One way to improve your English is to watch lots of English movies. By watching movies with native(本
地出生的) English speakers in them, you’ll pick up slang (俚语) that you don’t learn at school. What’s more,
listening to native speakers will help you improve your accent (口音) and also help train your ears. Here’s some
advice.
Choose a movie that interests you. Whether it’s the story or the actors that draw you to the movie,
watching a movie you enjoy will make you more likely to work hard to understand it. Choose a movie that will
provide you with useful vocabulary (词汇). If you’re learning English for business, watch a movie with the
theme of business. If you’re learning English to communicate with friends, try a comedy. If you’re learning
English in order to study abroad, watch a movie that is connected with your homework.
Watch each movie at least twice. When you watch a film for the second time, try not to see the English
words on the screen. Whenever you come across new phrases, watch the movie again to have a better
understanding of them and improve your pronunciation.
Use some online programs. Some online programs work with popular TV shows. As you watch a show on
your computer, you can use the program that it works with to help you understand difficult expressions used in
the show and translate the conversation.
If you follow the above ways when watching English movies, you’ll be sure to improve your English.
1.What cannot watching English movies help you to do according to Paragraph 1
A.Learn something that I may not learn at school.
B.Improve my spoken English.
C.Train my listening.
D.Get full marks in English exams.
2.If you plan to make foreign friends, what should you watch according to the passage
A.Action movies. B.Comedies.
C.Movies that are about schoolwork. D.Movies that have something to do with business.
3.What should you do when meeting with new phrases in a movie
A.Go back to see the movie again.
B.Talk with an English speaker about the phrases.
C.Find a teacher that can help me understand them.
D.Look them up in a dictionary.
4.Which of the following can show the structure of the passage
( ①= Paragraph 1 ②= Paragraph 2, .....)
A. B. C. D.
5.What’s the best title for the passage
A.How to improve your listening skills.

C.How to learn English by watching movies.
D.How to enjoy movies with native English speakers in them.

It was a perfect summer morning on the beach in Rio de Janeiro. A man set up his umbrella and chair near
the water and was ready to read his book. Just then, when he looked toward the sea, he noticed a small shape that
came out of the water. It slowly made its way out onto the sand and began to flap(拍 动 ) its wings. It was
obviously weak and tired.
When the creature was just a few feet away, the man couldn’t believe his eyes. A penguin Penguins don’t
belong to Rio. The man was amazed. He looked around to see if there was anyone else noticing this strange sight.
A jogger soon appeared, followed by another. They stopped and stared. It was clear that the penguin was
having trouble breathing. The first jogger looked at the sea and said, “Poor fellow, so far away from home.”
The penguin fell to its side. It had swum 2,000 miles, trying to find the tiny fish that penguins like to eat.
Why did the penguin need to travel so far Perhaps it was confused by moving ocean currents(洋流)and
temperatures—common effects of global warming. The penguin needed help. It would not survive on the hot
sand.
One of the joggers phoned for help, and soon some firemen arrived. The man was glad that the penguin
would soon be safe, although he felt a little sad, too.
The event on the beach at Rio happened some time ago. It was only the beginning of penguin migration(
迁徙) to Brazil. Since that time, hundreds of penguins have appeared on the coasts of Brazil. They come all the
way from Patagonia and the Straits of Magellan, southern parts of South America. They land on the sands very
tired and hungry, and many of them die. Some are shipped or flown back to colder waters farther south.

