1.“Sb. be overwhelmed / overcome with + 情感” :
这种句式用于描述人物由于某种强烈的情感而难以自抑。例如,“He was overwhelmed with joy when he heard the good news.”(当他听到这个好消息时,他高兴得难以自抑。)
2.“情感 + be written on his face” :
意味着脸上布满了某种情感,让旁人一眼就能看出。比如,“His anxiety was written on his face as he waited for the result.”(他在等待结果时,焦虑写在脸上。)
3.“a wave of + 情感 + flashed across his face” :
表示脸上划过某种情感,通常是瞬间的、较为强烈的反应。例如,“A wave of anger flashed across his face when he was accused unfairly.”(当他被不公平地指责时,脸上闪过一丝愤怒。)
4.“Sb could feel + 情感 + welling up inside him” :
用来表达人物内心感到某种情感在涌上来。例如,“She could feel a sense of sadness welling up inside her as she watched the sad movie.”(她在看这部悲伤的电影时,内心感到一股悲伤涌上来。)
5.“A slight feeling of + 情感 + crept on him” :
强调一种微妙的情感慢慢地爬上心头。例如,“A slight feeling of nervousness crept on him before the interview.”(在面试前,一种轻微的紧张感慢慢袭上他的心头。)
6.“His heart was leaping / pounding with + 情感” :
用于描述因为某种情感而心跳剧烈,常见的情感有害怕、紧张、激动等。例如,“Her heart was pounding with excitement when she met her idol.”(当她见到自己的偶像时,因激动而心跳加速。)
7.“hear the + 情感 + in one's voice; see the + 情感 + in one's eyes” :
表示听到某人的声音里有某种情感,或者看到某人的眼睛里有某种情感。例如,“I could hear the disappointment in his voice when he talked about the failure.”(当他谈论这次失败时,我能听到他声音里的失望。)“She saw the determination in his eyes as he made the decision.”(当他做这个决定时,她从他的眼睛里看到了决心。)
这些句式既可以单独成句,也可以运用独立主格结构,比如 “I lowered my head, a wave of sadness welling up inside me.”(我低下头,一股悲伤涌上心头。)

喜 :joy(快乐)、delight(开心)、pleasure(愉悦)

Mr. Birkway was my English teacher, and when I met him on that first day in my new school, I didn’t know what to make of him. He was one of those energetic teachers who loved his subject half to death and walked about the room dramatically, waving his arms and patting (轻拍) people on the back.
He said, “Brilliant!” and “Wonderful!”and “Terrific!” He was quite tall and slim, and his bushy black hair made him look like a wild native at times. He had deep brown cow eyes that sparkled (闪耀) all over the place, and when he turned these eyes on you, you felt as if his whole purpose in life was to stand there and listen to you, and you alone.
Midway through the first class, Mr. Birkway asked if we had our summer journals. I hadn’t a clue as to what he was talking about. Some of the other students started nodding like crazy, and Mr. Birkway spread out his arms and said, “Wonderful!” He received the journals excitedly. “Thank you,” he said to each journal-giver.
I was extremely worried. I had no journal.
When he got to Beth Ann’s desk, Mr. Birkway lifted up her journal and looked inside. “I didn’t write much,” Ann said. “In fact, I can hardly remember what I wrote about at all.”
“Don’t worry about it too much,” Mr. Birkway said with a smile. “Next time, try writing about something you like-a place, a room, a person. Just write whatever comes to mind.” Then he moved on.
On top of Mary Lou’s desk were six journals. Mr. Birkway stood open-mouthed and said, “Is it — can it be — Shakespeare ” He counted the journals. “Six! Brilliant!”
Christy and Megan, two girls who had their own club called the GGP (whatever that meant), were whispering over on the other side of the room and casting disapproving looks in Mary Lou’s direction. Mary Lou kept her hand on top of the journals as Mr. Birkway reached for them. In a low voice she said, “I don’t want you to read them.”

One possible version:
“What ” Mr Birkway said. “Not read them ” The whole room was silent. Mr. Birkway picked up Mary Lou’s journals before she could even blink. He said, “Don’t worry, your thoughts are safe with me. Brilliant! Thank you!” Mary Lou sat down in her chair. Mr. Birkway went around the whole room getting people’s journals. Phoebe was sending me little messages with her eyebrows that indicated that she was not too pleased either. I think they were all hoping that Mr. Birkway was not actually going to read these journals.
By the time Mr. Birkway got to my desk, my heart was beating so hard that thought it might jump straight out of my chest. Looking sad and nervous, I explained to him I was new and that I didn’t know about the journals. “Not to worry!” Mr. Birkway said. “I know you didn’t have a chance to write a journal.” Despite this, I tried to write one that night. I had a terrible time coming up with something to write about. I made a list of all the things I liked, but I ended up writing about my beloved mother. The next day, I handed in my story to Mr. Birkway, who said, “Brilliant!” as he put it with the other journals.

