Unit 1 What’s the matter
What’s the matter (with sb.)
What’s wrong (with sb.)
What’s the trouble (with sb.)
What happened (to sb.)
Are you OK
Is there anything wrong with sb.?
①某人+have/has+病症.
The twins have colds.
某人+have/has+a+headache/toothache/stomachache/backache/earache.
She had a stomachache last night.
③某人+have/has+a+sore+发病部位. He has a sore throat.
He hurt his leg.
⑤某部位+hurt(s).
My head hurts badly.
⑥某人+have/has+a pain+in one’s+身体部位, I have a pain in my chest.
⑦(There is)something wrong with one’s+身体部位.
There is something wrong with my right eye.
She has a heart trouble.
He got hit on the head.
She cut her finger.
You should drink hot water with honey.
Should I put some medicine on it
①Would you like (to do) sth.?
Would you like to play basketball with me
②Shall I/we do sth
Shall we go to the zoo tomorrow
③Why not do sth
Why not join us
④How/What about doing sth How about going swimming
⑤Let’s do sth让我们做... Let’s go home.
⑥You’d better (not) do sth你最好(不)要做某事。
You’d better not go there alone.
Unit 2 I'll help clean up the city parks
It +be+adj./n.+(for/of sb.) to do sth./It takes sb. some time to do sth.
C. 作(后置)定语——常用于“have/has+sth.+to do”或“enough+名+to do”“It’s time to do sth.”
D. 作宾语补足语——tell, ask, want, invite, teach, like, call等可接带to的动词不定式作宾语补足语,构成tell/ask/want /call/invite sb. to do sth.结构。
【注意】动词不定式作使役动词和感官动词的宾语补足语时应省去to:“一感(feel),二听(listen to, hear),三让(let, make, have,,四看(look at, see, watch, notice),半帮助(help)”。
+ to do sth.等。
F. 固定句式中动词不定式的用法 常见的形式有:had better (not) do sth./Would you like to do sth. /Why not do sth. /Would you please (not) do sth. 等。
Unit 3 Could you please clean your room
Could you please...
在日常生活中常使用could you/I...
Could you help me find my book, please
对could you/I...
Would you like to do... Would you mind doing... Let’s do.... Shall I/we do...
Please do...(祈使句前加please)
提示:could you please...与could I Please...
Could you please help me
Could I please invite my friends to my birthday party, Mom
Unit 4 Why don't you talk to your parents
How /what about doing sth.
You’d better (not) do something. “你最好(不)做某事”
Would you like sth … Let’s do sth…
What should I do …
Why don’t you do something =Why not do something
3. until, so that ,although
Don’t get off until the bus stops.
He studies hard so that he could work better in the future.
引导的从句不能与并列连词but,and, so等连用,但可以和yet, still等词连用。 例如:Although he was tired, he went on working

When I was a kid in Minnesota, watermelon was expensive. One of my father’s friends, Bernie, was a rich businessman, who owned a large store in St. Paul.
Every summer, when the first watermelons arrived, Bernie would call. Dad and I would go to Bernie’s place. We’d sit on the edge of the dock(码头), feet dangling(摇晃), and got ready for a big meal.
Bernie would take his knife, cut our first watermelon, hand us both a big piece and sit down next to us. Then we’d bury our faces in watermelon, eating only the heart—the reddest, juiciest, firmest, sweetest, most seed-free part—and throw away the rest.
Bernie was my father’s idea of a rich man. I always thought it was because he was such a successful businessman. Years later, I realized that it was not Bernie’s wealth itself but his way of dealing with it that my father liked. Bernie knew how to stop working, get together with friends and eat only the heart of the watermelon.
What I learned from Bernie is that being rich is a state of mind. Some of us, no matter how much money we have, will never be free enough to eat only the heart of the watermelon. If you don’t take the time to dangle your feet over the dock and enjoy life’s small pleasure, your work is probably hurting your life.
For many years, I forgot that lesson I’d learned as a kid on the loading dock. I was too busy making all the money I could.
Well, I’ve relearned it. I hope I have time left to enjoy the success of others and to take pleasure in the day. That’s the heart of the watermelon. I have learned again to throw the rest away.