Everyone may feel angry at any time. It’s a common feeling. Some people cry when they feel angry and
some may shout. Unluckily, many of us have been used to hiding anger, A study suggests that this can have
long-term bad influences on our health.
Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry The study points out that when we
show our anger in this way, we can't probably get on well with our friends or our family. The more time we keep
being angry, the worse result we’ll get. So how can we deal with our feeling of anger in a right way
First, know what anger is. Anger is often caused by feelings of being too afraid, disappointment and so on.
Also, care more about those everyday things that will make us angry. For example, we may get angry in a
long line at the store. Take a step back and think that it isn’t personal. Everyone in the line has dinner to make,
just like us. Then we’ll feel better. Another way of dealing with anger is to talk about it. The study has shown
that if we name our feelings, we can slowly calm ourselves down.
Besides, take a deep breath or find some helpful exercise to do. Exercise helps deal with anger.
Remember that how we act when we are angry can make things better or worse. If we learn to deal with
anger we will be happier and healthier.

Driverless cars have developed rapidly in China nowadays. Recently, the news of “radish Run fast” (萝卜
快跑) has drawn wide attention. Driverless cars are becoming more common in many cities. It has become a hit
on social media.
Driverless cars can operate (操作) without a human driver. They can communicate with each other and
change their speed and direction as needed, possibly improving traffic conditions and even making traffic lights
needless as well. Another main advantage of driverless vehicles is that they reduce the number of accidents on
the road, so it will save hundreds and thousands of people’s lives.
However, there are still worries about whether driverless cars are safe for everyone on the road. Even
though they use smart technology to avoid dangers and control the car, they’re not perfect yet. In a recent
London test, a driver had to take control twice to avoid accidents.
There are a lot of challenges that need to be solved before we see traffic lights disappear. One of these
challenges is allowing driverless cars on the roads regularly, which requires solving many safety and technical
problems. Driverless cars need sensors (传感器), cameras, and computer systems to operate. However, making
these systems work effectively in all weather and road conditions is challenging.
People have mixed feelings about driverless cars. Some people, like Grant Schapps, believe they could be
a big deal if we can make them work safely. But some feel uncomfortable with the idea, and most want them to
be clearly marked on the road. Experts (专 家 ) think we might need new road signs just for driverless cars
because they may have difficulty moving through the roads with heavy traffic or unexpected situations.
In short, while driverless cars offer exciting possibilities, we must deal with many problems before they
become common on our roads.
1.What’s the purpose of Paragraph 1
A.To explain an idea. B.To introduce the topic.
C.To advise people to buy driverless cars. D.To tell people how to operate driverless cars.
2.How does the writer show driverless cars are not perfect now
A.By listing numbers. B.By asking a question.
C.By making comparison. D.By giving an example.
3.What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about
A.Safety of driverless cars. B.Problems of driverless cars.
C.Technology of driverless cars. D.Advantages of driverless cars.
4.What is Grant Schapps’ attitude (态度) about driverless cars
A.Positive. B.Uncertain. C.Worried. D.Doubtful.
5.What does the writer want to tell us
A.Think twice before acting. B.One tree can’t make a forest.
C.The early bird catches the worm. D.Actions speak louder than words.

On March 6, 2025, scientists in the USA made an exciting discovery. They created a special animal called
the Colossal Woolly Mouse by mixing DNA from modern mice and woolly mammoths (猛犸象). This was done
using gene-editing (基因编辑) technology. What is gene-editing then
Gene-editing helps scientists change parts of DNA.A tool called CRISPR-Cas9 acts like “scissors” to cut
and edit DNA.It can cut DNA at specific parts, remove unwanted genes, or add new ones. It can remove bad
genes, add new genes and help cure illness or improve crops. Scientists hope this technology can one day bring
back extinct animals like woolly mammoths and dodos (渡渡鸟).
However, this success also reminds us of a sad truth: ________. We pollute air and water, destroy forests,
and hunt too much. We take away animals’ homes. Many animals in the old days can’t be found in the earth now.
While scientists spend years trying to save just one animal that has died out, humans can harm thousands in a
short time.
What should we do We must protect the animals we still have instead of only depending on technology to
fix problems. Every species is important for a healthy planet. Let’s act now before it’s too late!

