第四部分 写作
第一节
Last Friday, our school organized a visit to a food factory for us students with the goal of learning about food processing and food safety procedures.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The director then gave a brief introduction to the history of the factory. After that, we were shown around the factory, where we observed how mooncakes were made. At the end of the visit, we were invited to taste the freshly made mooncakes.
The activity was well-received by all the students. Not only did it provide us with insight into the traditional food-making process but it allowed us to appreciate the hard work and skill involved in creating these delicious treats. We hope our school will arrange more such informative activities in the future.
第二节
Paragraph 1:
About two weeks later, on a sunny morning, a package arrived at the doorstep of the Hatton's. The moment they saw the famous Future World logo on the box, a glimmer of hope sparked within them. "Leilani must be over the moon when she sees Jofli," Cullen thought. So she decided to surprise Leilani and let her open the parcel. Later, opening it with trembling hands, Leilani's face lit up like a thousand stars. Cullen told her that a princess found it for her, and she believed it with all her heart. The teddy had always been important to her, so she was extremely delighted.
Paragraph 2:
Leilani held the beloved teddy bear tightly to her chest as if afraid it might disappear again. Then, she turned to her family, her eyes full of gratitude and love. "Thank you for this wonderful surprise," she said. Moreover, Leilani couldn't wait to share her joy with her friends. Proudly, she took it to school for a show-and-tell presentation, excited as she recounted her amazing story. And she even wrote an adorable thank-you note to Future World, saying, "Dear Princess, thank you for finding Jofli. Love, Lani."
Text 10
British people spend more time watching TV, playing games, and using mobile phones and computers than sleeping. Research by a communication agency has found that Britons use technology for 30 minutes longer than they sleep. The average UK adult uses technology for 8 hours and 45 minutes a day. Many people are on the phone or online while watching television. Watching television is the most popular activity. Adults watch an average of three hours a day. People understand digital technology most when they are 14 or 15. Technology is changing the way people communicate. Scientists warn that we are becoming more antisocial. They say we are moving away from face-to-face conversations because of technology. They add that people are becoming dependent on their smartphones. Technology also means people are working at home after they finish work and get home.2025届高考热点核心卷

New Yorker writer Kyle Chayka came of age alongside the internet. As a teen, he published his own blog and joined forums (论坛) for the Dave Matthews Band. He discovered one of his favorite jazz songs—John Coltrane's full version of "My Favorite Things"—driving around at night, listening to the local radio station.
Chayka misses this time—and the ways, then, that personal discoveries like these were made. In his new book, Filter World: How Algorithms (算法) Flattened Culture, Chayka says he never would have fallen in love with Coltrane's song if he'd heard it on Spotify, an online music streaming service. He says he doubts Spotify's algorithm would even suggest it, because the song is so long. And that, even if it did, he wouldn't have learned anything about Coltrane as an artist, because the Spotify interface doesn't provide the same context that a radio DJ does, sharing details between songs. The person behind the song choice, he argues, made his emerging interest in Coltrane possible in a way modern recommendation systems cannot.
This is one of many "back in my day" stories Chayka uses to illustrate his argument that algorithms have "flattened culture". Thanks to recommendation, generators like Netflix's top picks and Spotify's autoplay suggestions, "the least troublesome and perhaps least meaningful pieces of culture are promoted," Chayka argues. He admits that quality is subjective when judging these things, and instead argues that recommendation systems undermine personal taste. Taste, he writes, was once a combination of personal choices and popular influence—but now algorithms rely more on choices of the masses. Developing taste requires effort and active engagement, but what we see now are algorithms turning taste into consumerism.
A central point of the book, in fact, is that people today are not only well aware of the power of algorithms, but they can't escape them. He interviews a young woman who wonders if "what I like is what I actually like," worried that her taste is so shaped by algorithms that she can't trust herself. The book may be most useful in these sections, where Chayka and his interviewees attempt to make sense of how internet algorithms have shaped their own lives and work.
24. Why does Chayka tell his own experience in his book
A. To promote his new book. B. To attract readers' attention.
C. To explain the background. D. To support his opinion.
25. What is the book Filter World: How Algorithms Flattened Culture mainly about
A. How early internet shapes our culture.
B. How technology influences our personal taste.
C. How social media changes our view of reality.
D. How digital platform redefines mass consumption.
26. What is Chayka's attitude towards modern recommendation systems
A. Ambiguous. B. Favorable. C. Tolerant. D. Critical.
27. What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph
A. Show the highlights of the book.
B. Comment on the structure of the book.
C. Summarize the main arguments.
D. Praise Chayka's writing styles.

