Why did the girl refuse
The project, which was funded
by the government, aims to...”
(Skimming)
(Scanning)
Although it rained, they
kept running”)。

In the heart of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, China, stands a magnificent palace—the Potala
Palace. The palace was built in 641 by Songtsen Gampo to honor (尊 敬 ) his wife—Princess
Wencheng of the Tang Empire. It stands there to remind both the Han people and the Tibetans of a

making and so on. Songtsen Gampo was so glad that he sent groups and groups of young Tibetans
to Chang’an, the capital of the Tang Dynasty to communicate with the Hans (汉人).

It’s a Chinese AI company founded (成立) by a man called Liang Wenfeng on July 17, 2023. The
team of researchers have studied in the top universities in China and have no oversea (海外的)

AGI).
On January 20, 2025, DeepSeek made a new AI called DeepSeek-R1. It can help people

world completely surprised, because it costs much less to build. It only took the team $5.58
million and 2, 048 computer chips (芯片), and two months to create it. This shows that good ideas
can beat big money. On its first day online, over 19, 000 programmers around the world started
projects to study it. Even Meta (a famous U. S. tech company) top scientist said, “This kind of free
AI could change the world.”

In the heart of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, China, stands a magnificent palace—the Potala
Palace. The palace was built in 641 by Songtsen Gampo to honor (尊 敬 ) his wife—Princess
Wencheng of the Tang Empire. It stands there to remind both the Han people and the Tibetans of a
beautiful story.
The story began with a 16-year-old girl, who was charming (迷人的), well-read and full of
imaginations of the faraway lands. She was Princess Wencheng in the Tang Dynasty.
Songtsen Gampo, the head of the Tubo Kingdom, wanted to build a good relationship with

her husband and his men Chinese language. She helped Tibetans to learn paper making, wine
making and so on. Songtsen Gampo was so glad that he sent groups and groups of young Tibetans
to Chang’an, the capital of the Tang Dynasty to communicate with the Hans (汉人).
Princess Wencheng lived in Lhasa for about 40 years. She had never left Tibet before. She

Yang Hongwei, 56, is an inheritor(传承人) of the Weifang kite-making technique(技艺).
Born into a kite-making family, Yang often saw kites with bright colors and different shapes in her
grandfather’s workshop.
Having a special connection with kites, Yang learned the technique from her grandfather at
the age of 16. After practising the technique for 10 years, she started her own shop in 1992.
“Many places around the world have a tradition of flying kites,” Yang said. “But I think the
cultural idea behind our kites is special.” So, she tries to make special kites with prints telling
Chinese stories. For example, she once made a kite with pictures of 50 famous women in Chinese
history on each side. Each woman is different in look, clothes and makeup. She spent much effort
and time checking historical records and discussing the details with experts(专家).
Besides, she also travels abroad to tell the stories of Chinese kites and the ways they are
made. Since the 1990s, she has been to many other countries, including Germany, Australia, the
US and New Zealand.
“It is an important job of mine to spread our traditional culture around the world and on to
the children. As long as there are people who want to learn, I won’t stop teaching”, she said.

2.What does Yang do to spread the traditional culture with kites

in1970 in a small village in North-west China’s Shanxi Province. Who hid it underground and

more about these shining cultural symbols.” Li added.