People have been using natural medicines for thousands of years.
Did you know, for example, that aspirin (阿司匹林) comes from the bark (树皮) of the willow trees In
the 5th Century BC the Greek doctor, Hippocrates, gave it to his patients to stop their pains.
In 1775, a British doctor William Withering was unable to treat a patient who had a serious heart problem.
However, the patient made a complete recovery (康复) after taking something a woman had given him. The
woman told the doctor she’d made the medicine from purple foxgloves. This natural medicine is still given to
people with heart problems because it makes your heart beat slowly.
Many of the most useful natural medicines can be found in our homes and gardens. Put some lavender oil
on your bed at night to help you sleep. Or open the leaves from an aloe vera plant and put it on your burns or cuts.
This will help them to heal (治愈). The Egyptian queen, Cleopatra, used this kind of amazing plant to keep her
skin soft and young-looking.

The rise of AI doctors is no longer a story from future films. It’s really happening now. In different areas
of China, we can clearly see how smart machines are bringing big changes to the medical field.
In February 2025, Beijing Children’s Hospital surprised many by using the country’s first AI doctor for
kids. This was a difficult medical case. An 8-year-old boy suddenly became very ill. The doctors couldn’t
explain why. They also found a tumour (肿 瘤 ) in his head. Thirteen top experts tried hard to find the best
treatment. At the same time, the AI quickly checked the boy’s health records and signs. It learned from lots of
data (数据) from over 300 child doctors. In just a few minutes, it suggested an operation plan that matched what
human doctors thought. What’s more, it could quickly find the newest medical studies, which helped to find the
problem faster.
In Shandong, a parent worried when their child had a high temperature. They tried DeepSeek. After
sharing blood test results, the AI said it was likely a germ infection (细菌感染) and advised medicine. Later, the
hospital doctor gave the same medicine, even the amount (剂量) was the same.
Even in places with fewer medical tools, like small clinics (诊 所 ) in Wuhan and country areas in
Shandong. AI is helping. In Wuhan, hospitals now use AI to study CT photos in less than a minute. Before, it
took hours. In country Shandong. AI systems help patients talk about their health problems, and even help
disabled people move around hospitals.
These examples show two key things AI can do: help top doctors make better decisions and make
healthcare easier for everyone. However, some still discuss its limits. As one doctor said, "AI gives ideas, but
human care and thinking are still needed."
1.How did AI help the boy in Beijing
A.Invented a new medicine. B.Taught medical tools use.
C.Replaced the human doctors. D.Suggested an operation plan.
2.Why did the Shandong parent trust AI
A.The AI was cheaper than hospitals. B.The doctor gave the same medicine.
C.The AI could make the child healthy again. D.The parent didn’t want to see a real doctor.
3.What does the example of Shandong villages tell us about Al
A.AI is only useful in big cities. B.AI helps patients in hospitals.
C.AI can make all medical tools. D.AI can work without the internet.
4.What is the doctor’s opinion about AI in the last paragraph
A.AI will replace human doctors completely. B.AI is useless without human thought.
C.AI provides ideas but needs human care. D.AI will solve all medical problems alone.
5.What is the main purpose of the article
A.To discuss how AI doctors replace human doctors.
B.To describe AI’s changes to medical care in China.
C.To talk about the problems AI caused in hospitals.
D.To list all kinds of diseases treated by AI doctors.

Why did the penguin need to travel so far Perhaps it was confused by moving ocean currents(洋流)and

sand.
One of the joggers phoned for help, and soon some firemen arrived. The man was glad that the penguin
would soon be safe, although he felt a little sad, too.
The event on the beach at Rio happened some time ago. It was only the beginning of penguin migration(

way from Patagonia and the Straits of Magellan, southern parts of South America.

The more time we keep

long line at the store.

1.How did scientists create a special animal called the Colossal Woolly Mouse
A.They mixed DNA from plants and animals.
B.They used human’s DNA to make it.
C.They used gene-editing technology to create it.
D.Scientists from the US used their own DNA to create it.
2.Which is most probably the picture of gene-editing
