal’s
feeding habits
Film and edit (编辑). When you are ready to film, stay a comfortable distance (距离)
from wildlife so you don’t scare your subject. You can also film an introduction to explain why
you chose your subject. Finally, use an app to edit your film.
Share your film. When you’re happy with your film, invite family and friends to watch it.
You can show your film at home or in your local library. Leave time for questions about your
film. And don’t forget to thank everyone for coming!

A travel journal (日志) is one of the best ways to keep a long journey in memory. Many
details that don’t seem important while you are writing your travel journal often turn out to be so
memorable.
________. When you are on a busy journey, it is easy to forget to write. You may promise
yourself that you will write later, but that almost never happens. Take a few minutes every day and
put down your memories. It doesn’t have to be long, just on a regular basis (定期).
Use your “down time” for your travel journal. There is a surprising amount of sitting
around while traveling. You can always put down a few lines in your travel journal when you are
on trains, waiting for planes, drying your clothes or waiting in line.
________. They include the day, where you are, who you are with, maybe even the weather
and what you eat. Years later when you read your journal, you will know exactly what you were
doing on that day.
________. Listing facts is fine but that isn’t why you travelled. A long journey is a time for
careful thoughts. Memories of these feelings disappear quickly with time. Writing about the
experiences while the memories are fresh is important.
Keep ticket stubs (存根). Whenever you use a ticket for a train or a museum or a ride. Tape
the stubs to your journal. They are pieces of history from your journey. Years later you can look at
the ticket stubs and see exactly what you were doing on a specific day and how much it cost.

My father was busy fixing Belinda’s spaceship all afternoon. In the evening, I went to the
landing place. “Dear Father,” I said politely. “Have you found Belinda’s parents yet ”
“Not yet, my dear.” He shook his head.
I felt relaxed. I didn’t want to meet Belinda’s parents — they might be ten times as loud
and bossy (专横的) as she was.
But Belinda had followed me.
“Not yet ” she shouted. “Why not I’ll send them a message! They’ll listen to me!”
Belinda ran to the radio. She shouted into it so loudly that I had to cover all my four ears.
“Mummy! Daddy! I’m on an awful spaceship full of purple people! Come and find me now!”
“Poor Belinda!” my sister came and said. “Her parents must be missing her.”
“Huh!” I snorted (发出哼声). “Missing her You’re joking! Who would want such a bossy
kid back They probably lost her on purpose (故意地).”
Belinda’s face clouded. I thought she was going to shout again, but she didn’t. Instead,
something very strange happened — her eyes began to water!
“Oh, help!” said Roa. “Is she dying ”
I felt terrible. “Don’t die, Belinda! I didn’t mean it.”
Then Belinda opened her mouth wide and shouted, “What if it’s true What if they’ve gone
away and left me here forever ”
We were all so busy comforting Belinda that we didn’t notice the soft knock of a ship
landing outside. We didn’t see two tall people come out of until Belinda ran out in excitement.
“Mummy! Daddy!”
Belinda’s parents were even uglier than she was, but they looked polite. “Hello, dear,” the
woman said. “We’ re sorry we kept you waiting.”
We smiled as the three of them boarded their spaceship. “Goodbye!” shouted Belinda.
“Goodbye! Thanks for taking care of our baby girl!” said her father.
None of us answered. We waved (挥手) cheerfully as the ship took off and went far away
into the stars.

C.To show China’s determination (决心) to lead in future space exploration.
D.To explain why landing on an asteroid is difficult.

program

need to do is to think about whether our heavily used apps and websites benefit our life or not.
43 After that, add some healthy apps to our phones, such as self-care and learning apps.
44 That’s why we should be careful about the time we spend on the digital devices.
For example, we can keep the phones on or near our body all the time, but we’d better only check
them once or twice a day. 45 Getting out into nature or doing some exercise is also a
good way to stop us from looking at our phones.
A.After she stopped using them, she felt she had more time to think.
B.Also, if we focus only on our devices, we will miss out on our lives.
C.Then we can remove apps like games.

Scientists learned that our thoughts and behaviors are influenced by the colors we see.
Colors are called “warm” (reds and oranges) and “cool” (blues and greens) for a reason:
When we’re in a space where the walls are painted in warm colors (前厅) in a cool climate (气候).
Cool colors are good choices in entrance to buildings in warm climates
Putting a light color on a wall makes that wall seem a little further away than it actually is,
while darker colors on walls make them seem even closer than their true position. So you can use
colors to change the shapes of rooms.
The research has also shown the special “powers” of special colors. First, seeing the color
green has something to do with creative thinking—so greens are good choice for home offices, art
rooms (吸引人的), so reds are great for a bedroom wall. In addition, using yellow in a home can
be wrong. But yellow may be accepted in kitchens because warm colors can help encourage us to
eat much. People are more likely to tell you that blue is their favorite color. That makes it a very
safe and believable choice.
All in all, colors do have influences in our life and maybe, we may find more in the future.
61.Why reds and oranges are called warm colors
62.Translate the underlined sentence into Chinese.
63.List two special powers of special colors.

