(2025·吉林通化·模拟预测)At my primary school, I was one of the smartest kids there. I never studied, but always got perfect scores. I thought I was born clever. At least I believed so. I was also a prodigy in music according to myself. I could sing better than almost everyone else in my school, I was pretty sure that once I got to sixth grade, everyone would be surprised by me.
But actually, they weren’t. When I arrived at my new class, I couldn’t wait to show everyone what I could do. However, there was always someone else who could do them better. My grades began to suffer (变差). More talented girls often sang solo (独唱). I began to believe I wasn’t smart or talented. I even believed I was a failure.
Over the next two years, I had to work very hard. Every prize for the singing competition was given to me for hard work and effort. Grades were still very low but improving little by little. I worked really hard. However, I was never the best at everything.
I haven’t realized until recently that I really don’t have to be the best at everything. I was too hard on myself. In fact, when I did badly in a test, my classmates never laughed at me.
No one is perfect. There will probably always be someone better than me at something. Anyway, there are about seven billion people in this world. I will never be the number one at everything, and that’s really okay.

(2024·山东济南·模拟预测)Imagine you’re in a sci-fi (科幻小说) world, and you video-call your friend. You might see them in a three-dimensional (3D) way—or in holograms (全息影像). Although this isn’t possible in real life yet, researchers recently made holograms easier to create, said a new study.
To take a 3D photo of a person, most hologram technologies need special cameras. They record how the person looks from different angles under different lights. This information makes the hologram look lifelike. However, hologram can’t be widely used because they are difficult to make.
The researchers from Chiba University in Japan made a new computer program. It can turn normal pictures we take into 3D holograms.
Their program used a technology called deep neural networks (深度神经网络). First, it receives information from an image taken by a normal camera. It then predicts the depth of things in the image. For example, in a 3D photo, the background should be deeper than the person.
With all the information, the program creates a 3D hologram. But it can look strange at first. The program will then check the hologram to fix problem and make it look more real.
The program can be used to create holograms in VR headsets. For example, a user sends a picture, and the other user can see the “real” look of it in 3D.If it’s used in cars, this makes it easier for the drivers to see and thus makes sure that they won’t miss important information.
In the future, when holograms become more common, they can also help doctors. Medical students can learn quickly by looking at 3D images of the human body, and doctors can better understand a patient’s illness.
36.What does the new program make use of to create a hologram
A.A normal picture. B.A special camera.
C.Recordings from different angles. D.Recording under different lights.
37.Compared to the traditional technologies, the new program is ______ .
A.easier B.more expensive C.more natural D.more predictable
38.In what order does the new program work
a. Predict the depth of things in the photo.
b. Put out the final 3D hologram.
c. Receive a normal photo.
d. Put out an imperfect 3D hologram.
e. Process the 3D hologram again.
A.abcde B.acdeb C.cadeb D.cabed
39.How might holograms in cars benefit drivers
A.They make driving more enjoyable. B.Drivers will find road information easily.
C.They will help predict dangers and traffic. D.Drivers needn’t mind the cars behind.

A.Holograms might be used in medical fields.
B.Patients won’t suffer during treatment with holograms.
C.We can live in a 3D world earlier than expected.
D.Doctors won’t make mistakes anymore with holograms.

Since May 6, the school has introduced reclining chairs for students to nap during the lunch break. The trial run (试行) has been conducted (实施) across four grades, with over 100 sets provided for grade 9.

Now I choose to sleep 10 to 20 minutes earlier with the reclining chair,” said the 15-year-old girl. She added that the longer sleep time also helps her do better in her afternoon studies.
According to Xu Weimin, a sleep expert in Shanghai, lying down for a nap offers physical and mental benefits. “It can relax the muscles (肌肉) and improve blood flow to the brain,” Xu told Xinhua.

Sometimes we feel sad, sometimes we are fearful, and sometimes we just don’t understand why we can’t stay young forever. But we should take a look back on all the painful things in life with a positive attitude (积极的态度) and we should learn from them. We should realize that all of our growing pains actually turn into growing gains (收获)!
Throughout our lives we are going to face many challenges and pains, but we should never let these difficulties keep us from following our dreams. We must overcome them one small step at a time.
As a young girl, my parents asked me to do so many things that I didn’t like. They made me learn to play the violin and then the piano. At that time I hated music and I also hated them. But looking back now, I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to take music lessons. Music has enriched my life in so many ways. I now comprehend that my parents and teachers wanted me to have a better life.
We are all going to experience growing pains, but they are just part of our life. Think about how we would feel if we had no challenges and lived a life like that. Life would be really boring and meaningless. The future is ours! A little hard work and sweat (汗水) never hurt anyone!