2. How did the writer and his father eat the watermelon

A. was just a rich businessman B. worked hard all the time
C. lived a rich but healthy life D. knew how to make money
4. The underlined part “the heart of the watermelon” in the last paragraph refers to ______.
 A. the best part of the watermelon B. the writer’s busy life
 C. the writer’s decision of making money D. the writer’s hope of enjoying life
5. It can be learned from the passage that ______.
A.one has to work hard to reach his goal
B. a friend in need is a friend in deed
C.watermelon is the healthiest fruit
D.one should keep work-life balance(平衡)

In the summer between my first year and second year in college,I was invited to be an instructor (辅导员)at a high school camp.On the first day, when we were dancing and playing games,I noticed a boy under the tree who was small and thin. His shyness made him appear weak.I walked towards him, introduced myself and invited him to join in the activities and meet some new people. He quietly replied,"No,I really don't want to do this."I could understand that he was in a new world but I knew it wouldn't be right to force him, either.Actually, the boy didn't need a close talk but a friend.

Every year, millions of job hunters try their best to find a job they want. However, many of them fail, partly because they don’t have enough knowledge in dealing with job interviews(面试). Here are some of the suggestions that they should bear in mind when attending a job interview.
1. ______
When attending a job interview, try not to mention the family difficulty or trouble that you are facing right now, and focus on all the things that you are able to do in your future work.
2. ______
Before going to attend an interview, search for some information about the employees of that company: What kind of work are they mostly doing What kind of working clothes are preferred in their working conditions Are there any specific requirements or taboos for the clothes Prepare well and dress yourself properly in order to be considered professional at the first meeting.
3. ______
One of the biggest mistakes many job seekers make is that they don’t actually ask for the job. It might seem unnecessary. However, by asking for the job in the interview, the job seeker is sending a strong message to the employer that he or she is interested in the job and is enthusiastic about the opportunity. By saying “my main goal is to be working for you”, you are actually demonstrating the type of interest and enthusiasm that any employer would like to hear form a candidate.
4. ______
When asked about your former(先前的) work experience, keep your comments about your former boss or colleagues very positive. Even if your former working conditions were really bad or that you didn’t get on well with your boss or colleagues, you are still supposed not to bite behind their backs. Otherwise, the interviewers may have the feeling that you will gossip or speak ill of them once they become your employers.
5. ______
In a real world interview, the personal connection established with the interviewer (i.e., does he or she like you) could be the key factor in determining your employment fate. In an interview, this personal connection is often established within the first five minutes of the interview, and while a positive connection will not necessarily result in a job offer, a negative connection will almost always result in rejection. The lack of likability was a major reason behind the firing of many interviewees who were not able to make a positive impression on their interviewers.

Five tips for a successful yard sale
Each summer, yard sales become popular and many people come to yard to get great deals on second-hand objects. Have you ever had a yard sale What can you do to hold a successful yard sale Here are five tips for you.
____________
Every yard has its own advertisement. The best as is signs. Draw some big signs with just “Yard Sale” and a large arrow(箭头)on a board in front of your yard. Pointing customers(顾客) in the right way is always better than just putting your address on the sign and hoping they know how to get there.
____________
The more organized you are, the less busy it will be in the morning of your yard sale. You want to make sure that you have everything set up before people arrive so you can have more time for answering questions and collecting money.
____________
This is something a lot of people don’t think about when preparing for a yard sale. You don’t want to turn away customers because you don’t have enough change. I suggest at least $50 in change, which means mostly $1’s and $5’s
____________
Running a yard sale on your own can be really stressful, especially if you have a lot of objects to sell. It’s hard to run inside to go to the bathroom or try to talk to and collect money from several customers at once. Ask a friend or two if they have something they’d like to sell too and that way you’ll have some help in case things get busy or you need a break to get a drink or some food.
____________
Yard sales are fun and you can make a good amount of money. It’s also a good chance for you to chat with your customers, make them feel comfortable, and enjoy yourself.

4. The underlined part “the heart of the watermelon” in the last paragraph refers to ______.
 A. the best part of the watermelon B. the writer’s busy life
 C. the writer’s decision of making money D. the writer’s hope of enjoying life

At lunch the next day,I was leading camp songs when 1saw the boy under the tree sitting alone.I tried again with the same invitation, but he refused once again. That evening I was told the boy's name was Tommy. Then I asked the campers to pay special attention to the boy and spend time with him when they could.

In October of my second year,I received a phone call from Tommy's mother. She told me that Tommy was hit by a car and killed.I offered my deep sadness. The mother said:"'Tommy mentioned you so many times.I want you to know that he went back to school and made new friends with confidence. You made a difference for Tommy during his last months."
