(2024·浙江·中考真题)Every year, lots of animals around the world go on migrating (迁
徙 ) journeys. Some need to find food, others are looking for somewhere to produce and raise
their young. Migrations can be long and difficult for animals, but new research on birds has found
that farmland along the way can help their progress.
In spring, hundreds of thousands of birds living near Lake Poyang, in China, fly north to
Siberia, Russia. On the way, they find places to stop and eat to keep their energy levels up for the
long journey. Some birds, such as geese, eat young grass that starts to grow at the beginning of the
season. This food can last for only a few weeks. And rising temperatures caused by climate
change can sometimes make the grass grow earlier than usual. This means that some birds are
arriving too late to eat the grass. As more land is used for farming, the natural wetlands where
birds like to search for food are disappearing, too.
A team of researchers have recently chosen to follow 246 birds, including geese and tundra
swans, that are flying from Lake Poyang to Siberia. They find that the birds have changed their
diets to adapt (适应) to the environments they pass through. As well as eating grass from the
wetlands along the way, the birds are also eating seeds (种子) dropped by farmers.
The researchers believe that seeds will become a more important part of migrating birds’
4
diets as more natural wetlands disappear. They suggest that if farmers use different ways of
harvesting, such as using machines that leave behind more seeds in fields, it could help to feed
migrating birds. However, they also say wetlands must be protected, so the birds can enjoy
different foods during their long journeys.

10.How do the birds adapt to the environments they pass through
A.By changing their diets.
B.By changing the way they fly.
C.By making their homes in wetlands.
D.By making fiends with farmers.

(2023·浙江杭州·中考真题)Cyclocross is cross-country bicycle racing. Racers spend
only part of a race on their bikes because only part of the two-mile race is smooth. Other parts of
the race have the challenge of obstacles (障碍). When racers reach them, they can ride over them,
or pick up their bikes and run.
To be a top racer, you must dismount without slowing down at all. To do this, swing your
right leg over the bike seat. At the same time, move the bike away from your body. This makes
room for your right foot to hit the ground next to your left foot. As your right foot nears the
ground, take your left foot away from the bike. Put both feet on the ground and start running!
As soon as you are running, you have to decide what to do with your bike. You may
shoulder it or lift it. It’s important to practice both skills. Sometimes you need to run fast and jump
over some obstacles. As your feet hit the ground, you reach down and catch the bottom of your
bike. Lift up carefully and keep the bike on your right shoulder while you run. Sometimes you
may lift your bike. You catch the top of your bike. Then you lift the bike high enough to get over
the obstacles and carefully put the bike on the ground.
10
After you have carried your bike across an obstacle, you will need to remount. As soon as
your bike is on the ground, push off with your left leg, swing your right leg over the bike seat, and
move into riding position. Remounting can be the hardest skill of cyclocross. You can learn by
watching someone who remounts well.

(2024·浙江台州·一模)A wooly (羊毛的) coat and a head of human hair have more in
common than you might think. Both include keratin fibers (角 蛋 白 纤 维 ) and both provide
warmth. A European company, Human Material Loop, is now questioning why one is worn and
the other is wasted. They want to change the clothing industry by turning human hair into a fabric
(织物).
13
Every year, Europeans produce 72 million kilograms of human hair waste. When hair waste
breaks down in a rubbish bag, it gives off greenhouse gases (气体). Many countries burn this
waste, but that’s not environmentally friendly, either.
Zsofia Kollar, who started Human Material Loop, explains that using the hair fabric is not
that different from using any other material. Short and broken hairs are made into fabric and
colored. Human Material Loop’s first product was a sweater. It had a wool-like feel. The company
has also made an outdoor coat and shown its ability to keep the wearer warm. These clothes are
not for sale, though. The company’s purpose is to get the attention of clothing companies. It hopes
that one day they will buy its hair fabric to make their own clothes.
Kollar understands that most people aren’t ready to wear human hair on their bodies. They
may find the idea strange. But historically, Kollar points out, human hair has been used as a fabric
in many cultures. In the 13th century, for example, people in what is now the southwestern United
States used human hair to make socks. “There is much work to do to get people to accept hair
fabric,” Kollar says. “But I can see it coming more and more into our daily lives, over time.”
31.What do a wooly coat and human hair have in common
A.They both have keratin fibers. B.They are both cheap and useful.
C.They can both keep people cool. D.They are both good for environment.
32.What does the underlined word “it” refer to in paragraph 2
A.The fabric. B.The hair waste. C.The wooly coat. D.The rubbish bag.
33.What can we learn from paragraphs 3 and 4
A.Using human hair fabric is very different from using others.
B.The sweater made of hair by Human Material Loop sells well.
C.Most people think it smart to wear human hair on their body.
D.Human hair was used as a fabric hundreds of years ago.