Lizards that once resided in forests but now hang around urban areas of Puerto Rico have genetically morphed (变化) to survive life in the city, researchers have found.
The Puerto Rican crested anole, a brown lizard with a bright orange throat fan, has sprouted special scales (鳞片) to better cling to smooth surfaces such as walls and windows, scientists say. "We are watching evolution as it's unfolding," said Kristin Winchell, a biology professor. As urbanization intensifies around the world, it's important to understand how organisms adapt and humans can design cities in ways that support all species, Winchell said.
The study analyzed 96 Anolis lizards, comparing the genetic makeup of forest-dwellers to those living in Puerto Rico's capital. Scientists found that 33 genes within the lizard genome were repeatedly associated with urbanization.
"You can hardly get closer to a smoking gun," said Wouter Halfwerk, an evolutionary ecologist who was not involved in the study. He said he was excited that the scientists were able to detect such a clear genomic signature of adaptation: "The ultimate goal within the field of urban adaptive evolution is to find evidence for heritable traits and their genomic architecture. "
The changes in these lizards, whose life spans are roughly seven years, can occur quickly, within 30 to 80 generations, enabling them to escape from predators and survive in urban areas, Winchell added. The larger limbs, for example, enable them to run more quickly across a hot parking lot, and the special scales to hold onto surfaces far more smooth than trees.
The study focused on adult male lizards, so it's unclear whether females are changing in the same way or at the same rate as males, and at which point in a lizard's life the changes are occurring. Halfwerk, whose own research showed how one frog species changed its mating call in urban areas, said scientists should look next for possible constraints (限制) on the evolutionary response and how morphology relates to mating behavior.
28. What do researchers find about lizards in the study
A. Lizards evolve to adapt to the human cities.
B. Lizards are not capable of surviving in the urban areas.
C. Lizards have a negative impact on smooth surfaces of modern buildings.
D. Lizards no longer have natural habitat in forests as a result of urbanization.
29. How did the researchers conduct the study
A. By analyzing previous research data.
B. By comparing different lizard species.
C. By citing the famous scientists' words.
D. By studying Anolis lizards in urban and natural areas.
30. What was Wouter Halfwerk's attitude toward the study
A. Favorable. B. Tolerant. C. Indifferent. D. Doubtful.
31. What can we learn from the last paragraph
A. All frog species have changed its mating call in urban areas.
B. Only adult male lizards evolve to have larger limbs and special scales.
C. Halfwerk will continue to study how morphology relates to mating behavior.
D. The future study might focus on the limitations on the evolutionary response.
D
Five times stronger than steel, spider silk's unique qualities were recognised by the Ancient Greeks—and more recently, scientists have looked at applications from medicine to engineering.
Now, one Japanese startup, Spiber, is exploring how spider webs could transform the clothing industry. The biotech company started by making a spider-silk-like material in the lab and has since expanded its fabric range to include more sustainable alternatives to wool and cashmere, says Kenji Higashi, head of business development at Spiber.
Spiders create webs by giving out liquid protein that will later change into silk. Kazuhide Sekiyama and Junichi Sugahara, Spiber's founders, decided to create a material that is identical to spider silk. They studied "thousands of different spider species," as well as other silk-producing species, and collected a database of silk varieties.
Having successfully produced the spider silk alternative, the team went on to develop a range of fabrics by changing the protein order. Spiber's fibers are made by fermenting (发酵) water, sugar and nutrients with specially modified microbes (改良微生物) in steel tanks to produce protein polymers to be made into a fiber. Later, the team discovered that the spider silk alternative shrinks (收缩) when wet, so they modified the protein to get a fiber with desirable properties, such as water proof and increased strength, which is suitable for an outdoor jacket.
Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world. It produces around 2.1 billion metric tons of CO2 every year. Higashi says Spiber's biodegradable products are predicted to generate just one-fifth of the carbon emissions of animal-based fibers once they are in mass production. And it is now developing a process that will transform abandoned clothes made from natural materials like cotton into the sugars needed for fermentation.
Currently trying to expand its production and getting ready for a full commercial launch of its products, Spiber hopes its technology will help to "solve some of the big global challenges that we're facing," says Higashi.
32. What is a primary purpose of Spiber's research in the lab
A. To develop new applications of spider silk.
B. To invent a replacement for spider silk.
C. To transform the structure of spider silk.
D. To study silk-producing spider species.
33. How did the team address the shrinking problem
A. By adapting the protein. B. By diversifying microbes.
C. By wetting the fiber. D. By lengthening fermenting time.
34. What can best describe Spiber's products
A. Fancy and stylish. B. Costly yet profitable.
C. Strong and sustainable. D. Lightweight yet resource-consuming.

Five-year-old Leilani Hatton of Darlington recently kicked off an attractive family trip to Future World in Orlando, Florida. This journey was long-awaited and filled with countless dreams and expectations.
Grandma Lynne Cullen, 63, had a warm smile on her face throughout. Leilani took her "journey of life" bear, named Jofli, everywhere. This bear comes with an online journal where owners can document their adventures. Leilani carried it everywhere with her, collecting all the famous princesses' signatures. They have photographs of her with this bear and all the famous princesses. The pure joy on her face in those pictures was something they would cherish forever.
One fateful day during the trip, as the sun was setting and the family returned to their hotel, tired yet happy after a day filled with magical experiences, they were faced with a heart-wrenching realization—the precious bear was missing. Panic immediately seized the family. Leilani's eyes welled up with tears as she hurriedly searched through her bags and around the room. The family searched every corner of the hotel room, retraced their steps along the pathways they had taken that day, and questioned every staff member they came across, but all in vain.
With heavy hearts and a sense of helplessness, the family had to leave Future World and return to Darlington without Jofli. Leilani would often lie in bed at night, thinking about her beloved teddy bear and the memories they had shared.
The employees there, driven by kindness and a commitment to creating magic, spared no effort in their search. They combed (搜寻) through the lost and found bins, examined security footage, and inquired around the parks. Somehow, they managed to piece together the clues and identify the bear as Leilani's. They kept searching and searching...
