情感题:通过对话语气(如“I can’t believe this!”→失望)、动作(clenched fists→愤怒)推断。
(Who, What, When, Where, Why, How)总结主题。
比喻(如“her voice was a melody”→声音悦耳)强调情感渲染。
细节题占比约40%,侧重时间线、人物动机及环境描写作用;
推理题增加“情感变化”和“主题升华”类考点(如“Why did the boy smile at the end ”);
主旨题可能结合故事标题或结尾句考查深层寓意;
情节连贯性理解:训练“事件排序”和“因果链”分析能力;
情感敏感度:积累情感动词短语(如burst into tears, wear a forced smile);

Being True to Yourself Matters
Sarah often helped out at her dad’s restaurant, but today felt different—she was given the responsibility of serving customers.
Excited, yet nervous, she carefully carried a pork steak to Table 6. Her excitement quickly turned to anxiety (焦虑) when she saw Kassy, a popular girl from school sitting there with her friends. Feeling shy and afraid, Sarah hid herself behind the front desk to avoid being seen. Though an excellent student, Sarah often felt out of place among her wealthy classmates. She remembered how Kassy used to make fun of her and worried that others might do the same to her for working at a restaurant. When Sarah’s dad found her hiding, she didn’t know what to say. He suggested that she take a break.
Turning back to the kitchen, Sarah felt bad for letting her dad down. To her surprise, Hannah, one of Kassy’s friends, came over and said that she knew how mean (刻薄的) Kassy could be. She also praised Sarah for her hard work. Her comfort gave Sarah the strength she needed.
With confidence, Sarah returned to the dining area and brought the check to Kassy’s table. When Kassy tried to make fun of her, Sarah and Hannah did a silly “crab dance” and laughed together. As she crossed the dining room, Sarah realized she didn’t feel embarrassed. Whether Kassy liked her family’s restaurant or not, it didn’t matter.

Michael Packard is a professional diver. One day, he was swallowed (吞) whole by a whale. He stayed inside its mouth for dozens of seconds.
The whale, swimming off the coast of Provincetown, Massachusetts, US, then coughed Mr Packard out, according to a report.
Mr Packard, 56, was about 14 metres below the surface of the water as usual on Friday when the whale tried to turn him into breakfast, the Cape Cod Times reported.
“All of a sudden, I felt a huge push and the next thing I knew was it was completely dark.” Mr Packard said.
His first thought was that he had been snapped (猛咬) up by a great white shark. Mr Packard said he thought to himself, “This is it. I’m going to die.”
I thought to myself, “There’s no way I’m getting out of her. I’m done. I’m dead. All I could think of was my children—they’re 12 and 15 years old.”
But when he realized he could feel no teeth, he began struggling and felt the whale shaking his head in discomfort. Within 40 seconds the whale spat (吐出) him back into the ocean.
“I saw light,” Mr Packard said, “I can’t believe I got out of the situation.”
His boating pal, Josiah Mayo, pulled Mr Packard out of the sea, and rushed him to a hospital, where he was treated for soft-tissue (软组织) damage to his leg. Amazingly, Mr Parkard said he felt just fine after his remarkable getaway.

Main character in this chapter: “I”—Juli Baker(a teenage girl)
The next morning, I raced to the bus stop extra early and climbed the tree. I caught the sun rising through the clouds, sending stripes of fire from one end of the world to the other.
Then I heard a noise below. I looked down, and parked right below me were two trucks. There were four men standing around talking, and I almost called down to them, “I’m sorry, but you can’t park there…That’s a bus stop!” Just at that time, one of the men reached into the back of a truck and started taking out tools. Gloves. Ropes. A chain. And then chain saws(电锯). Three chain saws. Then one of the kids who rides the bus showed up and started talking to them, and pretty soon he was pointing up at me.
One of the men called, “Hey! You’d better come down from there. We’re going to take this thing down.”
I held on to the tree tightly(牢固地), because suddenly it felt as though I might fall. I managed to cry out, “The tree ”
“Yeah, now come on down.”
“But who told you to cut it down ”
“The owner!” he called back.
“But why ”
“Because he’s going to build himself a house, and this tree is in the way. Now come on, girl, we’ve got work to do!”
By that time most of the kids had gathered for the bus. They weren’t saying anything to me, just looking up at me and turning from time to time to talk to each other. My heart was crazy with fear. I couldn’t leave and let them cut down the tree! I cried, “You can’t cut it down! You just can’t!”
One of the men shook his head and said, “I am this close to calling the police. Now are you going to come down or are we going to cut you down ”
The bus was three blocks away. I’d never missed school for any reason other than illness, but I knew in my heart that this time was different. “You’re going to have to cut me down!” I cried. Then I had an idea. They’d never cut it down if all of us were in the tree. “Hey, guys!” I called to my classmates. “Get up here with me! They can’t cut it down if we’re all up here!”
One by one, the kids just shook their heads and got on the bus.

情感题:通过对话语气(如“I can’t believe this!”→失望)、动作(clenched fists→愤怒)推断。
(Who, What, When, Where, Why, How)总结主题。
比喻(如“her voice was a melody”→声音悦耳)强调情感渲染。
细节题占比约40%,侧重时间线、人物动机及环境描写作用;
推理题增加“情感变化”和“主题升华”类考点(如“Why did the boy smile at the end ”);
主旨题可能结合故事标题或结尾句考查深层寓意;
情节连贯性理解:训练“事件排序”和“因果链”分析能力;
情感敏感度:积累情感动词短语(如burst into tears, wear a forced smile);

Make your life into a giving. When I say a giving, it is not easy to understand as an act. Giving as an act is a cheat because, after all, what can you give Everything that we have, including this body, we have taken from earth.
I became witness (见证人) to a certain state (状态) of giving at a very early age — my great-grandmother who lived to be 113 years of age. In the morning, if she had breakfast, she would always go and give away at least two-thirds of it to the ants and birds, particularly to the ants. People would say, “She is throwing all her food around, this old woman will die without eating.” But they all died while she lived. There were many days where I saw her with a little bit of breakfast that was left on her plate. She would simply sit there, watching the ants eat. When somebody asked, “Won’t you eat ” she would say, “I’m full. I’m already full.” It was many years later that I realized her way of doing with the world. If the ants ate, she was happy. Michael Packard is a professional diver. One day, he was swallowed (吞) whole by a whale. He stayed inside its mouth for dozens of seconds.