When my father doesn’t answer the phone, I don’t think anything of it. He’s 75 years old and doesn’t always want to talk.
This was what I told myself when I called him and he didn’t answer one Wednesday afternoon in January earlier this year. I was in Thailand for a trip. It’s sunny there but in Ohio, where my dad lives, it’s cold and snowy.
I tried calling my dad two days later. Again, no answer. I was starting to feel uneasy. Thankfully, I didn’t have enough time to worry because he immediately called back. But his voice was dry and weak. He said he had fallen down and had been on the floor for days. He was calling from the floor.
I immediately used another phone to call my sister Kristel. When she’s already in the car, I hung up with her and continued talking with my dad. I didn’t want to hang up, because I didn’t know if he had a heart attack or a stroke. What I did know was that I wished I wasn’t so far away.
My dad spent the next three days in the hospital. The doctors didn’t know what had happened. The tests they ran didn’t tell them anything because he was on the floor for too long.
Besides her work time, my sister was the one sitting next to my dad for hours in the hospital taking care of him. She had always been the one on the front line of his care but it’s becoming apparent that she’s burning out.
For most of my life, I’ve not taken on any kind of family responsibility. I’m the youngest. I studied abroad. I vacationed in faraway lands and I was always too busy to come home. But my sister Kristel, who is 10 years older than me, has always been responsible. As she grew up, she helped our parents on the farm. Ever since she was in high school, Kristel has always had multiple jobs. But when my dad fell and was rushed to the hospital, I decided to spend more time with him.

When I eventually arrived at the hospital, my dad was still lying on bed.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
At the moment, I promised to myself that I wouldn’t leave him until he recovered.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
When I eventually arrived at the hospital, my dad was still lying on bed. The ceiling was tall. Light was streaming in. It’s beautiful. But my dad was almost unrecognizable. He was thin and had really long beard. I didn’t let my concern show on my face. Instead, I gave him a kiss and immediately started to cut his beard. His face lit up and let me take care of him in a way I never had done before.
At the moment, I promised to myself that I wouldn’t leave him until he recovered. For the next two weeks, I became his full-time caretaker. Every morning after we woke up, we had coffee together. I walked him up and down the hallway of his apartment, and accompanied him to see doctors. When he’s deeply unmotivated, I would try my best to cheer him up. Due to the wave of my energy and confidence, my father soon recovered.

Rick, a ten-year-old boy, was constantly angry at everything around him. He always fought in school with the other kids. Once he had an outburst in school. Upset by something a classmate said to him, he pushed the boy, and a fight happened. When the teacher stepped in to break it up, Rick went crazy, throwing papers and books around the classroom and rushing out. His teachers couldn’t say anything that would comfort the kid. And the parents of his schoolmates were getting concerned. Rick was earning quite the reputation. After talking with school officials, Rick’s mom tried everything she could to calm Rick down.
She tried different methods until one day she came home with a canvas (画布) and paint. “What’s this ”, Rick asked. Rick’s mom handed over the painting equipment and said, “Whenever you feel angry, paint whatever you’re angry about instead of bursting out.” Rick wasn’t that happy about it but he gave it a try anyway. Over the next few weeks, the young boy created several artworks. They mostly showed disturbing images though. So his mom took all of the paintings and called Rick over so that they could talk about them. “Tell me, Rick. What are these paintings about ”
“Well, the first painting is about how some of the kids show off their new clothes and pencil cases. The next painting is about my teacher who keeps telling me about how I’m doing things wrong. And the last painting is about how one of my schoolmate’s father suggested that I change my attitude. All of them make me so angry.” Rick’s mom, in a calm voice, took Rick by her side and told him: “Don’t you see it, Rick ” “See what ” Rick asked. “You’re so angry at all of these things but not once did you try to understand why you’re getting so angry. What have all these people done to you, really ”

Rick knew it was time to change.

One possible version
Rick was lost in thought. It slowly dawned on him that people he was angry at had done nothing wrong. His classmates who showed their new clothes and pencil cases to others might just want to share their happiness with friends. His teacher did blame him because he was being a problem. And his schoolmate’s father was just trying to help him correct his mistakes. They had no intention to hurt him but he just let his unreasonable anger consume him and hurt them. How ridiculous he had been!
Rick knew it was time to change. From then on, Rick tried his best to control his temper. Every time he felt he was to explode, he would walk away and ask himself why he was angry and whether it was reasonable to be angry. Then he would find his peace and laughed his anger away. Gradually, everyone saw a different Rick. He no longer shouted at others or threw things away. He chatted with classmates after class and complimented their new clothes and pencil cases. He even helped teachers carry books before class sometimes. Rick’s change surprised everyone and they all felt happy for him.