1.—Shall we take the underground to the city center to take a walk around
—________. Isn’t it worth doing some voluntary work for the elderly in our community
A.Far from it B.Take care C.Don’t mention it D.Forget it
Far from it 远非如此;Take care 保重;Don’t mention it 不客气;Forget it 算
D 选项“Forget it”表
2.________ he’s nearly 80 years old, he is still very active.
A.Because B.Although C.Unless D.Until
3.—Miss Hu, I haven’t seen you for a long time.
—Yes, I ________ as a volunteer nurse in Shanghai for a month. I came back yesterday.
A.am working B.worked C.have worked D.work
根据“I came back yesterday.”
4.It seems that we can’t live on the moon recently, for there’s no water ________ no air on the
moon.
A.but B.or C.so D.and
【答案】D
【知识点】and、so(这样 pron.)、并列连词辨析
but 但是;or 或者;so 因此;and 和。根据“for there’s no water ... no air on the
moon”可知表示“没有水也没有空气”,用“and”连接并列主语,若用 or 则需用 no water or air
结构。故选 D。
5.The ground is wet. There _________.
A.maybe rain B.maybe rainy C.may be rainy D.may be rain
【答案】D
【知识点】There be、may 表示推测
考查情态动词 may 的用法及 There be 句型。
名词 rain 或形容词 rainy 连用,所以排除选项 A 和 B;“There may be+名词”表示“可能有某物”,
所以空处应选 may be rain。故选 D。
6.—There is no ________ that Linda will get first prize in the singing competition.
—Yes, she sings most beautifully of all, I think.
A.request B.process C.need D.doubt
根据空格前的“There is
There is not doubt that...“毫无疑问……”,故选 D。
7.The Chinese idiom “To rise with the rooster” tells us ________.
A.what can we learn from the rooster B.that we can’t be too hard-working
C.how we can be like the rooster D.why should we rise with the rooster
8.When I was a kid ________ your age, I tried out ________ our school football team.
A.at, in B.at; of C.of; for D.in; for
【答案】C
【知识点】at、for、in、of、介词辨析
at 在;in 在……里;of……的;for 为了。of one’s age“与某人同龄的”,try
out for“参加……选拔”,故选 C。
9.—How far is it from here to the station
—It’s ________ walk.
A.six minutes’ B.six-minutes C.six minutes D.six minute’s
【答案】A
故选 A。
10.Everyone thinks ________ necessary to remember the history of China because it’s of great
________.
A.that is; value. B.it; value C.it is; valuable D.that; valuable
根据“Everyone thinks…necessary to remember the history of China because
it’s of great….”可知,第一空为固定句型:主语+think it+形容词+to do sth.“认为做什么怎么样”,
it 为形式宾语,真正的主语为 to remember the history of China;第二空为固定搭配 be of+名

29.According to the ticket stubs, we can learn the following EXCEPT ________.
A.the costs of our trip B.our feelings at that time
C.the things we were doing D.the places we were visiting

Every day, people spend hours and hours on their phones and computers. 41 So
how can we keep a healthy relationship with digital devices (数字设备) in this fast-moving world
Anna Marsh, a professor of psychology at University of Toronto, tried not to use the digital
devices. 42 So she gives some advice on how to keep a healthy digital diet while using
technology.
First, we should care for our brains just as we care for our bodies by controlling (控制) the
digital intake. In fact, reducing (减少) our use of the devices is like eating less junk food. What we
need to do is to think about whether our heavily used apps and websites benefit our life or not.
D.And it seems impossible for most people to cut out screen time completely.
E.Reducing our use of our phone is not easy.

My Most Unforgettable School Competition
The spotlight pierced the darkness as I stepped onto the debate stage, my index cards
trembling in sweaty palms. For the English Debate Championship, our team had rehearsed daily
for two months, polishing arguments like precious stones.
Mid-debate, my mind blanked when countering the opponents. Panic surged until I caught
my teammate’s reassuring nod. Taking a deep breath, I improvised using previous research, voice
quivering yet persisting.
Though we placed second, the real victory was conquering stage fright. This experience
taught me that authentic success lies not in trophies, but in the courage to transform stumbles into
stepping stones. Now when challenges arise, I recall that electrifying moment when fear melted
into triumph.