(B)On social media platforms such as Xiaohongshu, we’re seeing more posts with the
tag lines “I will listen” and “listen to me.” A puzzled person may have trouble deciding on
where to go on a vacation, which restaurant offers the best seafood or whether Huawei’s Mate
60 is a better buy than the iPhone 15. Write a post titled “I will listen” and it’s likely that a
warm-hearted person will quickly reply with a suggestion.
18
Now, the problem is, should you follow the advice of a complete stranger Is his or her
advice true or is it just a personal opinion Opinions, after all, are not facts—they are just
personal judgments. Still, it’s important to take different voices into consideration.
Whenever I buy something online, I always read the comments (评论) posted by the last
customers. If there are too many negative comments, I probably won’t consider buying it. On
the other hand, if all of the comments are unusually positive, my doubtful brain takes over and
I think the seller may be using comments to increase the sale of the product.
Apart from online business posts, other “listen-to-me” posts cause a more complex
problem. In these posts, people are often giving advice on traps (陷阱) and problems that could
trouble other people. Personal problems such as relationships, job choices and even mental
health are among the most common topics. Their suggestions may be truthful, but they don’t
necessarily fit in with the special situation of others.
For these big “topics”, it’s better to talk to friends, families, teachers and professional
experts. Those people who are close to you know and care about you and will stay by your side,
unlike an online poster you may never hear from again.
The Internet is like a great “shop” for getting and exchanging information. But, as with
any shop, let the buyer be more careful.
43.What mainly influences our deciding on products online according to the passage
A.The sales of products. B.The opinions from customers.
C.The names of companies. D.The posters of shops.
44.How does the writer show his ideas about online shopping in Paragraph 3
A.By explaining the results. B.By telling stories.
C.By raising questions. D.By comparing differences.
45.What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 4 probably refer to
A.Suggestions. B.Topics. C.Problems. D.Posts.
46.In the writer’s opinion, it’s best to ________ when we shop online.
A.make decisions as the online posts suggest
B.communicate with the people who stay by our side
C.avoid sharing personal problems on the Internet
D.collect different opinions from different customers

As more land is used for farming, the natural wetlands where
3
birds like to search for food are disappearing, too.
The researchers believe that seeds will become a more important part of migrating birds’
diets as more natural wetlands disappear. They suggest that if farmers use different ways of
harvesting, such as using machines that leave behind more seeds in fields, it could help to feed
migrating birds. However, they also say wetlands must be protected, so the birds can enjoy
different foods during their long journeys.
8.Which can be a reason for animal migration according to Paragraph 1
A.Raising their babies. B.Enjoying the journey.
C.Sending food to others. D.Taking care of the old.
9.What problem might the birds meet when flying from Lake Poyang to Siberia
A.There is no grass growing along the way.
B.There is a sudden drop in temperature on the way.
C.Fewer natural wetlands are left for them to find food.
D.Some of the birds set out early and eat too much grass.
10.How do the birds adapt to the environments they pass through
A.By changing their diets.
B.By changing the way they fly.
C.By making their homes in wetlands.
D.By making fiends with farmers.
11.What can be the best title of the text
A.Stop killing, stop polluting B.Save water, save life
C.Bids help harvesting work D.Farms help migrating birds

may have the answer for you: Sir John Soane’s Museum. The museum is one of London’s
best-kept secrets, and it’s well worth a visit. Sir John, a great architect (建筑师), lived in London

during the 18th century (1753—1837), and the amazing thing is that his house is exactly the same
as he left it. In fact, visiting the house is just like stepping back in time.
There are three floors which are open to the public. You can start on the first floor. This was
Sir John’s work area. You can ask the guards about the paintings on the walls as they tell you
something about this family and life. And don’t worry about the guards as they are really nice and
helpful. Next, you can go downstairs to the ground floor. Here you can see his rich collection of
paintings. For example, there is a series (系列) of interesting paintings about 18th century life in
London. Now comes the last part, the underground floor. It’s full of thousands of valuable objects,
such as sculptures (雕 塑 ) and models of famous buildings from all over the world. Walking
around this part of the house is a bit like being on a treasure hunt, as you can find things hidden
away in secret corners. Anyway, you’ll have to go there yourself to see.

Alex nodded, agreeing to keep it a secret.
Later that afternoon, Sarah and Alex met their friend, Emily, in the neighborhood. Unable

(2024·浙江台州·一模)A wooly (羊毛的) coat and a head of human hair have more in
common than you might think. Both include keratin fibers (角蛋白纤维) and both provide warmth.
A European company, Human Material Loop, is now questioning why one is worn and the other is
wasted. They want to change the clothing industry by turning human hair into a fabric (织物).
10
in many cultures. In the 13th century, for example, people in what is now the southwestern United
States used human hair to make socks. “There is much work to do to get people to accept hair
fabric,” Kollar says. “But I can see it coming more and more into our daily lives, over time.”

Shoppers are attracted to the low prices, as well as the fact that buying second-hand is good for the

B.Topics. C.Problems. D.Posts.
14
46.In the writer’s opinion, it’s best to ________ when we shop online.
A.make decisions as the online posts suggest
B.communicate with the people who stay by our side
C.avoid sharing personal problems on the Internet
D.collect different opinions from different customers

(E)Our world is full of unsung real-life heroes, who show up in times of disaster at great
sacrifice to themselves, who raise funds to support those in need and who save lives. My sister
never talks about the pain she bears, neither does she talk about her achievements. So today. I
share this story, to praise my beautiful sister, an unsung hero.
Kim, my sister, , was born with a growth hormone deficiency (激素缺乏). From an early
age she received daily injections (注射) to help her grow. I didn’t know how she ended the pain.
Doctors said her brain wouldn’t develop normally and she wouldn’t do something. But she proved
them all wrong!
Kim’s volunteer work started at the age of nine in primary school. Every day Kim assisted
17
the special needs class during her lunch breaks. She helped entertain, feed the students and
continued her work with the children until she left primary school.
Because of her height, my sister would get pushed in the corridors (走廊), but that didn’t
stop her from helping others. Kim later trained as a youth worker at the local church and
eventually became a Sunday school teacher and the kids loved her.
As she grew into an adult, she continued to help people and even started a school holiday
program for disabled children, which has been running for twenty years. She used her yearly leave
to look after these children and refused to take money for it.
My sister constantly deals with hardships, reoccurring health problems and continuous
pains due to her condition. Yet, every morning she gets up, she never says “What can I take from
this world”. She says, “Thank you Lord. I am alive. I have air in my lungs—now how may I be of
service.” This is how she lives.
