Around our house, we make sure a small lawn (草坪) space remains green by watering regularly (定期地). I live in an area with a very large garden. There are many fruit trees 21 here along with many plants and lots of grass. That leads to the flying beauties—the birds visiting the space regularly. At first sight, the garden appears (似乎) very 22 , but in fact, many birds live in it or visit it quite often, singing happily. Some people keep birds in cages to listen to their songs, but I say it is far better for the birds to live 23 .
Every morning I am woken up by the wonderful 24 of a magpie-robin (鹊鸲). The sound is so sweet and I lie in bed listening to the songs 25 the bird flies away. Small plants and bushes provide good 26 for insects and very small birds, while larger trees will attract (吸引) visits from more birds. They come to sing, rest a bit or look for food. So it is always a 27 to see them. I just sit quietly and watch them go about their business.
It’s easy to attract birds to your 28 no matter how small and close it is to a city. I have seen the spotted-dove, pigeon and even other little birds that are too unusual for me to 29 . They sing, dance and 30 their beautiful colours. It is quite a treat. On the other hand, those little sparrows are so naughty that they come into the house to steal food.

三、阅读理解
A 2-year-old boy is being talked about as a hero after using FaceTime to save his mother after she was badly hurt.
According to a report from KGUN, Laura Toone was trying to break up a fight between a foster dog and one of her own dogs when the foster dog bit part of her middle finger almost completely off.
Toone tried to dial (拨打) 911 herself, but her hands were too bloody (流血的) to make the call.
“I begged my daughters to call 911. They’re 4 and they were very afraid to even touch the phone, because it was covered in my own blood, ” Toone told KGUN.
The mother continued to lose blood and thought she was going to lose consciousness (意识) until her 2-year-old son Bentley came with a towel from the kitchen. After wiping some of the blood off his mother’s iPhone, Bentley went on to use FaceTime, a video chat app, to call Toone’s friend Connie Guerrero.
“Something inside of me just told me that I needed to answer this FaceTime. All I could see was his little forehead, and I said ‘Hi Bentley’ and it was quiet for a while. And then I heard Laura screaming, ” Guerrero told KGUN.
Guerrero then called 911, and Bentley even opened the door to let firefighters into the house. Toone told KGUN she was very thankful for her little hero and had taught all of her children how to dial 911.

Nowadays, many people drive to work now. So there are lots of cars in the streets and the traffic is very busy. Sometimes, it’s not easy for you to get to work on time. When you are going to be late, you may dream of taking a plane there. Can your dream come true Yes! You can take a plane only in months!
Four people in Germany are interested in making planes and they are working on a new plane—Lilium Jet. It doesn’t look like a plane but an egg. Many people think it looks funny and interesting. The fun “egg” can take two people to the sky and “run” about three hundred kilometers an hour. That’s really great.
Some people also call Lilium Jet a “flying car”. Why Firstly, you can drive it like driving a car. But it can go faster and farther than a car. Secondly, Lilium Jet is not very big, as small as a car. So it doesn’t need an airport. Only a small area is OK. It can even take off (起飞) from a garden and stop everywhere.
Then is it safe to drive the “flying car” Of course yes! Some people have tested it many times. “It’s really cool to see Lilium Jet fly to the sky. Everyone should have a try,” says one of the makers. In the future, Lilium Jet will come into people’s life and change our ways of going out.
Maybe you can buy one if you want to make your trip easy and interesting. I’m sure you will have a good time on it.

Every morning, students pass their homework through different hands, from their class representative (课代表) to the teacher. Can it be easier
Zhang Xirui from Shenzhen Gezhi Academy in Guangdong got a good idea. He made a useful tool—a smart homework collection (收集) robot. This made him win the first prize in the 20th Guangdong Provincial Children’s Invention Awards.
This robot uses RFID (射频识别) technology to help collect students’ notebooks. Each student’s notebook has a special RFID tag (标签) with the name and the subject. Students only need to put their notebooks on the robot, and the machine “sees” the notebook, reads its tag and takes it out of the name list. “Teachers can find out who doesn’t hand in homework by using a phone APP.” Zhang Xirui said.
The robot is the second-generation (第二代) model made by Zhang. Now, he’s planning to make a third-generation robot and hopes it can read lots of RFID tags from far away. That means if there is a special tag on your notebook, the robot can quickly read the information of the notebooks. Zhang believes AI is the key to make life easier for us.

Being helpful is one of our traditional virtues.
One day, my classmate, Jane, had to give a speech, but she was very nervous and didn’t know how to start. I decided to encourage her. I practiced the speech with her several times, giving her tips and helping her gain confidence. On the day of the speech, she performed very well and was very happy. Seeing her smile, I felt so happy and proud.
Helping others not only made her day better but also gave me a sense of satisfaction and joy.
